- I was looking for a video testing out the Rust-Oleum Glow In The Dark 2x Stronger, but I couldn't find any. This is for anyone else in the same situation.
Hopefully it saves you guys some time and money!
Thank you!
(This was an independent test, and I was not sponsored by anyone.)
Check out my friend's channel, he's very passionate about UA-cam and started a channel not too long ago:

I like to clear coat my battery terminals to keep them from oxidizing. I was out and luckily I had a can of the POS glow in the dark paint.
6 years later and this is still one of the only reviews of this product on UA-cam. Thank you for your service!
This is the video I was searching for!! I'm happy that you explained the clear gloss on top of the glow in the dark.
Thank you for posting this. I wanted to know what color it would be in the Daylight and was having trouble finding out.
Thanks a lot man this was a great video and it helped me to know if this paint would work or not
Thx for the vid. It's def helpful. I'd look into using a 12 hour + glow in the dark product. I used it for my kids bedroom when they were young, The SkyScape images I painted seemed to charge well enough via artificial or sunlight to be bright by night & still glowing & morning, & it lasted for years.
I bought this product and you're using it wrong. For optimum effect you have to charge it with Sunlight for at least 6 hours to obtain maximum effect. Charging it with a flash light will not have the desired effect.
gavin gertzen Hey there! Where can I buy this glow in the dark spray?
Denn Vincent Valdez Hi I bought it from the local hardware store. You should look for someone in your area that stocks Rustoleum products.
I did some other testing on a motorcycle helmet. Even in the Sun for hours, it dies down quickly. As far as the results, I think they're close, but a few more coats would definitely help. Might make another video with more coats. Thanks!
another way to charge anything "glow in the dark" is by using a UV light source .. UV light , or Blacklight charges fast.. I use this method inmy grandson's room for his stars .. its good, but does fade fast ... does not last for hours on end. (sadly)
And it needs to be applied on a white surface for best result.
Bro. I just bough it too. And your the first video on youtube I have seen . Thank you!
Thank you for this helpful information.
You went all out !!! Good job thanks
If you had this paint on a wall in a bedroom and turned on a blacklight. Would that work or no?
on metal would be a different total experience with glow or no? thanks for posting this
Thank you for doing the homework for me
Rustoleum does have a video on their site; they also recommend, you prime darker colors with white primer, so spraying the black first, it wouldn't work anyway. As someone else commented, they do recommend 5 coats.
Hi! I would like to know if it would still glow after being sprayed by a Gloss Coat? Will it prevent from rubbing on your hands?
So is it clear?? I want my Moped to be White but glow in dark at night... Can i use this on top of glossy white then clear coat it? And still have it look bright glossy white?
Thanks Exactly what I was wondering. Most of the others fake it with a black light.
This is reminds me of science projects back in high school
If i use this to spraypaint an alien on the side of a Railbox would it be charged up enough to be bright throughout the whole night? thats the only reason i considered buying this
wait why didint you try a UV flashlight it wont work?
Did the directions say to build up many layers?
My Can lid alone was glowing all night! I am using the regular glow and I paid 18 for it… it says to use a primer aswell before using the glow spray along with having to wait 1-2 hours to handle and 24 hours to fully dry maybe that’s why you got it on ur hands 😅, also you do have to give it a spray 2-3 times also mind you a clear coat to protect the paint will not ruin it! I do tumbler cups I promise the clear coat will do you justice! 🥳❤️
@jojosicairos6903 if using clear over the glow spray does it dry with a smooth surface?
@@dgb2394 usually it does!! But I suggest when your glow coat is all dry just lighting with your palm go through cup for any bumps and just sand down very lightly with 200 grit sandpaper or lightest sand paper there is and than you can clear coat ❤️ I also recommend resin/epoxy
nice video! can you try out some peelable paint? + clear on it ?
You didnt charge it properly or long enough read the can it says it will last 4 to 8 hoursunder optimal conditions
Great video. Thank you!
Thanks for the info. I was thinking of spraying my black motorcycle helmet with this stuff, now I know it won't work. Thanks for saving me over $20.
Did you need a black light to "charge"
Budy, you're a real life saver
I sprayed it on all my stuff outside and it didn’t work :(
So if it rains, it will come off? 😔
Next time use a black light to charge the paint it works really fast and with anything that is glow in the dark
Would this work on a remote controls rubber buttons?
I really want to find some paint spray that will work for tv remote.
try glow in the dark nail polish if you have not already
thank you!
Thanks for the info
Did you even read the instructions especially about charging up?
You should test it on different surfaces to see if it makes a difference.
Thank you for saving me some money.
Great video
Hi dude, awesome review, i just got mine like yesterday. If you apply 3-4 layers the effect is amazing, but yeah it only takes like 2 min and the magic is gone... shame
Can I apply thie green colour glow the dark spray on a purple shirt without putting a white layer?
I believe so, but I'll try to make a video on it. Thanks!
Try using black light instead of regular light
I have a painting I want to glow in the dark. Will it actually work or will it ruin my painting an not work?
There are specific glow in the dark paints for painting I believe, definitely look into those. I wouldn't recommend this one.
You do know spraying it on cardboard won’t really be effective. That material absorbs a lot of the paint. Spray it on metal or plastic
I think plastic or metal with 2 coats would be much better.
So basically this glow in the dark stuff is CLEAR??
Charging it for 10-15 minutes and expecting it to last 4-8 hours!? 😂😂😂
Yes we(you ppl) are spoiled
Remember We all are not perfect, We all are different and do make mistakes. And We can learn from our mistakes one way or another. I am not laughing with you and neither against you 😉
Does that spray paint go good on wood and chairs for outside I got a pretty picture of 22 inches wide should I treat the wood for it first and then but they glow in the dark paint on winter but the glow in the dark paint on it then but that stuff over it so it don't rot when it sets out here all winter that guy that made a set of treated wood but you know you never can be too safe
Yeah I think it'd be best to put the spray in the dark paint first, and then some kind of treatment or clear coat to protect it. As you saw in the video, that stuff was coming off really easy without a clear coat.
But always do a test spot first! Then make your decision!
Thank you!
THANK YOU
There is a tute vid on this and you have to let it charge for several hours.....not several minutes. And it has to be applied to a white surface.
Thanks! You should go get some lit. That stuff really glows!
Hello not sure if you are going to actually read this comment, but anyway I bought the same can before seeing this video. I read the very back of can it does also state that purchasing a can of Rust-Oleum white primer can help to give a more brighter glow as well so idk if maybe you may want to look into making a part 2 of this video using the primer it may make all the difference however even if using the product in the proper temperature and humidity I didn't see them mention that it can improve the length of the glow lasting which I think is a bummer
Good work
Didn't work at all on the rocks in my yard =( was pretty dissapointed
You didn't put more then one coat of it on
Does it have a color by itself, or does it go on clear?
No, it's clear as long as you keep the coats at a reasonable number.
Thank you.
Thank you
Thank you..don"t think I will waste my money.
Designing myself a product may use this kind of paint idk
test this on metal or plastic, i was thinking of painting a tattoo on my car bumper to try this stuff out , maybe you can do it instead
Nice vid
Maybe a Blye light would help
Will it work on slabs? As I'm going to try it at my STW sites.
I believe it would, just treat it like other spray paints.
@@EdgarMelon thank you
Just let use Krylon I just sprayed a pair of Hey Dude slip on dad shoes came out incredible it’s clear too cause my shoe is blue and it’s glow in the dark blue looks really nice
Try spraying clear coat first to seal the paper 👍
To be fair. You need a day of the sun not a cloudy day, to get an amazingly lit up project.
Inquiring Minds this product does not work. I sprayed 2 white Rocks and they have been sitting in the sun for a week. They don’t glow.
Does it work on the wall?
Yeah, it'd work on most surfaces like metals, plastics, wood, etc.
Good video
paper ABSORBS paint so any pigment is literally stuck INSIDE the paper , do it on a non porous surface
That's what I was thinking, paper will obsorb whatever it is that makes it glow. I wonder how it would work on golf balls
You need to read the directions it should be charged while the paint is wet and it need to have a thick coat and dont scratch it the paint is not dry
Instead of 'charging" it for 10 minutes, the question is "What happens if you "Charged" it all day?
I wonder how it compares to plasti dip green glow. Also, a full day of sun and more coats. The thicker the more it can charge. I plan on glowing a cooler lid.
I think I'll make a comparison video on that soon! Thanks!
well, it might work very well for halloween spray to glow in dark
If all your Halloween activities last 2 minutes or less lol
thanks
White primer was first step missed! Dont work over black! But great vid 👍🏿
I used this spray on landscaping rocks for my driveway. And they are in direct sun all day long so you’d think they would glow in the night. However they don’t. I don’t get it they are in direct sun all day long.
Same for me nothing I painted worked such a waste of time.
You're supposed to charge the paint for 4 hours after applying 4-5 coats. Your coats were also very thin.
Agreed, might do another video! Thanks!
No problem. I might watch it. :P
If I ever had a house I would paint it glow in the dark.
hell yeah appreciate the vid. same reason i'd make a vid.
Dude use a black light to charge it .
Paper is no good, you need to do the test with plastic or metal.
Will do!
You only charged it for such a short time. Let it sit in the all-day sun for 12 hours and try again.
You painted on paper? Paper sucks in paint. You should read directions. To see what type of primer or base you need to paint on.
Thanks for the video, It’s not worth it. It doesn’t glow bright enough or last any time at all.
Great idea anyway to bad it doesn’t work
Need to be under direct sunlight all day🎉
Use a strong UV light
Charge with a uv light
You are not supposed to do that on paper. And you need to charge it in the sun. Not a reliable test
It didn't last long because you're supposed to let it change longer than 15 minutes.
These paints are not as good as a UA-camr female that used glow in the dark duck tape and it was amazingly bright
Use a white primer first. It will work
I have absolutely no idea how luminescence works, or that paint takes time to dry. I better do a review and show my uneducated mistakes and pointless comments.
I think you should following the instructions on the can. Before coming to your video, I watched their video here: ua-cam.com/video/hGfy37V7gMw/v-deo.html
Did you get your money back 🤣
That's because you're using paper.
Wow you special bro lol 😂 you would be much better off using UV light to charge it lol lmao omg
@@andrewcastro9243 I'll do it
Your supposed to charge the glow in the dark paint by Sunlight or a bright light for a few Hour's. Not by just painting an object and leaving it in darkness. You need to watch videos that show you how to charge up glow in the dark paint, it takes photons from the Sun and lights to charge up the chemicals in the glow in the dark paint, to produce the glowing effect. I have only a 8th grade education and am 65 but I know glow in the dark paint ingredients have to be charged by the photons of light for it to Glow for a few hours. Search and Research for the answers I Do. Take My advice and watch other videos and watch, UNSW video of about Glow in the dark paint..
I'm far more intrested in seeing you take that back get a refund
Get your money back ? no wonder prices are so expensive for the rest of us everybody returns s*** bogus style
Now I know not to buy it. Thanks for the heads up!👏🏼
