    LYRICS:
You've seen him up and down the avenue
And now he's wearin' the navy blue
She had a tear in the corner of her eye
As he said his last - goodbye...
    Shoo-shoo-shoo baby, shoo-shoo-shoo baby
    Bye-bye-bye baby, doo-dah-doo-day
Your pappa's off to the seven seas
Do-on't cry baby, do-on't sigh baby
    Bye-bye-bye baby, doo-dah-doo-day
When I come back we'll live a life of ease
    Seems kind of tough now
    To say goodbye this way
But pappa's gotta be rough now
So that he can be sweet to you another day
    Bye-bye-bye baby, do-on't cry baby
    Shoo-shoo-shoo baby, doo-dah-doo-day
Your papa's off to the seven seas
    Shhh-shoo baby, do-dah-doo-day
    Shhh-shoo baby, do-dah-doo-day
    Shhh-shoo baby, shoo-shoo
Wait a minute, I want a little bit of quiet in the house, please
She wants a little bit of quiet in the house
My papa's on his way across the seven seas
So don't you cry-hy, don't you sigh, goodbye
    Now shoo-shoo baby, shoo-oo-oo-oo-oo
    Shoo-shoo my baby, shoo...
Goodbye baby, don't you cry no more
Your big a-tall papa's off to the seven seas
    Seems kind of tough now
    To say goodbye this way-ay
But papa's got to be rough now
So that he can be sweet to you another day
    Shhhh baby, shhhh baby
    Shoo-shoo-shoo baby, goodbye, goodbye
Your papa's off to the seven seas, the seven seas
Your big tall papa's off to the seven seas

Their emulation of a trumpet harmony and trumpet ornamentation is what set them apart from other singing groups of the time, even to this day. This song is a prime example of that.

Yeah, like "Bye bye bye baby, your papa's off to the seven seas, don't cry, baby!" even when a lot of the men who said that never came back- and knew they were probably not going to

Jamie Anybody I count myself very fortunate as my father ( who got in at 16!!! ) and all of his brothers all came back and then went on to Korea to serve again. Definitely the greatest generation ever. Somehow I can’t see us coming together as a nation like that ever again 😢

That was Clark Gable with the B17 Bomber near the end and firing the .50 guns from inside the bomber. He went on several missions and if captured Hitler wanted to meet him. There was a big reward for anyone bringing him to Hitler. Clark Gable had a bullet got through one of his boots but missed his leg. After that they pulled him from combat duty. James or Jimmy Stewart the actor was a B24 Bomber pilot during world war 2 in case anyone does not know that.
