Hey awsome covers! Now to answer your question, I don't know how they made these ambiences specificly, but there are different ways I can think of how you could do something similar:
1 From scratch: Find a sample you want to turn into an ambience. In this case I would think of a jet engine or something. Put a big wet reverb on it (some reverbs have infinte decay, can do some spooky shit with that) , pitch shift it, other processing to taste, maybe make multiple layers, automate pitch and volume to increase intensity and there you go. You could also try to reverse the audio after the reverb for that sucking effect.
2 The lazy way: find a sample pack online with ambiences (JST has a pack called kaoss with some real cool effects), isn't as versitile because of the backed in fx but you could try to stretch and shift it to fit more to the way you want it.
3 Drop the cash: UVI has a plugin called meteor, it's what they call a swell and impact designer. Maybe that can make something similar as in this song. I don't have it so I don't kno, but it sounds promising and is on my wishlist.

Tempo goes to 100bpm right after the solo, then 85bpm halfway though the breakdown and then finally 75bpm when he starts snorting cocaine
