@@Cloudman572 Accept the regiment had been based at Brecon for 6 years by the time of Rorkes Drift and mainly recruited from Brecknockshire, Monmouthshire, and Herefordshire. I am glad I watched to the end to get the discussion about volley fire and the utility of formation shooting. Brilliant , Henry and Josh belted this one out of the park . British muzzle loaders was , as usual informative , knowledgeable and adorned with the facial topiary of majestic proportions . Thoroughly enjoyed the demonstration . It was an education and a pleasure .
Quite the weapon, great shooting and commentary, never realised how much blow-back/debris/powder those cartridges had, be interesting if you'd had a white glove on, saved it and do 200 rounds (or however many shots fired during an attack), a detail missed by the movies about how messy that aspect got. I'd love to see the same test up to 300yds standing, just my curiosity and I imagine that Martini would wear you out pretty quickly. Awesome video guys, thank you!
Thank you for the kind words! I do think there is a lot of forgotten knowledge on warfare that continues to amaze us as we delve into historical firearms and get to live a tiny slither of the life those hard men lived.
Nice, like Rob's channel as well. My last tour, I brought home a three band 1860 Enfield with bayonet and a nice 1880 Martini-Henry carbine. I'm a US civil war weapons shooter and I have fired the Enfield. I would love to shoot the carbine but the ammo issue is a challenge to be sure. I've worked with the Polish Army many years and I was in and out of Ghazni many times. Love your video on their service rifle. Thanks for your hard work.
What an awesome video! Goes to show that all the issues Henry had experienced, was near irrelevant by doctrine at the time. As per any military weapon old or new, training is key to get the utmost out of what is issued.
One thing that was really visible was when the projectile hit the target. More movement then modern rounds' Hits like a mule kick is the expression I'd use.
That rifle is brutal on the shoulders. I am amazed that the defenders at Rorke's Drift were able to use their rifles near continuously in combat for 24 hours.
I remember watching ZULU, the movie, on television when I was a kid. Scared the hell outta me, all those screamin' zulus charging with their assegais. After seeing the movie, I lusted for a Martini Henry, even though I was young enough I didn't exactly know what lust was, I lusted for a Martini Henry.
Always thought it was funny how they made the British soldiers out to be heros, when in fact they were imperialists committing genocide against the Zulus. You aren't a man if you're bringing guns to a fight against people with sharpened sticks.

Absolutely wonderful to see the actual capabilities of this historic weapon; one gains insight into the limitations and the employed tactics of the time. This review alone does more for an understanding of the history of battle than most doctoral thesis's
I'm not sure if I can handle this epic of a crossover.
Brilliant , Henry and Josh belted this one out of the park . British muzzle loaders was , as usual informative , knowledgeable and adorned with the facial topiary of majestic proportions .
Thoroughly enjoyed the demonstration . It was an education and a pleasure .
Trapdoor Springfield next time around for period accurate American counterpart/comparison to the MH?
He is the absolute COOLEST DUDE. Great job getting him on the channel and bringing more exposure to his amazing channel.
Amazing. I always loved the size of the .577/450 martini round. And congratulations to you and your beautiful antique rifle for such a good showing.
Y’all need to do the Quigley Down Under rifle one of these days..
I love that YT Autocaptions interperates gunfire as "applause."
Car noises too. Makes a lot of police videos WAY more hilarious.
@@DJScootagroov I hadn't noticed that - I'm going looking for those videos now!
😁
It's possibly the only thing that auto captions gets right, gunfire is applause.
so that is why they want ban clapping and replace it with jazz hands.
Y'all's stuff just keeps getting better and better.
Great suspense, Texas wildlife and smoke footage topped with Rob.
What an awesome video! Goes to show that all the issues Henry had experienced, was near irrelevant by doctrine at the time. As per any military weapon old or new, training is key to get the utmost out of what is issued.
11:46 was pure joy!
that was a whole year's hard work happening at the nick of time!
Absolutely AWESOME! Two of my favourite shooting channels teaming up to feature a modern review of a classic rifle. Love it!
One thing that was really visible was when the projectile hit the target. More movement then modern rounds' Hits like a mule kick is the expression I'd use.
Big chunk of slow moving lead vs. little chunk of fast moving, much flatter shooting lead. Results, same.
So awesome to see British muzzle loaders collaboration and get recognition as amazing channel and content creator. Amazing 9 hole review as well.
That rifle is brutal on the shoulders. I am amazed that the defenders at Rorke's Drift were able to use their rifles near continuously in combat for 24 hours.
They were out of action for 3 wks due severe bruising of shoulders and backs.
Hands down the best Nine Hole Review! Two of my favorite channels!! The historical debrief for context was excellent. Thanks for the quality content.
I remember watching ZULU, the movie, on television when I was a kid. Scared
the hell outta me, all those screamin' zulus charging with their assegais.
After seeing the movie, I lusted for a Martini Henry, even though I was
young enough I didn't exactly know what lust was, I lusted for a Martini Henry.
Imagine the fear knowing the main body of your army had already been wiped out.
Always thought it was funny how they made the British soldiers out to be heros, when in fact they were imperialists committing genocide against the Zulus.
You aren't a man if you're bringing guns to a fight against people with sharpened sticks.
@@patricksmith2565 they were outnumbered you anti colonialist
You're giving the Zulus far too little credit and in turn, doing them a disservice, they had far more than sharpened sticks.@@patricksmith2565
Checked the like button mid-way through and wanted to check again after the commentary at the end. Great video!
1 year after susbcribing iam STILL trying to find that ever elusive intro beat on these practical accuracy vids....
Maybe they made it
search for a UA-camr named "tyops"
@@9HoleReviews i did, but the guy/girl had tons of samples and genres. I never found it because of that lmaoo
Using a relic from the past, and the accuracy you had with it was inspiring. Bravo, good sir!
