- Here's a recap of all the songs that competed for Lithuania in Eurovision Song Contest from 1994 to 2023. Please, enjoy!
Lithuania has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 23 times since its debut in 1994, where Ovidijus Vyšniauskas finished last, receiving "nul points". Lithuania withdrew from the contest, not returning until 1999. LT United's sixth place in 2006 with the song "We Are the Winners" is Lithuania's best result in the contest. The country reached the top ten for a second time in 2016, when Donny Montell finished ninth with "I've Been Waiting for This Night", and for the third time in 2021, finishing eighth with The Roop and "Discoteque".
As of 2022, Lithuania remains the only Baltic country that is yet to win the contest after wins for Estonia in 2001 and Latvia in 2002. However, since the introduction of the semi-final round in 2004, Lithuania has more final appearances than the other Baltic nations, with twelve, compared to nine for Estonia and six for Latvia.

@@Euro_Zack honestly, I don't understand the hype around Iceland that year, and its 4th place in 2021. my reaction was like: WHAT? how did it get into the top 5? like, it's an ordinary and I would even say a second-rate song, and I'll never understand why anyone liked it.

Lithuania has definently had it's ups and downs through the years. But they've also delivered some true gems. My favourites are their songs from 1999, 2018 and 2023. A guilty pleasure is also Aivaras song from 2002.
I'm still sad if I think than the edition of 2021 could have been take place in Vilnius if the edition of 2020 would have happened

The Lithuanian diaspora is really getting them decent placements. Since 2009 they’ve always done well with the televote even with average songs.
I hate how everyone always discredits Lithuania’s placements with their diaspora. Russia, turkey, Armenia, Poland are all literally right there and almost never get talked about but apparently 10 points from Norway and Ireland is the end of the world. Like there are countries that place top five for just existing almost every single year so💀 Also “average songs” that’s fully just your opinion.
Maybe the reason is that every single song from Lithuania till 2009 was an utter garbage?

But I did not know that this 6th position remains to this day the best ranking of Lithuania .

2014 and 2019 almost qualified. 2017 has been their only misstep since 2008. And that’s because that song was horrendous. Probably one of the top 5 worst in the last 10 years.
2019 is by far worse than 2017

I originally come from lithuania
Although I like Aistė's song "Strazdas" I can understand why it didn't impress European public. All later entries were a complete disaster up till 2015 (Vaidas and Monika). The Roop and Monika Linkytė absolutely slayed it. I also liked Ieva's entry, and Monika Liu is very highly overhyped.
So why didn't "Strazdas" impress the public back in 1999? That was real music, compared to the garbage that got much higher places both that year and many years later after that.

Overall, one of the weakest countries in the contest, unfortunately. They always try to invent their own formula, or poorly copy an existing one, but what they should do is to send what is really popular in their country. Honestly, out of almost two dozens of entries, none of them says “Lithuanian pop music” to me.

One of the most - if not the - most overrated country. Diaspora voting from Norway, Ireland, the UK and Poland puts them in places where they don't realy belong. Tbh, in my opinion only 2018 is a song worthy of points.

@@jsra54 monika liu beat out all her competition (in terms of slow female songs aside from Sweden maybe) in the televote even without the diaspora, just for reference. It’s not always the diaspora bringing them through. There are countries that literally get top five every single year just because they exist but Lithuania is overrated? I don’t see it personally.

Darling the thing is that Lithuania belongs to the diaspora benefitiated group, and yet, their songs, in terms of quality, are not that good, in my opinion, I just can't see it. Even if it's not always it's almost always, that's why if Lithuania gets out of final they're always 11th, it's the jurys that put them away, while other countries have to start with a ground base of 0 points in order to qualify, with much better songs.

In 2019, Lithuania's points were stolen, the song about a lion was worthy of a high place. 2020 The Roop should have won.
