  • Here is the get ready with me (GRWM) video for the short clip I put up on Instagram of my 1930s make up look. I had already done the marcel-wave come finger-wave, curly, faux-bob hairstyle as an experiment, and really liked the result, so I decided to film the make up as I created it!
    If you like the look, let me know and I will do a proper make up tutorial and hair tutorial for this 1920s/1930s inspired look.

    Please please do a hair tutorial!!! It looks so good and I’ve been looking for a tutorial for a hairstyle like that on short hair recently but haven’t been able to find one that worked for me.

      I'm so glad to hear that! I go through those kinds of ruts too. It does take a lot of time and effort but can also be really rewarding in terms of creativity and self-expression - so it ebbs and flows haha!

      MissBeeTown so true. Just finished putting on a bit of besame and some cobalt blue vintage earrings and I feel awake... despite working mobile, visiting construction sites to make sure things are going well and then helping my daughter paint her room some more in our new home... all while in plain shorts shirt and headband lol, in this nasty East coast humidity in the U.S.

    I absolutely love this 😍 you gave me inspiration for my upcoming party this Saturday. Technically it’s a 1920’s party but my outfit is borderline ‘29-early 30’s. This makeup is perfect 👌🏽 ❤️💋 Btw...you look gorgeous!!

    I always use lipstick following that 1930s cupid's bow, and I mix matte and creamy lipsticks together. Also because I am never satisfied and I am always looking for the perfect colour

    It looks like you stepped out of a modeling magazine for the 1930’s, maybe a dancer too if I had to guess. Love it! It’s a very sultry, haunting look like it’s so accurate it’s like I’ve seen a ghost from the past. Amazing !❤

    Can you do a Grace Kelly hair and/or makeup? She my FAVORITE vintage icon!! I also wanted to say that I love your channel so so much! ♥️

    • @MissBeeTownsend
      @MissBeeTownsend  6 років тому

      Gonna be honest, I LOVE her look but I have dark hair and dark eyes and it just isn't going to look good on me to do blue or violet eye shadow and peachy or pale pink lips (basically in the 50s they used eye shadow that matched the colour of your eyes and pastel or peach lipsticks were worn by blondes and brunettes and redheads wore the vampy red shades). I could do a video explaining how they decided what colours you should wear based on your hair, eyes and complexion? I just don't think it will be useful for me to do a make up tutorial for blondes as it won't look at all right and won't make sense because my colouring is so different. I'd love your thoughts on how I can help via a different approach though xx

    • @breerodriguez9082
      @breerodriguez9082 6 років тому +2

      MissBeeTown I didn’t even consider that! I have dark hair, too, so I suppose that would also apply to me! Idea-wise, I really love her hairstyle! Also, I just like her natural vintage look, so something along the lines of how makeup colors in that time were selected would be super cool!

    You should try the kiss brand of eyelashes - they are sold in boots and Superdrug in the UK. I checked PETA website and they are cruelty free. The lashes are great but I would use a lash glue you have that you like instead of the glue the lashes come with. X

    Ohh so beautiful, I really wish you could zoom in to show it in greater detail... I struggle so much with the heart lipshape and there aren't really any specific tuts for that on yt. Your lip shape is absolutely gorgeous

    • @MissBeeTownsend
      @MissBeeTownsend  6 років тому +1

      I put a long response above but my make up tutorials will improve when i get a real camera. I film mostly on my own on a phone so I cannot film using the rear high definition camera and see myself at the same time to check I don't move out of a close up shot. I can only do tutorials when someone else films and I don't like to ask my bf to spend hours filming make up videos on his rare days off. But once I have a DSLR it will resolve these problems. x

    • @MissBeeTownsend
      @MissBeeTownsend  6 років тому +2

      Maybe I could also do a video just comparing lip shapes from the 20s/30s/40s/50s. Just lips. Thoughts?

      Barry M in Siren (their varnish is SUPER cheap, vegan, and lasts for ages). It lasts much longer than many more expensive brands (eg. OPI) that I've tried.

      Don't worry, I will do a proper tutorial 😀This was just me filming an experiment. A tutorial takes me a very very long time as I film on a phone, not a camera, so I can't just twist the lens on the front and look in the flip screen to zoom in and just continue on. I have to stop, physically move the tripod, zoom in by hand on my phone and guess where I'll be sitting, and then test it to see if it's in the right position and review the footage several times to make sure I'm in the shot. It's a whole thing. Or I have to ask Val to give up several hours to film for me on his one day off, which he isn't generally too keen on. I WILL do it though (aka he will lol) because I actually really like this look and I think it is worth the effort! But that is why my make up tutorials are rare. Proper camera coming EOY or early 2019 (I've put in Xmas pressie requests haha).

    Umm we never had fake lashes in the 1900s up to 70s so why fake lashes

    • @MissBeeTownsend
      @MissBeeTownsend  4 роки тому +3

      Fake lashes were invented in 1911 and were worn by every leading lady of the Golden Era. Max Factor used to make his own signature ones out of mink for the leading ladies he would make up, including Jean Harlow, Joan Crawford and Ava Gardner (amongst MANY others). My makeup tutorials take inspiration from these women and wouldn't be complete without a set of falsies :)
