This may seem like an unusual request. But can you do a tutorial of what women from the Titanic (aka Edwardian, victorian era) wore their makeup during their stay on the ship? Or you can do a Victorian age era.
The Victorian era may be a little bit tricky for her to do, as makeup was only for prostitutes and actresses (who were looked down upon back then). Although they used dozens of lotions and face creams to keep their skin looking white, and sometimes traced their veins with a blue pencil. The only makeup you would really see women on the Titanic wearing would be very light face powder, maybe eyebrow pencil and a tiny bit of rouge. :) (Sorry for rambling, I love makeup history!)
Becc is right. This is why women in the Victorian era had those crazy huge undos. They couldn't wear makeup so the compensated with huge amounts of hair.
Becc Edwards wow that's really interesting. In high school i took a fashion merch class & did a presentation of 30's fashion. I included the makeup, but my teacher got angry because he said makeup had nothing to do with fashion. I then found out makeup was a passion of mine because after gasping i made it a point to give my (unsolicited) opinion on why i thought it was. Lol needless to say i didn't get a good grade. I was surprised with myself because i wasn't one to speak up....then lol.
I would love to see you do a Doris Day look from the 50's. She was my grandpa's favorite actress from that time and I still remember watching Calamity Jane with him when I was little.
It would be awesome to perhaps compare the same era but in two different locations in the world from different cultures! May take some extra research but I think it would be super interesting and cool to watch (and maybe recreate)! I LOVE this series btw, ive learned so much!
Lisa Eldridge has this series on her blog where she researches popular makeup looks from movies. For example, Clueless or Clockwork Orange. She interviews the makeup artist and writes about what inspired the famous looks and the exact makeup that was used. It's so fascinating! I would love to see you do something similar but in a video format. I know some youtubers recreate character looks but I love how thoroughly researched your historically accurate videos are so that would set your videos apart. This would be so much fun!
abirsashee Now that IS fascinating! I love to hear that Lisa is doing that, I feel like there are not enough people who take the time anymore. :( Thanks for the suggestion, I appreciate it!
I'd love to see an 18th century makeup tutorial, channeling Marie Antoinette! I love how well researched and informative this series is, can't wait to see your next look. :)
I love your historically accurate videos! You're beautiful in every decade....My grandmother was a young woman in the 30's, and for the rest of her life. at least into her 80's the only lipstick and nail color she wore was red. I always thought that was odd, because in everything else, her clothing and accessories she was very neutral and subdued. I guess she just picked up red as her classic shade and stuck with it for the next 50 years....I'll have to check my makeup bag and see what I've hung onto since the 80's!....Thanks for the fun video. - Pam
I totally relate. My mom and many other relatives of her generation or older pretty much stuck with red. Nail polish colors weren't as varied and red was classic. Their clothes were in basic colors as well so the biggest pops were the lips and nails. I miss that look, and many of the special women who wore red. :-)
Hey Zebrina! I wanted to say that I really love how detailed you are in your tutorials and reviews. Also, there's something about your channel that makes you stand out from the rest of the beauty ones on UA-cam. I really appreciate all the effort you put into creating easy to follow and professional videos but still show your quirkiness. Thanks! :)
Definitely would love the sixties look (not the hippie look but more the Marlo Thomas "That Girl"look and the Jane Fonda, Natalie Wood and Sophia Loren look. ). That would be so much fun, Zabrina. Thanks in advance. Love your style. Maria
Z, I feel like u nailed this.I feel like u found your footing w the series and its getting goooooood. Not just another "tutorial". I was engaged and interested and its ORIGINAL. Great job!!!
Oh gosh I absolutely loved this. I recently purchased a book called Classic Beauty, The History of Makeup by Gabriela Hernandez and goes back to the very beginning of makeup to today. It is a wonderful, informative book for all makeup lovers. I was born in 56 so I would love to see you do the 50's. Also, please do a character makeup as Ava Gardner, old Hollywood, classic beauty.
I do makeup for my high school drama club, and my director tends to lean more towards period shows (i.e., Grease, Bye Bye Birdie, The Outsiders, Anything Goes, etc...). This spring is our production of Annie (cheesy, I know...), and she was extremely strict about makeup and nails, saying no eyeshadow, no lipstick, no brows, just foundation, heavy blush, and brown or black eyeliner-no wings (that she seemed to get right). As a die-hard nail polish girl and makeup queen, I took to the internet to prove her wrong and get my way. I simply showed her your video, and she promoted me to head of the makeup department and makeup consultant for further shows, since I'm a senior this year. I will use nothing but your videos for reference! Fantastic learning tool!
Love this! This series is what originally brought me to your channel. I'm a fan of the 50's and was looking for authentic makeup ideas to go with all of my pretty dresses. Feel free to revisit the 50's again some time.
You deserve more subscribers!!! I have yet to come across a beauty guru who takes the time to research about the looks. Plus I love historical makeup, and it's hard to find accurate tutorials. Thank you❤️
Thank you for such an interesting tutorial. I love the history behind the look. Please, take me back to my teens and early 20's with a look from the 70's!
I'm just discovering this series of yours and I'm obsessed!!! What a fantastic combo of history and makeup. You must've put a huge amount of effort and research into these videos!
I love this series! All the time and research you put into the videos really shows. I love history and makeup so you combining the two is awesome! It's amazing how much you can learn about a time period just by studying the makeup trends. I would love to see 90's Clueless...that was my favorite movie when I was in middle school. Thanks for another great video! :-)
Could you possibly do an Elizabethan era makeup tutorial? the super pale faces and red hair? How people would make themselves look like queen Elizabeth? that sounds weird but I'd love to hear the history on it and how to go about it!
Oh Z, PLEASE turn yourself into Marie Antoinette!!! You would be sooooo beautiful and I would love to see how makeup was applied during that era. PLEEEEEEEEEZ?????? 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Thank you so much for this, I'm really into 1930's and make up history but I find there aren't as much tutorials of the 30's as there are of other decades!
I think you could have a blast with a Twiggy look, pixie haircuts, bold thick false lashes, bright bold clothing in mod or paisley patterns, go-go boots. I'd love to see that.
This look suits you so well! Your eyes look great with that pretty pale purple. Maybe you could do another 90s look next, a more Clueless-esque type of look with the shimmery shadows and glosses.
ohmygosh, thanks for doing all this research, this is all so fascinating, I am going to go through the entire playlist in this series, really looking forward to it
As always, great job! I love this series so much! For my request; I think an 80's look A la Daisy Duke style from the original Dukes of Hazzard would be fun. I love the Loose long flowy waves and the sun kissed girl next door look from that era in television.
Zabrina. I love all your videos but particularly this series is my favorite. I have learned so many beauty tips from you. I wish you were able to do more videos; I would be your biggest fan. I always look forward to seeing a video from you in my Feed. Thanks for all your wonderful videos. Of all the ghurus on You Tube, you are definitely my favorite. Much love to you, Maria
Hi Zabrina, I just wanted to say how much I enjoy your Historically Accurate series. I'm a history major and also a wood be writer, I first found the series when doing research for a story set in the 1920s (whilst I knew the basics of the idea of a "flapper" look I wanted to be as specific and accurate as possible--your accuracy is another reason why I loved the video you did) and I've kinda stuck around watching the others--it's actually a fascinating new way to look at history via consumerism and the beauty industry. I was hoping maybe to see some on looks from China, Japan, and India, not to mention Greco-Roman, Byzantine and say Renaissance France, Italy and Britain--something that maybe Mary Queen of Scots or the Tudors would have worn? With regards to eyebrows in the 1930s yes they were kinda crazed about shaping them. The actress Lucille Ball said a makeup woman shaved hers off when she first got to Hollywood in the 1930s--and they never grew back. In her auto-bio she wrote that her worst fear was to wake up on a desert isle with no eyebrow pencil.
I've this. You reminded me of when my granny told me back in the thirties she worked in a club called the Platinum Club where all the women had their hair platinum blonde and Al Capone used to come to that club the makeup she told me about matched what you said to a T. Thank You Z
I am so happy you did the 30s! If you are taking character suggestions, I would love to see you do Regina from Once Upon a Time. That would be fun to see.
Hi, Zabrena! I would looooove to see a tutorial (if it's not too far off the usual course for this channel) or at least hear your tricks for those 30s half-moon/bare tip nails! I found out about that style last fall when I was trying to put together a Marlene Dietrich costume but I just couldn't figure out how to make it work well… Thanks! Love the details in this video.
The nail trend makes sense. Most women were housewives. So, not painting the tips would mask any chipping from chores, like washing dishes, and not painting near the cuticle meant you wouldn't have to paint your nails as often, because it would mask nail growth since the last manicure. I could get behind that.
I just watched all of your 'Historically Accurate'-Videos an I love them! I really appreciate how much work you put into research compared to other UA-camrs just doing 'inspired' videos. I would love to see a Marie Antoinette inspired Baroque/Rokoko make up :)
Ooh, its finally here! I've been so excited for this! How 'bout taking a trip to the edwardian era? And I think that's a great idea to do character/actress tutorials!
Love your videos, you are my make-up guardian angel!!! Seriously, I have gotten so many compliments and when people ask and I'm like "One word: Zabrina." Keep being amazing!! :)
Hi Zabrena! I've just found your channel and watch all Historically Accurate videos in one go! Love the idea of documentary type make up videos! So, while watching them I've got a suggestion, Gothic make up. Where it all started and what's was the original look.
I love these videos. You should return to the 1940's and do something Agent Carter related. They are doing a wonderful job with historical accuracy (both costume- and makeup-wise) on that show and the show itself is pretty spectacular.
Great video love your tutorials!! I would love a 90s Clueless look I was in middle school and remember how the clueless look was very trendy thanks for a all your awesome tutorials!!! 😘
Oh Z, how I looooove this series!!! You totally inspired me to do this for a Sinatra Tribute concert I'm going to tomorrow. AS FOR MY REQUEST: Could you do a glamorous 80's supermodel look?! Think Robert Palmer girls or George Michael's "Freedom" video. Maybe it's early 90's as well. A whole lotta love from across the pond!
Great video. Thanks for the history lesson told through makeup. I would love to see a 1940s look. I love movies from the 30s and the 40s. You captured the look completely.
I'm not sure if you ever saw my comment in another video where I said that I would like to see you do eye looks where you didn't use a warm transition color in the crease. I feel that it makes a lot of the eye looks appear very similar and they're not always necessary if you blend the edges well. So it was nice to see in this video that you used purple without a warm transition color. It looked nice.
✨Celenite384✨ I wish you could give me a makeover!! My hands shake and tremble from my PTSD so badly now that I'm older. I bet you'd do an awesome job, too!! :)
Oh my gosh! My grandmother used to paint my nails that way! Moons exposed.....she used to push my cuticles back so far....ouch! lol
This may seem like an unusual request. But can you do a tutorial of what women from the Titanic (aka Edwardian, victorian era) wore their makeup during their stay on the ship? Or you can do a Victorian age era.

Updos not undos. Haha!
abirsashee lol..i was curious what an undo was, but i figured it was just another way of saying updo lol
I would love to see you do a Doris Day look from the 50's. She was my grandpa's favorite actress from that time and I still remember watching Calamity Jane with him when I was little.
Zabrina, I love your historical series! I am dying to see you do Film Noir look! It's my personal favorite.
Totally!
yes please!
Mine too!

Love The Historically Accurate Series!! Maybe do a 1960's look? Thanks and love all that you do, I've personally learned a lot ;-)
Great series on historic make up eras! Love the blond wig too! I was surprised that I really love this 1930's make up!
Goth look (90s-00s) could be really fun.
I'm obsessed with vintage makeup looks! :-) LOVE LOVE
I love this series so much! Always so interesting and amazing to see how trends change over the years

I use my makeup using 30's , 40's and 50's style... It's amazing how it's timeless and classic.
Enjoyed all the information you gave in this video. Great series too!
I love these videos so so much. This series is my favourite videos on all of UA-cam. 90's clueless sounds awesome! x
Italian Renaissance would be fun or 18th century Venetian.
I second this! Venetians especially had a lot of fun with makeup.
Omg you are so flippin' cute!!! I can watch you do this alll day!! Would love to see you do a 40's sailor girl look :)
You are so flawless..love this series very much...great job

Hi, Zabrena! I would looooove to see a tutorial (if it's not too far off the usual course for this channel) or at least hear your tricks for those 30s half-moon/bare tip nails! maddbrother I'll put together a quick video for it this weekend! ;)
***** Ohhh my goodness! Thank you so much!

I love these videos so much!!!! Thank you!!!! I am so fascinated by fashion and make up from history so these are perfect!.
I absolutely love your history facts. I always loved the past of fashion, and you look great in every generation!
You should do a 2000s makeup like early 2000s Christina Aguilera type makeup
her bottom lashes are amazing!
The rosebud lip shape suits you so well! 💋
This is so beautiful (and educational) ! Love your channel. 🙌
I would love to see 40s. And I would love to see you do a Betty White look from her much younger days. She has been a beautiful woman in many decades
I love these series! I hope you keep doing them! Beautiful look! XO
Great video Zabrina. Great products and education. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Zabrena! I've just found your channel and watch all Historically Accurate videos in one go! Love the idea of documentary type make up videos! So, while watching them I've got a suggestion, Gothic make up. Where it all started and what's was the original look.
I’d love to see you do some modern make up looks from other cultures.
It varies SO much depending where you live and it would be interesting to see
your voice is so relaxed and soothing it makes me a little too relaxed and a bit sleepy! but I like it hah
I love these videos. You should return to the 1940's and do something Agent Carter related. They are doing a wonderful job with historical accuracy (both costume- and makeup-wise) on that show and the show itself is pretty spectacular.
Zabrena, you’re adorable no matter which era you’re from. Thanks for these visits back in time.
Hi Zabrina. I'd love to see how to best make 20s/30s make-up work for glasses wearers. A video on that would be awesome, if there are any tips. 🥰
Great video love your tutorials!! I would love a 90s Clueless look I was in middle school and remember how the clueless look was very trendy thanks for a all your awesome tutorials!!! 😘
I would like to see 60's Mod, Twiggy or flower power.

Great video. Thanks for the history lesson told through makeup. I would love to see a 1940s look. I love movies from the 30s and the 40s. You captured the look completely.
She already did one!
my favorite series ever!!! stunning. I love in the wrong era. lol love it..
This is amazing!! I love the information you give about the history of the 1930's. Very well done! I subscribed!! xxx
As always an amazing video, thanks for the time you invested in this video!
