Hello! If you are curious on how the fold is holding up here is an update: ua-cam.com/video/M6wyu6VOwYE/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared You know i love this phone, but i was thinking of making a video on the things i dislike about this phone after using it daily for so long. Would you be interested?
i would sell you mine for way cheaper i have a warranty claim from bestbuy and get the new one and use my iphone so you can get the brand new for way less why would i do this best used price is 600 im not going that low so im thing 700 or 800 brand new. i would rather look out for a person then for corporate america taking good product without fair to little compensatio. FYI sounds great but ill probably have to do sale local
Great video. I have the Z Fold 5 and agree that it's an incredible phone. I actually prefer the small form factor of the outer screen for replying to texts and scrolling through my feed. Ultimately, Samsung' app optimization, warranty, and trade-in incentives, which are second to none, keep me a happy customer
@abc-jm2zq Absolutely, but I have a Spigen Thin Fit P case with a Spigen Magnetic Ring Plate that has a generic ring buckle that allows me to use the Fold securely with one hand
Couldn't agree more. I've had mine for about 3 weeks now and I can't see myself ever going back to a regular style phone. The Game Boy emulation is also perfect for it when it's open. I have all my old GBC and GBA games on it and that's also phenomenal. Thanks for the battery routine tip. One recommendation: when you're folding it closed, push on the bottom by the frame, not the middle of the screen
Had my f5 for about a week now, love it..may never go back. Made the switch from the note8(2017)..got the Samsung case with the pen and that is good enough for me. Oh and i really like the size of the outside screen,it just works for one hand
I have been used samsung galaxy s10+ for a 5 years almost and now get on this one fold 5 and I can't wait until I will have it in my hands bcz your video inspire me to get it and review after one month its really good and I will enjoy it until 5 years and more :D
I have the same Ringke case but in the CLEAR MATTE finish, it's actually very resistant to fingerprints compared to the clear verison which I had initially used as well. I'm doing the same as you, I don't use the front part of the case and using it halfway naked. I've had my Fold 5 since Sept 16, 2023, which is about 37 days. I love it as well and I've actually used it for work to take in calls (video calling with customers - Zoom, Google meet), while using multiple web based software (CRM, etc.), Gmail, Google Calendar all at the same time. It was my backup when my desktop died and I used it for a week with no issues. I really can't go back to ordinary slab phones now! I agree with you on the front screen being smaller. Why get a fold and focus on using the front screen versus unfolding it. That's the whole point of the fold. I do think you need to start using swipe to type up front as that solved all my typing issues. I actually type so much faster now because of swipe typing (I also use it now for the inside screen when typing - floating KB). As for wireless charging, I use an official Samsung wireless charger and the heating isn't an issue for me, it's warmer than normal but it doesn't feel like it's burning. What wireless charger did you use? Also, for some reason I got a free upgrade to the 512 GB when I got my phone. I ordered the 256 GB originally but they said they had a promo that you get a free upgrade when I ordered. I got lucky I guess. Enjoy owning the Fold 5!
I'm currently using this one. Is there a better one you can suggest I try? www.samsung.com/us/mobile/mobile-accessories/phones/wireless-charger-single-pad-black-ep-p1300tbegus/
@@thekaydubz I actually have the 3 in 1 charger. What I forgot to tell you is when I charge with the 3 in 1 charger I leave the fold a bit open (like 45* open to dissipate the heat better). I'm worried that when your charging wirelessly that the screen folded might heat up.
For wireless charging heating up, I had the same problem. However, once I unchecked "Fast wireless charging" in the "Battery and device care" setting, the problem went away. Since you charge overnight, I assume that's an option you could try. Thanks for the video!
You can resize your keyboard outside screen and inside as well. I didn't know until 4 months into this phone. Makes a HUGE difference especially with sausage fingers like myself.
I had a Fold 3. I got a great deal from Samsung on my Fold 5. 25% discount and $1000 trade in on my Fold 3. I'm paying $25 a month for 24 months for my $1999 phone with Samsung Care included. 👍😊❤️
My fold 4 got the black screen of death on Sunday. i was so sad. Luckily I have insurance, so when I talked with them they mentioned they no longer had any more fold 4s in stock so I got a free upgrade to fold 5 ! ! Love it so much.
@thutawintun5539 It was a good 6 months with no issues. I dropped it a lot with no front screen protector yet it never cracked. Enjoying my fold 5 now.
Got my Fold 5 512GB for less than week ago with Samsung care+ and the only thing I am not sure if I like is the S pen case. It adds bulk, catches more dust on front screen, serve as S pen storage, resolves folded phone table wobble and hides nice blue frosted glass of the phone. Its love and hate relationship with that case but I cant say anything bad about this phone. I was tired of the candybar phones and this finally feels fresh and exciting. Samsung One UI is also better skin compared to my previous 4 years on the OnePlus phones and I enjoy learning something new each day.
I have just bought this fold in the 512gb variant. This is an upgrade from my S10 lite, 128gb model. I have never spent so much money on a mobile device, i normally buy refurbished devices etc. I agree that Samsung and other main manufacturers (Apple!) need to "do better" with regard to providing accessories such as charger, S-Pen and a case, its absolutely disgraceful to spend this much on a device and then have to spend yet more on what I consider are essentials! I am not using mine until my case arrives as I'm paranoid about dropping or scratching it without an appropriate case. I am aware that many reviews have been negative about the "narrow" front screen, this is something that i personally do not have an issue with, however there are other "foldables" that offer a wider front screen such as the Pixel Fold etc, its a matter of personal preference and its nice to see that the foldable market is becoming much more competitive which is great news for the consumers! Thus far my biggest gripe is that the Fold does not come with the S-pen that they have in the Ultra and that the S-pen does not work on the cover screen! That is just not right!! As i have said earlier, Samsung need to "do better". Overall, its a great piece of tech, well built etc, lets hope over time it proves to be reliable and resilient.
I couldn't agree more ,I'm 35. And from my first ever phone being a Samsung cd920 lol I got the iPhone 2g and thereafter exclusively using iPhone all the way to last month. And it feels like night and day lol. I'm never ever changing back , there's way too much difference between them
I switched from iphones back in 2021 and got the Z fold2...i will never go back... i now own the Z fold2, Z fold4 and Z fold5..i did get the Xiamoi Mix fold3 this yr and the hardware was/is phenomenal, but the UI fall way short so i sent it back..the Z fold series UI is the best out there..
Wanted to ask as you uses Samsung Fold 2,4 and now Fold 5 , did you ever had any inner screen issues like screen ripping off, screen tearing etc, any kind of inner screen issues you encountered?? If you did then after how many months etc. I am planning to buy one this Nov, so wanted to know how durable Samsung Z fold 5 inner screen is? There is so much on social media on the folding phones issues related to inner screen which worries me and that's why I am thinking to buy an iPhone. Can u please let me know. Thanks
@@neilbaba2352Get the Fold5 512GB during Black friday sales and purchase Samsung care+ like I did. Currently you get 4 inner screen foil exchanges for free in 3 years period after that its like $30 per exchange. For inner screen defects I was advised to get care+ as Samsung representative experienced denied RMAs and basic warranty does not cover dead pixels.
It’s on my radar, but I will wait and see what improvements they make with the Z Fold 6. If they make the outer display wider and implement a built-in Bluetooth S-Pen, I will 100% buy one. Also, they need to do a better job with the crease; it’s very noticeable. OnePlus’s crease is significantly less noticeable.
Amazing phone! The only think I hate about Samsung is texting in a group chat with iPhone users and how sometimes you receive pics or videos individually. Also you can’t see some messages if the iPhone user doesn’t have the SMS on. Other than that it’s an amazing phone.
Yeah that's just the separation between imessage and every android phone, and it's one of the biggest selling points of the iPhone. I have so many friends that only use iPhone and tell me to use iPhone because of imessage alone. Luckily Apple should be implementing RCS chat sometime this year!
Thank you very much for the great review. Would it be possible to upload a short video of how the Kindle app looks on the inner display? I would mainly be using this for reading ebooks so I don't need to bring a tablet as well. Take care.
Great review. After seeing this review, i am ready to buy it. I had fold 2 previously but the inside LCD broke (black screen) after 2 months of usage. I hope Fold 5 will last longer in terms of durability.
And it's specifically narrow so your able to easily use the phone with on hand , most phone , like seriously ,90% of phones you need to hold it with both hands , the zfold is specifically designed so it can be used with a single hand comfortably and safely
I wanted to love the folding phones so bad. I had a fold 3 for a year and some change, cracked the front and got a replacement fold 4. Never had any issues but the wow factor wore off for me. I have a 23 ultra now but I love seeing people enjoy their foldables!
I just love the big screen so much, makes viewing everything so much easier for my eyes. I'm not tired of the fold yet but we will see in a year or so if that will change!
I made a direct comparison to my S23 ultra last night at Bestbuy. I was shocked how small the Fold 5 outer display was. I would be opening it constantly except maybe phone calls.
I have been looking for a fold5 review from a note or ultra user. I'm currently on 22 ultra, never used a fold. I waiting for THAT reason to buy fold 5
Using up while wireless charging, that's not normal. Mine doesn't do that. It's such a low charge rate it doesn't make sense. But I believe you. Great review!
Nowadays I see that most apps, photos, videos and apps have become larger and larger in terms of storage requirements. I remember buying a 128gb phone in 2018, from 64gb which was the basic model. I felt so bad I paid a little bit more, but now I remember I feel sad I didnt get the 256gb. The longer you have a phone, the larger the storage should be since software becomes increasingly storage hungry over the years. Also bear in mind that if you get the basic version, it is also much slower than a larger 512gb or 1TB version, since it is lower storage.
I just like to mention that you can change the keyboard to remove the gap in the middle.. You also have the same option with Gboard which in my opinion is much better.
Watchin on my fold 5. Lol love phone/tab combo. To be honest to the front screen is narrow but i kinda like it lol Im just trying to find a good case wirh kickstand. Or maybe a popsocket type of thing on it?? If anyone knows
You can buy a sd reader which plugs into the micro c port these have the option to charrge the phone without unplugging the sd adapter, works great and under a case you cant see it
I had 3 of these had problems with all of them screen bubbling After 1 year can't use pen on front screen front screen small and much heavy than standard phone changed to 23 ultra so much more practical
Gotta have hinge protection. The Spigen slim case with full hinge protection is a must. I agree on insurance. Usually a bad deal, but not with a folding phone. It's a great phone though, I love my Zfold5.
Please use the front cover as well. That's the mistake I made with my fold 3 ,didn't like it with cover. I am very careful with my phones and never have I ever broke a phone in my life. But guess 2hat I dropped it on the road and broke the front right corner. I would definitely recommend front cover.
May i suggest tinkering with the dpi option in developer options to further take advantage of the big screen to show more content, sweet spot for my eyes is 396 on the outter screen, which automatically translates to about 417 or 420 on inner bigger screen. Care for that z fold 5 it'll serve u beautifully. Im still rocking the z fold 2, and you're absolutely right about going back to the traditional candybar phone.
I had to have my zfold 5 replaced after 2days purchase, suddenly the inside screen has green tint on left side. since I've got the samsungcare+ warranty, they replace it with a new phone and currently rocking well. lets hope there is no similar problem with this phone or others in the future.
My biggest gripe with this phone is not the skinny screen as most complain about but rather the thickness, they really need to work on slimming it down. As this would reduce the weight also.
I still have my S8 but it's cracked so bad lol 😂 The screen is missing. I would definitely still use it if it was working. I'd still use my S22 too but I went out acting stupid one day and lost it so I decided to get the fold 3 which I got refurbished for $600. It came in perfect condition. Only weird thing is the volume stopped working which I found out is a common issue with these phones so now I have to use Bluetooth headsets. Anyways, I'm having a tough choice choosing between getting another fold or the S24. The S24 is def what I've been waiting for for years. The flat screen and back is gorgeous.
I have a fold 3 that suffer "wear and tear " on the flex cable after usage of abt 1.5yrs. the flex cable needs to be replaced as a consequence. Fact that these flips and folds suffers from flex cable damage , im not going back to these type of phones anymore despite the pros
If the phone comes open, should we be storing it (or charging it overnight) with it open? to try and reduce the creasing? Thanks great review, looking at getting one in the very near future
What I read is that when the phone is open, that's actually the original or "resting" position which is why it comes open. When closed it puts slightly more stress on the hinge, but not much. You can leave the phone open all the time but the screen is just easier to scratch since it's much softer than the external glass screen. I wouldn't worry about it too much, I usually close the phone whenever I'm not using it
Omg, s8 lol. That was forever ago. This should be there #1 flagship and get the best cams as it's 2000,just doesn't make sense besides trying to fit all of it in a slim build. I'd take thicker for better cams and a spen inside.
I have the z fold 4 and i too have a clear case only rocking the back side of the case i also have the Galaxy Buds 2 with a clear case only on the bottom.
I using the officlal Samsung wireles charger for my s10 without problem of charge or warming. I use this same tool in my car and like you, my phone was really really warm, do you use official wireless charger ?
Yeah I have an official samsung wired and wireless charger. I haven't used the wireless charger since I got the phone though since it was making it super hot
Currently rock'n s9 64g with no space available Need an upgrade asap. Im feeling Xiaomi design but slacking on software especially what you can do with the S-pen.
Got my f5 a week ago 512 for free trading in my note8..I loved that phone and my pen...but I got the Samsung case with pen and I've accepted just fine. I'm now af the feeling that I felt with my note8 I will never go back. If they do a fold with a built in pen I might even pay up a little with a trade in
I'm the same. it's going to be hard to go back to a candy bar style phone. I purchased my Z Fold 3 at about just under $3000 Canadian. Foldable phones are not cheap. I'm hoping that the Z Fold 6 is bringing back the micro SD card slot.. but doubt that's going to happen. Still rock the Fold 3.. gonna use it till it dies.. then I guess drop another $3K on a Foldable. (Canadian prices and buying it straight out of any contract if you're wondering why so much)
@@thekaydubz by the time the Fold 6 comes out, the Fold 3 doesn't get much back. maybe $100 back if I'm lucky. They usually give you top dollar for the most recent. By then, I just use it as a backup.
Hi! Nice review. I need to know what happens when you have a call and you're in tablet mode. Can you fold the phone and answer the phone after? Or do you have to take it in tablet mode and it looks kind of funny? Thx
You should be able to fold it while in a call. Shouldn't leave a call when you fold I don't think. I always take the calls while folded tho since its big and awkward to hold when unfolded unless I use speaker
Pretty much how I feel after having it 4 days and wish I'd gone for the 512gb. I just bought a Samsung type c 256GB flash drive from Amazon for £20 and just move stuff like movies to and from it instead 👍
maybe your charger my gets warm but not hot but then i never charge my phone over night i just make sure its above 90% before i sleep then put it into flight mode till i wake
oh and I 100 % Ageee with what your saying about closing it haha,, the only way to describe it , is every time to close the phone ....the moment it clicks shut you think to yourself.. yup... thats expensive lol
My fold 4 was great until the hinge stopped me from opening up the phone. And after my warranty expired.I loved the fold experience but for this price which is already insane there should a lifetime warranty or better durability.Ill probably get the 24 ultra or switch to Apple.Gotta get more value out of a phone that cost 2 stacks
Great review. Wondering why you didnt show the complete back view of the phone. You keep covering the bottom of the phone with your thumb at a specific place. Just curious. Thank you
the screen inside has a plastic layer if you take it off you will feel the glass smooth, some people take it off and rocking it raw for the feel but thatsjust way too risky
Just came to say i will never go back to a regular phone. With that said, Samsung needs to make this their best phone idc if its 1800. Or 2000 i want the best camera over iPhone and anything else, best battery, SD card, better outer display and just premium and exclusive features and a different UI first. It doesn't have to be an s24, ultra it needs to be a tablet when open idc. Its such a great device. I will always upgrade to the next fold because its that amazing
3weeks later a guy like me got a military discount on top of even better offered discounts and I just picked up the fold 5 512gb model (without a trade in) after tax and all for $1046 U.S. I feel like I made out like a fat cat. It's actually a few bucks more then what I got my Tab S9 Ultra for with the 513l2GB storage w/the $350 keyboard (but I traded my Tab S6+ and got my military discount) for. Sometimes you guys gotta wait alittle for them to start throwing you those big discounts.

Great review. After seeing this review, i am ready to buy it. I had fold 2 previously but the inside LCD broke (black screen) after 2 months of usage. I hope Fold 5 will last longer in terms of durability.
Haven't had any issues with mine so far!
@@thekaydubz Amazing!
And it's specifically narrow so your able to easily use the phone with on hand , most phone , like seriously ,90% of phones you need to hold it with both hands , the zfold is specifically designed so it can be used with a single hand comfortably and safely
Im a die-hard apple guy, and i bought this phone specifically for pokemon Go, but i am loving this as a main phone more and more
3:11 also, the sticky strips get dirty after a while.
It's great for watching films and playing games; I had it for a month.
I appreciate the input on this phone. Because if u a may consider the 512 gig. Excited about my first fold. Thank u. Good. Video
Insurance is a must with the fold I've already had to use it twice.
Using up while wireless charging, that's not normal. Mine doesn't do that. It's such a low charge rate it doesn't make sense. But I believe you. Great review!
Yessir. Very informative. Thank you
Check out the settings and also the Themes.
Dark light theme is money
Sound is not loude at all.
To be honest to the front screen is narrow but i kinda like it lol
Im just trying to find a good case wirh kickstand. Or maybe a popsocket type of thing on it?? If anyone knows
You can buy a sd reader which plugs into the micro c port these have the option to charrge the phone without unplugging the sd adapter, works great and under a case you cant see it
Definetly my next phone, with a matte screen protector
Watching from my Fold ❤
Fold gang!
Idk how people use nav buttons and not gestures 😅
Ordered a military polyurethane case. Top notch, camera lense glass, Titanium steel circles, tempered glass
You should get the Gostek case, cover the side too 😉
I had 3 of these had problems with all of them screen bubbling
After 1 year can't use pen on front screen front screen small and much heavy than standard phone changed to 23 ultra so much more practical
Jst dont drop it. Because if the Screen protector started to peel it means the inner screen will be replaced soon. ( flex not durable)
you can change the inner split keyboard to a full keyboard by pressing the setting cog just above the keyboard
I like the split!
Hi, can you invoke Google Assistant or Gemini when the screen is off and locked? Thanks in advance!
I agree. I gave up my iPhone 13 Pro and now I can go back to a regular slab phone.
I think that would be nice too. Isn't the oneplus open thinner than the Z Fold 5?
My bro still uses an S8 to this day 😆. My dad got the s24 ultra and that thing looks huge in person
Can't wait for the Fold 6 which will have a bigger front screen!
Thanks good 👍.
.1 it seems you don't need S pen .
2. What do you think about using excel and drawings, is it will be suitable..?
I have a fold 3 that suffer "wear and tear " on the flex cable after usage of abt 1.5yrs. the flex cable needs to be replaced as a consequence. Fact that these flips and folds suffers from flex cable damage , im not going back to these type of phones anymore despite the pros
Hope that doesn't happen to mine
Best honest review thansKs
I like z fold 5 but I wish I got it for free and will it not brake
Good review!
Very enjoyable man thanks
If the phone comes open, should we be storing it (or charging it overnight) with it open? to try and reduce the creasing?
Thanks great review, looking at getting one in the very near future
What I read is that when the phone is open, that's actually the original or "resting" position which is why it comes open. When closed it puts slightly more stress on the hinge, but not much. You can leave the phone open all the time but the screen is just easier to scratch since it's much softer than the external glass screen. I wouldn't worry about it too much, I usually close the phone whenever I'm not using it
@@thekaydubz ok thanks
...males are so sweet with their toys 😉 , nice review 👌
We love our tech!
Omg, s8 lol. That was forever ago. This should be there #1 flagship and get the best cams as it's 2000,just doesn't make sense besides trying to fit all of it in a slim build. I'd take thicker for better cams and a spen inside.
Ye I even bought that s8 refurbished off ebay when it was a year old or something. I didn't really care much about phones back then lol
I do agree, i do prefer fold too
I have the z fold 4 and i too have a clear case only rocking the back side of the case i also have the Galaxy Buds 2 with a clear case only on the bottom.
I got the 512 free. Also $1000 VZW trade in on a 3 yr old Note 20 Ultra. No brainer for me. Love this Zfold 5, also my first foldable!
My dilemma right now…freaking love the note…anything you miss coming from note 20 to this?
I'm literally about to do the same
Got my f5 a week ago 512 for free trading in my note8..I loved that phone and my pen...but I got the Samsung case with pen and I've accepted just fine.

(Canadian prices and buying it straight out of any contract if you're wondering why so much)
Will you be able to trade in the fold 3? Should be able to get a decent amount back!
@@thekaydubz by the time the Fold 6 comes out, the Fold 3 doesn't get much back. maybe $100 back if I'm lucky. They usually give you top dollar for the most recent. By then, I just use it as a backup.
Great video!! Thank you 🙏
Dude, You start work early. I do 85% charge too. Unless I'm hiking. Then I need max battery for GPS.
I'm with you and only used the back cover for my Fold4 and now Fold5
Hinge protection is key!
i have my Z Fold 5 set up to not use fast wireless charging and use power saving mode at night when charging and i dont get over heating.
Three years later, I'm still enjoying my $1700 Z fold 2 and my Z fold 2 is still enjoying me. Not upgraded my device until the wheels fall off.
Nice to hear even the fold 2 has been holding up really well after 3 years!
@@thekaydubz I got for work to replace my iPad. Still need a desktop to print and fax docs.
Graat video i have the fold 5 and it already has some scracthes on the bezel has your got any scracthes on the frame at all ?
No noticeable scratches on mine so far!
Hey, what wallpaper is that? The dragon one. Thanks!
O it's a picture I took at night at a lantern event
oh and I 100 % Ageee with what your saying about closing it haha,, the only way to describe it , is every time to close the phone ....the moment it clicks shut you think to yourself.. yup... thats expensive lol
I am going to buy my next Fold phone from Samsung only when they incorporate the Periscope zoom lens on their next foldable.
I got the icy blue as well and i swear its purple
It definitely has a purplish tint not gonna lie. But that's how real men do 💪
@@thekaydubz only kings may wear the color of royalty
My fold 4 was great until the hinge stopped me from opening up the phone. And after my warranty expired.I loved the fold experience but for this price which is already insane there should a lifetime warranty or better durability.Ill probably get the 24 ultra or switch to Apple.Gotta get more value out of a phone that cost 2 stacks
That's unlucky, yeah durability is still my main concern with this phone but luckily so far so good
Great review. Wondering why you didnt show the complete back view of the phone. You keep covering the bottom of the phone with your thumb at a specific place. Just curious. Thank you
Lol I was just covering my IMEI serial code. Probably doesn't matter if I showed it but o well
the screen inside has a plastic layer if you take it off you will feel the glass smooth, some people take it off and rocking it raw for the feel but thatsjust way too risky
Yeah that's the screen protector
Isn't there a pre-installed screen protector over the inner screen?
Yep!
