I think it is clear that the economic model which works on the principle of infinite growth is just fundamentally wrong. Regardless of population size, we must restructure our economy in a way it is sustainable for a longer term.
That assertion they make is also not true. There will be more limited economic growth if the population shrinks rapidly, but there is actually an equilibrium point where it is just maintainable.
Our economic model was always going to collapse. It’s absurdly unsustainable and any 10 yr old can see this. Earth is finite. Infinite “growth” where growth=turning the materials the earth is composed of into products to be sold, which must then be turned into garbage so that more products can be sold than before…that is a ridiculous equation that can never lead to anything BUT collapse. There isn’t a “solution” to this fact. The “natalist” concept is simply a distraction from having to face the reality of what our economic system always was and still is; unsustainable. Now that the symptoms of it’s inevitable outcome are more and more obvious, the very wealthy will only work harder and harder to ignore the truth, because it threatens their faith in money and in their own superior natures by virtue of having all the money. The rest of us have not got that luxury. And many of the younger folks, completely unsurprisingly, are deciding not to have children.
It's proven that none of such measures are doing anything to increase the rates. Hungary, South Korea etc has spend billions for increasing the rates, even though Hungary has seen mild success it's now projected to fall again.
They don't seem to care about the humane side of things, just from the "resource/tool" kind of things. They want to preserve the system "...the economy is going to crumble" not the people.
When the oceans stop rising. When coral stops bleaching. When animals and plants stop going extinct at an alarming rate, etc, etc. Then fine go at it and have all the kids you can muster. But when you want an abundance of children because of the economy it just doesn't seem good enough. This video was also amazingly lily white.
Or lowered the cost of living by eliminating tariffs. barring hedge fund from gobbling up property and forgiving college loans, all things Republicans block.
There's a two way relationship; the ludicrous, extreme wealth that billionaires have, is very conducive to developing all kinds of mental neuroses, being so fundamentally disconnected from the reality and experience of 99.999% of humanity. As well, it typically takes a certain kind of psychopathy, greed, and drive for power over all else to attain that level of wealth, if you're not just born into it.
Not only the rich people think the same (or similar way). But it's them who have much higher chance to appear on TV (or other media). There are quite a lot of working class people thinking similarly.
Naw, it's just natural selection. The toddler who develops the height, intelligence, and/or manual dexterity to acquire and operate the weapon first will win. Income inequality causes low birth rates? Yet somehow the richest countries have the lowest birth rates and poor countries have much higher birth rates. Your sources are wrong.
Wealth inequality is not the reason for declining birth rates. People who live in extreme poverty have more children than those who live western lifestyles. The reason for low birth rates is that our culture no longer respects parenting. We have gone from a time when everyone would be praised for having loads of children to one where people are shamed for creating more consumers of fossil fuels.

My personal belief, is that low birth rates are simply the natural result of late stage capitalism. For most of history, having a family was considered the ultimate status symbol. But now it is your career and your money. And humans are naturally status seeking creatures. Until society starts looking up to parents the same way we look up to the rich and successful, nothing will change. The reason why fertility rates are down everywhere is because it has become too expensive to raise kids for even a minimum decent life. The reason for that is education is costly and not publicly financed. But one other reason is also that the salaries for common jobs aren't growing at the pace of inflation, and at the same time workers are being overworked than normal hours. I suspect the lack of good labour laws(which provide a level playing field between employer and employees) is responsible for this. The wealth is getting transferred from the middle class to the rich company/business owners. Labour is getting exploited. When common life gets so difficult/competitive and full of struggle, it's no wonder people don't want to raise kids.
The economy was made to serve the people. If said economy becomes an inconvenience or forces people to have more children while recieving smaller paychecks (thus making their lives harder) the economy should be changed, not fertility rates.

Wealth inequality is not the reason for declining birth rates. People who live in extreme poverty have more children than those who live western lifestyles.

If the election system in the US was like some others in the world the republicans won't see the White House from the inside (or maybe only on TV).
because they have money...
@@mr.unknownindian1764 India huh...☺️, what is your reply like a gag?, it's just that it's easier to have kids when you're rich, you get to spend money thinking that you'll do a good job, as opposed to not having that option, in both cases you end up doing a terrible job, but psychologically you get to "feel" better😂, India!😂😂, the people factory!🤣🤣🤣😂
Better living and working conditions generally makes people more likely to want to have kids.
Hear hear!
I feel like I’m being gaslighted. Maybe if the 0.01% isn’t hoarding all the wealth then people can afford to have kids.
Aye
I'm favoured only God knows how much I praise Him, $230k every 4weeks! I now have a big mansion and can now afford anything and also support God’s work and the church.
Only God knows how much grateful i am. After so much struggles I now own a new house and my family is happy once again everything is finally falling into place!!
Wow that's huge, how do you make that much monthly?
I'm 37 and have been looking for ways to be successful, please how??
It's Ms. Susan Jane Christy doing, she's changed my life.
I started pretty low, though, $5000 thereabouts. The return came massive. Joey is in school doing well, telling me of new friends he's meeting in school. Thank you Susan Christy, you're a miracle.
My Mother taught me Young “have as many as YOU can afford”….. I have one ☝🏾 child who is now 20 and she doesn’t want kids either
They can raise as many kid as they want money is no problem. For Normal people having even 2 is more than difficult. Money matters.
Eugenics lol. They should say what they mean. They'll never win this though, it's too late.
Imagine their 99th percentile child grows up to end humanity.
One solution is that Motherhood should be a high paying career.
💯 No more unpaid domestic labor and unpaid emotional labor along with putting so much physical, mental and financial stress on a woman's body.
I wonder if they also selected their embryos for nose size. Listening to the Collins's and their Silicon Valley backers makes me think the ideal world for these people was 1930s Germany. Terrifying.
Wow, it’s the zombie revenge of the nerds… look at that wacko multitasking on the treadmill with a M16 hanging on the wall behind her 😂….
I am a nerd and I feel obliged to agree with you...just don't put us all in the same basket 😂
Oh come on now! That looks more in the M4 family.
Malcolm and Simone are so weird. They seem like siblings.
@@teresamagnusson maybe they are, trying to keep the descendant line "clean".
@@cai0I wouldn't be surprised.
That is the dorkiest-looking couple I've ever seen.
Its almost as if structuring our entire system on continuous/unlimited growth is unsustainable...
Hey look, more rich people out of touch with reality.
Easier for them to say, they’re 🤑
3:56 "Brave New World" Aldous Huxley predicted this. Great book
The economy was made to serve the people. If said economy becomes an inconvenience or forces people to have more children while recieving smaller paychecks (thus making their lives harder) the economy should be changed, not fertility rates.
Sorry, these people just don't look trustworthy to me.
Are you in the inner circle?
