Have you really been to Japan and not known the language if you haven't done that? 😅😅 Those memories will continue to haunt my dreams for the rest of time hahaha
Just comprehension is so important to learning a language. The animations help so much on first listening. You are doing a great job, please keep making these
This is so funny because I tried to go to 7-11 and the first time, I was asked if I wanted a bag. I didn’t know, but then I learnt from a friend that the keyword “fukuro” means if I wanted a bag. Second day, I went back to the conbini. I was confident, but instead of Fukuro, the cashier said “atatamemasuka?” Which at the time, I didn’t understand. 😭 My friend said she asked if I wanted to heat up my food. 3rd day, I’m waiting for “fukuro” or “atatame”, but then she said “pointokado”, 😢. But now I got it! I think 😂 This happened to me years ago, but your video covered it all and really brought back memories ❤.
I understood about half of what they were saying the first time and that makes me so happy. This time last year I probably would have only understood “hai” “ie” and “onegaishimasu”. I still have a long way to go, but thank you for making these videos as they have helped me improve my Japanese so much!
I am 54 and learning japanese, must say this is wonderful for beginners bcs it's fun, funny but also realistic enough to apply in everyday life while visiting or living in japan. I aim to make nihongo my 3rd language 😊 Your stories are so much fun and encouraging bcs whatever I've learned I can continue to practice plus add more to my vocabulary. Domo arigato gozaimasu kara Panama❤
UA-cam recommendations are spying on me because I am planning my very first trip to Japan in less than a month, but I am actually so happy I got this recommended. This is just about my level in the Japanese language - did 2 years of weekly evening lesson after uni lectures - but I have kind of fossilized in my progression. So with all of that, I am so eager to learn more!
Thank you so much for your comment!🙏 I'm so glad to hear that my video makes you feel eager to learn Japanese!! I hope you have a great time in Japan soon! 😊
0:52 「あたたたた?」🤣 This actually helped me learn the word for "warm" when I saw it a few weeks later in WaniKani lessons. I was already familiar with the word, because of this UA-cam video. So now, I just think of Midori-san at the コンビニ when I want to remember the word for "warm."
I’m in Japan and this video helped me so much! Try to remember the keyword and you’ll be good. In Japan, they speak quietly and super fast so try to train your ears for that. Most of the time they will ask about the bag first and you can reply in English. For payment, you can just hold cash or a card and they’ll understand you in case you don’t want to interact with them. Thank you so much for this video! Very helpful!
Thank you so much for your comment! I'm extremely happy to hear that the video helped you when you shopped at konbini in Japan!!😊🙏Thank you for watching my video!
Coming from a high schooler taking japanese 2 at school, these are definitely things you'll see in the lesson, so if you are just learning off of youtube, I highly recommend this! ❤
This is very useful. I practiced it during my 10 hour flight to Tokyo. When I got there and went to Family Mart in Roppongi, the clerk responded in English and broke the entire flow and crushed my confidence, so I gave up. I would never do that to an immigrant or visitor in America speaking English. This used to happen to me in Taiwan (I lived there for years and spoke fluent mandarin) but I thought Japanese people were more respectful than that. I guess maybe he might not be Japanese though…
Thank you for putting the effort into practicing your Japanese with my video! I hope you don't feel too discouraged by the experience and try again another time! 🙏
Half a year ago I understood almost nothing of this video. Coming back now I understand it fully, even when I wasn't confident in my learning pace. Every little bit you learn helps! Believe in yourself! 頑張ってね 😊
I'm proud that I could understand the ''nikuman hitotsu kudasai'' sentence. Kudasai is please of course, hitotsu has a ''u'' at the end, meaning it's the verb, and nikuman is the subject, the steamed bun.
I wished I had watched this before visiting Japan! So useful especially since I struggled to understand what the staff said in the convenience stores. Thank you ❤
I love your videos so much. I like how clearly and slow the dialogue is spoken, it's easy to comprehend for beginners. I love the aesthetically pleasing animation too. ありがとうございます!
This is so much fun! I'm glad I found this channel! I can relate to the gaijin alien whenever the clerk rephrases the bag and payment-method question. ありがとうございました‼😀楽しかったです‼
Beautiful, i watch this, even though i am not learning Japanese but i miss gentle, honesty and politeness and i can feel it from this. Also cuteness. thank you~
Thank you for making this suggestion into a great video! Midori-san's conbini experience feels very familiar to my own with the same struggling points. Many of the different expressions were explained well too. I will surely review this before my next conbini trips!
Thank you so much for your comment! I hope this video will be helpful for your next conbini trips! 🙏 Thank you for suggesting the topic idea to me too! 😊
I love learning with this kind of format, its easy and fun! Also the animation and characters are so cuteeeeeeee 😭😭(let me be honest that this is my reason to subscribe)
Japparot San, I understood the conversation even before you explained it English. Also thank you so much for the free PDF because I love learning Nihongo. I appreciate you. お疲れ 様でした。
I passed JLPT N3 like 8 years ago, and now I'm back to basics because I've forgotten almost everything 😅 Don't stop studying because it will be a waste of effort. Anyway thanks for the cute videos!
Thank you for the video and your channel, I love it very much, I am Russian myself, learning Japanese and repeating English, the video helps a lot, keep up the good work❤
I love your channel! I'm so pround of myself 'cause i've improved a lot! I've understood almost everything. I almost cried of happiness! Your great work made my day better, thx!
Will it sound strange/repetitive to answer most questions with “はい、おねがいします” or is this how a native speaker would answer as well? I’m trying to sound less like a foreigner to the best of my ability
I loved it when the customer said "yes, please" when asked how they want to pay. That's exactly what I did in konbini once 😅
Have you really been to Japan and not known the language if you haven't done that? 😅😅 Those memories will continue to haunt my dreams for the rest of time hahaha
It happens even in the customer's own native language 🤣

This is so well done! If there's one guaranteed language interaction you're going to have in Japan, it's the Konbini one.
