@@Xmara01 from military point of view : lot of the power of French military comes from nuclear dissuasion and very high end materials (jet fighters, artillery…) but they don’t consider the basic rifleman as an important tool, we had a president that’s only want Spec-Ops unit with no classic unit just to reduce the size of the army, as now, we have only enough soldier to maintain the operation we have but if we need to deploy anymore or anywhere else a part of the army it won’t be possible due to the size of the army (with lost of materials and men, no resupply or reinforcements possible if loses occurs)
In the eye of French civilian : “Guns are bad and dangerous, if there wouldn’t be guns, it would be the end of wars”, that not all civilian but when you speak about guns they just say to you “You don’t need guns to defend yourself” “Army only make peace mission, so no need of violence”, they just forget that to ensure freedom and protection you need to have some “tools” to do it, and rifles and guns are some of those tools that need to be used for it

Regarding how you two communicate with each other, it makes very much sense to me as we're forced to do the same thing when shooting at gongs up in the mountains. Some scopes have mils, some just dots, sometimes we're just holding on a bush or rock to compensate for the wind. We're dependent on our spotter to "speak a language" we both understand in order to ring the steel. Obviously you both do - kudos. All the best.

As a French, I am amazed how Henry mimick my own accent in your language. Even thought I've been firmly said I sound like a britanic South Wales native.
Could Henry carry some celtic blood ?
    WAIT.
The barrel has NO harmonic tuning. Ian did a video with Henry Canaple stating clearly and it 's correct. I know many french people spread this misconception ( and even one in another Ian's video ) but that is not the fact.
On another hand what makes a lot for rifle accuracy ( no matter cold or hot btw ) and barrel durability is the double butted profile, internal diameter is smaller both at start and end of rifling ( by the way this is well knowne method, many match .22lr rifle have slightly smaller diameter at the muzzle to improve accuracy - Walther, Feinwerkbau and Steyr used it at some point ).

Actually the US importer Navy Arms recently bought the entire surplus stock of FRF2s from the French government and they are being sold in the US through an associated online retailer (Old Western Scrounger Ammo, ows-ammo). Any old joe in the US can buy one as there are still more than a few available, probably because the price for each rifle and equipment kit ranges from 4.5-8k USD. Takes a real Francophile to shell out for one, but as I understand the more expensive surplus rifles are in fairly good condition.

"We are se 'ipsters of NATO!" 😎 Absolutely the best line ever! 😂 Have had my share of talking to french engineers in english, so i really liked that impression! (english isn't my native language either, so i too am surely having a very noticeable accent, just not a french one.)
While i kind of like their accent, lot's of the younger folk have less of it. (...and thus are even easier to understand, as they won't slip words like "jour" and "fichier" into their sentences after a long day of talking. ;-) )

So the French went more of our DMR doctrine, with some sniper parts mixed in, but with a bolt gun, and we were/still are full on sniper doctrine, with some DMR aspects being added in. And of the army wants to change some, and get them off their stomachs, send them to the USMC sniper school, just look at what Marine snipers did in Iraq, with bolt guns, the last of the M40A series in 7.62 they were forward, up in the assaults with bolt guns, city fighting, even room clearing with them, and their pistols. And they were insanely deadly, supporting the infantry in fast moving fights. Trying remember the title, but it was talked about, from marine snipers and commanders. Who did it, and showed some of their mout training.

The rifle likely could have performed better had shorter bullet been used. 175gr are really best in 1:10 twist. The FR-F2 has a 1:11.8. There's a 30K RPM difference between those rates assuming a 2600fps MV.

Goddamnit Henry, its illegal to make an intro so goddamned funny!
On the topic of the heat shroud/sleeve, it actually helps maintain accuracy even when it heats up by keeping the heating and heat dissipation of the barrel even all around it, its similar in theory to the thermal sleeves on modern MBT smoothbore tank cannons, and AI themselves have done a lot of testing on barrel profiles regarding accuracy with hot barrels and the effects of barrel profiles changing how heat shifts the shape of the barrel and its harmonics. They ended up selecting their straight profile no taper medium contour for the best results between weight, even heating and rigidity, giving better results when hot compared to fluted barrels which heat and dissipate heat unevenly which warps the barrels shape and harmonics.

That's what happen when a country is run by incompetent Europeanists for 40 years selling every means of production to Chinese, German, American companies thinking France interest is no more and France should melt into a European Super State that only French politicians ever believed in. So France gets weaker, accommodating other Europeans countries especially Germany, on every point including firearms industry. Basically France is already out of their mind as the country can burn to the ground if it makes an United European Union appear out of it's ash.

AFAIK, French Air Force didn't use FR F2, they used FR G2 = FR F1 in 7,62 NATO.
And like FR F1, FR F2 was used as DMR rather than "sniper".
During operation "Oryx" in Mogadishu the FR F2 allowes the French troops to own the battlefield on June 17th battle against Aïded militia 😉

The heat control system was used to reduce the "mirage" effect as the gun is relatively thin. It also allowed to use thermal sights of the era. The army specifications called the FR-F2 to keep its precision for 10 000 rounds, in practice it kept 90% of its accuracy for 20 000 rounds.

So it's really handy to shoot from odd angles and on the move, it's concealed from IRNV, and it eats common .308 with no issue? It sounds like the perfect rifle for both day-to-day hunting and for those theoretical SHTF scenarios people worry about.

I shot 30.06 Lake City M2 Ball from a 1982 Remington Model 700 BDL bolt action at the range on a wooden bench using only the range gun rest that was supplied. Rifle had a 1982 Bushnell 3 x 9 scope. I shot 3 rounds. All 3 rounds hit on top of the "X" and a dime could cover all three holes. Guy next to me's jaw dropped. He said if I would have shot 2 more rounds, it would have been competition or tournament shooting level. Yep no fancy spotting scopes or lead / sand filled bench rests or holding styles. Just me using U.S. Military Ball FMJ ammo and the old wooden bench rest and rifle rest holding the rifle as any typical range shooter. And I hit the top of an X at 100 yards with all 3 shots. No training as a sniper whatsoever either. I saved that target for sure. So no one can tell me that any ammo is better than any other, especially "handloads". It is up to each shooter and the rifle quality they are using as the tool.
