Hi, I'm ready to be me again ❤️ In this video I talk about the journey I've been on with learning to share my authentic expression on social media & UA-cam, and why this was such a difficult journey for me. To help me push through the fears which are very much still present, I've decided to challenge myself to post whatever I want on this channel, skateboarding or not. This is week 1! Whatever happens, I will learn and grow from this experience. By sharing this journey, I hope to inspire anyone who is feeling stuck in a past life, that it's safe, more than safe, it's BEAUTIFUL to show up authentically as whoever you are in this moment.
    Love you,
    George

It’s funny because I started following you when I had a slight addiction to skateboarding. I was watching videos all the time and wanted to become good at it. I never really pursued that and that’s okay, but I still followed you and watched your videos from time to time. And now I’m excited to see what you’ll post here! Your interests have shifted, mines too, and that’s cool to see I think :)

I really appreciate and resonated with this talk. As someone who decided to take the path of a full time artist a few years ago, I also felt pressure to produce content that generated views, to the point where I didn't have time to grow and create for myself anymore.
I've recently taken a step back to focus on myself and explore different styles of art. At first, it was sad seeing my engagement drop. However, I began to feel liberated with my creativity once again. As long as I prioritize that in my career, I know I'll be okay no matter what I decide.
I feel that sentiment with your creative journey as well!

💯 % appreciate you sharing, speaks volumes. I can relate, I told myself when I started my channel that what I post and share will be for me and those close to me, family and friends. Im going to look back one day when im old and grey and be reminded of the life i lived. When I see a clip that's very clean, well edited and stands out, I feel like I'll never be able to create content the same way. When I'm filming some days I'm trying so hard to impress that I forget to be there, live in the moment. I'm trying to level up so much so that it's just not me. Thank you for being real and sharing 🛹🤙🙏

Watched a lot of your channel w my cat Estrella, who loved the motion of skate vids. She passed away 2 years ago and it was wild realizing I didn’t have a being relying on my productivity anymore. Was a crazzzy journey refinding my own innate motivation and desires. This vid was a good reminder of some lessons learned during that time!!

Also i realized this aswell recently. I’ve been SOOOO stuck on trying to find a niche because it’s “easier to grow” or all these gurus are telling me to. But now i literally just started posting whatever i wanted.

i use to watch you so much back in the day. the thing is you grew up and probably enjoyed other areas of life other than skateboarding, the reason why u slowed down was everyone over time gets bored of making content on a certain topic. you shoudlve reaslied people subbeed for you not for skating. you where a chill asf guy and i wouldve watched any other vllog of u doing anything. so yeah coming from someone who watched u since like 2017 and grew up too. u gotta keep skating its apart of u.

I for one am glad you didn’t produce content like this from day 1, because I may have never found you without the bridge of skateboarding, and I wouldn’t have gotten to witness the transformation in real time like I have for the past year or so. It’s just all in perspective now of course.
It’s ironic because when I started to do less skateboarding irl, I drifted away from your channel due to its niche. Now, I imagine I’ll be sticking around because of the genuine human connection/relatability I feel. Let the skateboarding-only subscribers drop off and embrace the community of people who love you for who you are as a whole being. You’re awesome man! ❤

Man I just finished watching this. I had only originally found you because my brother told me about you. But somehow when I went to sub I had only found your podcast and was just a watcher of that. Im assuming you and I are around the same age, which makes your content feel relatable. As someone who loves skateboarding but doesn’t necessarily get the chance to engage in it as much as I used to, it’s nice watching a video like this but also seeing you move in a direction that could make you happier. The algorithm is so rigid and soul sucking & for whatever reason wants to box everyone in, so I know this is a tough / hard move for you but ill definitely be a viewer even if you are just talking to the camera

I just started making content not too long ago (literally less than a year) and I already felt boxed in after making only like 10 videos all skate related. Making my user, the little skater also felt like I was boxing myself in. I am still gonna use the name because skating is what inspired me to make the channel but I will make vlogs and show me and skating. As I make videos however, I am feeling that same pressure as you of, I have to shuv skating into the video (see what I did there?). So thank you for the insight. I will keep what you are saying in mind and not do UA-cam for any reason other than to be happy, be myself, and make content I am proud of. It is hard not to care about views and in your mind you kinda start planning videos that will get you views but you have to question if you are enjoying making that particular video. My most popular video, I didn't rlly enjoy making. I also find filming skating a bit stressful but you have to do it if you are a skate channel. Balancing niche but being yourself is so hard...But be yourself and the audience will come is what I have seen happening recently so I am gonna try to do that using a bit of the skate niche but not relying on it completely to grow.

Some constructive criticism cuz I think you’re a super solid dude. I think you over think a lot like I do. Just post what you want when you want. You don’t need to over explain everything. I feel like you are putting more expectations on yourself vs anyone else. You can always fall back on your degree but if you don’t want to you have the social media following still to make income.
I think when you approach 30 more you will miss skating and come back to it like a lot of us older heads are now. It helps keep you young and maintain the mental health. Maybe just post random session and clips you don’t need to vlog and make a career out of it. Just my two cents, wish ya the best dude
