Great video. Battery life has always been important to me, it is reassuring to have a phone that you don't even have to think about charging until you get ready to snooze.
Yesterday with my 14 plus I spent over 9 hours off charger while at work with a little over an hour on screen time with still 88% left when punching out at end of shift…😳
Because it's the same soc as last year just slightly overclocked. They've been doing this since the 11 series. 11 amazing battery, 12 dogshit overheating, 13 amazing, 14 worse battery than 13 but at least not overheating. 15 series will be amazing again and 16 will be worse. Rinse and repeat
I bought the iPhone 14 Plus back on release day weekend. It’s a great phone it has Great battery life It can last almost 2 days before I need to charge it. It has done that consistently every time. Yeah I could have bought a used iPhone 13 Pro Max or tried to find it new and pay more for it but I didn’t. I’ve had a few iPhones through the years and this phone by far is great for me to use on a daily basis.
I have both p7pro and the 23ultra. I've been in love with my pixel and planned on returning the ultra. But man I couldn't give it back. Incredible phone
@@DIPLAYER1866 Really can't say. Retired person who is stuck at home and my concert & festival days are over. :) Use my phone mostly FB, YT, Spotify, Netflix and video chatting with family members. Besides the normal phone function. Have a great day!
It's pretty wild that I can still manage 10+ hours of SoT on the S23 Ultra over about 30h and still have 10% left, and that's with 1440p, 120Hz & AOD always enabled.
I think the AOD, and the lingering animations of the dynamic island is decreasing the battery life along with iOS 16. Hopefully they address it soon with an update. I’m not holding my breath on it.
@@johnb8153 It's probably pretty close either way. I've seen a couple battery drain tests where the Ultra lasted a little longer and one where the + lasted a little longer. Tom's Guide is my go to for battery reviews and they got an extra hour with the Ultra. I really had a tough choice with which phone to pick. I ended up going with the Ultra because I didn't want to regret not getting it down the road. I'm sure anybody with the + will be plenty happy, though.
@@johnb8153 He's definitely not alone on bad talking the S23+. There are plenty of people who completely disagree with Samsung charging $1k for a phone that's 1080p. Personally, I don't really care because I'm perfectly fine with 1080p. Most of the games I play and movies I watch are in 1080p on monitors and TVs from 27"-58", so 1080p on a 6.8" screen is plenty good enough in my opinion.
I'm really surprised you went for the iphone 14 plus. You seem very particular about the 120hz refresh rates. I would have thought 60hz would have been a deal breaker for you. You should test the S23 Ultra battery life in 60hz just to see what you get.
Saturday I got 15h 27 mins screen on time with my s23 ultra I couldn't believe it and it was mostly on 5g.I don't allow my apps to run in the background and I use dark mode
That's crazy I usually get 7-8 screen on time with dark mode on and always on display off and I only do social media there isn't a single game on the phone 😂 I'm pretty much happy with the battery performance think it's decent enough but man the numbers you're all getting 😢😢😢
I love how you broke down the battery life for both phones. I currently have a Samsung Galaxy Z flip 3 5g the battery life sucks. I was just wondering which phone would you recommend? I have had both of them before great phones i just to know which one would recommend?????
I' was getting 10 hours from beginning of the charge to the end which includeds.the usage and battery saving tips. Did a whole factory reset. Nothing. I sent it for repairs and got it back saying no issues were found and passed the inspection...my phone.still 10 hours of use. They also said the did a new software update but I got the phone it was 19%. And I had to do another update. Then ppl on reddit are saying what I am getting is normal. But seeing all you all posts I know it's a lemon. Since start of presale I've spent over 27 hours on the phone customer service with no result. I don't know how to move forward
Dude I really enjoy all of your tech news on Android and i am on the fence about deciding between the iPhone 14 plus on the Samsung galaxy s23+ I've never owned a iPhone and I've often wondered what all the hype is about! First thing I'm looking for battery life and the device has got to be good outside in sunlight i currently use the Samsung S22 + compared side by side battery between the two and being able to see outside! My job requires me to use my own device and the company helps with my smartphone experience i have to take multiple photos and use the GPS I DO NOT have to have a high end camera or anything like that I got to be able to see my screen and to be honest my S22+ just ant happening the S23 ultra is really on my mind but the question was iPhone 14 plus vs Samsung 23+ Brightness battery life and my Budget depending on the money offered for my trade in! Verizon Wireless is my current carrier.....
I traded my 13 pro max for a 14 pro max I’ve had it just a bit over a month and my battery life is amazing it seems about the same as the 13 pm I can easily get through a day and then some even with the aod
my one has some unexpected battery drops. one day it will perform well and another day it will consume around 30% in 5hr with 30min SOT no unexpected apps. it wont go to deep sleep mode randomly until i manually restart
Battery life on my S22+ is just OK i would like it to be better but at least it lasts all day and it just short of a year old all the rest of the performance is good.
Samsung always out performed apple in battry always so just cut it please everyone in the world know samsunge battry last much longer than iphone every time
They never age well. You can still sell an old 5-6 year old iPhone on eBay all day long for several hundred dollars. A 2-3 year old Samsung device is literally worthless.
I currently have the 14 Pro and it barely get a full day out of it. I'm not a power user either. I'm seriously considering of selling off the iPhone and going for the cream S23 Ultra
@@TechOdyssey I've heard several complaints about the 14 Pro's battery life. The Pro Max seems to be the real successor in terms of battery life which is just strange to me.

Last year's Apple SOC was peak sippy. I don't know how they managed to bungle the iteration to this year so badly in terms of efficiency.
It’s iOS 16. My 13 mini had good battery life. But, as soon as iOS 16 came the battery life went down the toilet. The standby time was worse.
@@BigDaddy_BHJ1977 bearing in mind, his 14 plus is running iOS 16 and getting those numbers.

Is it worth trading the iPhone 14 plus for a Samsung galaxy s23 ultra
I tried my base s23 on 60 hz and got 37 hours of battery life. I could not believe it. 7 sot 30 hours of standby. 🤯
that's incredible

Sir how about s23plus with 4700mah battery compare to s23ultra? Does 300mah gap makes a big difference on battery life?
The S23 Ultra not only has the bigger battery but the refresh rate can drop down to 1hz at times, where the S23 and S23+ can't.
You also have to factor in if users are using only fhd or qhd display too. It could also effect the battery life.
