    That looks like it's going to turn out great! I need to dig a ditch on one end of my pasture because when it rains really hard it washes away my driveway and my road and the bridge over the creek...it's a mess. I have a buddy with a backhoe, but can't seem to get un-busy enough toeave it with me for a weekend. Lol. That's life I suppose!

    Great stuff Josh. I wish I could afford the machines most of the road crews up here use. The first one sprays a mixture of grass seed, plant food, and water to apply the grass. Then the second machine pulled by a pickup shoots shredded straw over the area.

    Josh.... You should place some rock dams in the channel as well. They along with the matting should lessen if not stop your erosion. They will also help hold the matting in place and you won't need the pins or as many. Where can you get one of those seeders?

    Those landscape pins will cause flat tires on your truck and equipment. They will last for 3-4 years before rusting and coming apart. You will need to pick them up after the grass starts growing.

    Nature has another simple, bulletproof way to fight erosion- plant shrubs and trees all over the lawn. Forget grass, grow something that is productive like friit, berries, flowers for the bees, etc.

    • @StoneyRidgeFarmer
      @StoneyRidgeFarmer  6 років тому +1

      It's not a forest brotha, it's a lawn/pasture...and we just cleared all the trees...cut timber and are re-building pasture....so yes...erosion is a problem on open land...until we establish pasture....this is a 200 acre farm brotha...check out some of the land clearing vids...you will see what's going on....and shrubs arent gonna stop erosion when we get 6 inches of rain in 3 days....getting that green carpet down to slow the flow and obsorb water is the key....a 20 acre field of grass will absorb much more water and has much more leaf surface than 20 acres of trees and shrubs....especially large mature trees....grassland builds top soil brotha....look into it...BTW thanks for all the comments...I can tell you are truly interested...believe me..I have done my research and spend tens of thousands of $$$ on this farm project..and much more to come....it's easy to talk permaculture until you get to a 200 acre tract of land....then you crap your pants!! Believe me this is the next Polyface...but better!!!
