To Leah: You can actually wear scarfs tied around your waist just like you would with belts :DD it lets you use the scarf and enjoy the colors without really having to be a "scarf person"
Levi, that "awkward transition phase" is still called "spring". ahahahaha! Couldn't help myself, but seriously, here in New Brunswick, we just had 40C weather earlier this week, and then frost warnings at night a couple days later. My strategy (also my wife's) is to find a piece of clothing we like, such as a dress or t-shirt, and then buy a few different colours of it so that our wardrobes are versatile but not filled with clothes that don't get worn often. Admittedly, now that I've joined the remote and work-from-home workforce, I have a bunch of dress shirts and pants that haven't been worn in over a year.
You came in clutch with the Dropps discount code because I was literally about to reorder my other zero waste laundry detergent, but now I get to try Dropps for cheaper. 👍
Same as maddie: don't be too hard on yourselves people! I'm progressively moving to a more simple wardrobe to eliminate some friction (all my jeans are the same now for example), little by little. But I keep buying some hats when I travel because that gives me something unique to wear when I want to be a little less bland/vanilla (and they are nice souvenirs to have on display!). Minimalism isn't about being perfect and having as little as possible. That holiday shirt is awesome! You're still wearing occasionnally and takins care of it, why should you get rid of it? If you like it, you should keep it! You may aim for perfection, but you should be satisfied with "good enough".
Ok this actually hits... I wore it for the b-roll I shot and leah said multiple times "damn, it just fits you so well"... so I might give it another season?
I don’t have one and it’s beyond frustrating! But I do have a co-Op and we try to shop there when we can (supporting local farmers) and we buy from bulk bins at the grocery store but they won’t let you use anything but their stupid plastic bags 🙄
Hello Levi, I just want to tell you that your channel is just fantastic. I am amazed to see that each new video addresses an issue that touches us all. We feel that each video has been thought out down to the smallest detail and that you produce them with rigor. As a young adult who creates his philosophy of life, I must tell you and Leah that through your thoughts and your joy of living, you inspire us to live better. In short, a big thank you!
I don’t have a minimalist wardrobe *yet* as I’m a believer in “using up what you already have first”. But I haven’t bought any new clothes in a very long time lol
I’m going to start wearing dresses more, Cotton and linen preferred. I’m currently wearing a thrifted dress that I would honestly wear throughout the week.
Leah I feel the same way with gifts! I've found that I have kept things and then when I bring it up to the person they go, "oh I forgot I got you that!" I've learned that the point of the gift (especially store bought gifts) is that they wanted to show you that they were thinking about you. If you don't like it or keep it, it has already served it's purpose in your life and theirs. Then, when you donate it or sell it, it can have a different purpose in another person's life and actually be used.
I wish I was a minimalist, but alas I"m not. 😢 I do also tend to hold onto things for a loong time. Unfortunately, because I work in an office setting (pre-covid) I do need to occasionally get formal/business wear, although I really only have a single suit, and a single blazer. I agree with the cold wash setting and NOT using the dryer. The only time I use my dryer is to dry bed sheets since my condo is too small to hang them up and even that is once in a blue moon. I'll toss in 2-3 bedding sets and do it all at once. I'm use my dryer 6-8months/year. Another bonus you didn't mention on hang drying is that you get the nice clean clothing smell. What can I say, I'm easy to please. 😊 Keep it up! 👍 PS- buyers remorse has an easy fix: the receipt and return policy. If I'm not sure about something or doesn't fit well, I just take it back. Although it's not something I tend to do often.
FOR THE PLANET!!! I legit have been debating on wanting to get dropps, and i have seen some other channels talk about them. SO you are the tipping point, and I will probably buy them after this round regular detergent. have a great day again i just LOVE all the videos produced from this channel! much love!!
Amazing video Levi! Keep making these. You inspired me to search for eco friendly detergent option in my country, India. And I found one. The next purchase is gonna be from there. See, this is how you and Leah change lives. Take care you both. Honestly, there are only two sets of people I wanna meet in real life. One is you both and one is Bonnie Wright cuz she's my very own Ginny Weasley and an environmentalist. I hope we meet someday.🤩🥰🤗🤗
That's so nice! You both have your kind of anxiety when it comes to clothes (leah the gift anxiety and levi the what-if-I-consume-the-wrong-way anxiety) but you can count on each other and both anxieties come from your wanting to be better people, for the world or for the ones you love. That's the world we want to live in!!!
I wouldn't be so hard on yourself... I'm holding onto my Winnipeg Jets jersey that I got when I was visiting my cousins four years ago, even though I'm Australian and don't even have a way to watch them play
I really relate to gifts becoming a source of anxiety... But it shouldn't be! I always try to remember that the person who gave you the gift just wanted you to be happy, so exchanging it for something you'll truly love will make them happy as well! But despite that, my closet is still filled with clothes I never wear that I got as gifts 😅
This is a great perspective! I also think people give gifts pretty mindlessly. The whole "it's the thought that counts" thing really just means that they bought you something for the sake of buying you something...
Loved the video!! Where did you guys get the drying rack from? I would love to start drying all my clothes that way but my thrift stores never seem to have drying racks for clothes and I din’t have enough hangers for that!
I will say, that last bit of "LIKE THE VIDEO" really did make me go and like the vide haha I'm by no means a minimalist, but have seen the clothes I wear and only wear and have really started trimming my clothes. I think moving around a lot also helped in that regard. Especially since I'm moving across the US this fall...I think that'll really help jumpstart the more minimalist lifestyle for me. And Leah, that red floral dress is AMAZING on you!
Would have loved to try drops if they shipped to Canada. Personally, I am still looking for more zero waste options in my area. I also have strong fear of buyers remorse - not just for cleaning products but also for thifted items if i havent bought that brand before. I do so much research, measuring my body and i have a minimum 1 day cool down (which lately has stretched to 2+ weeks where i continue to overthink the purchase and recheck the website to see if the items are still there....). It's a whole thing... but also helpful in weeding out a lot of unnecessary purchases.
I just recently started using Tru Earth! It's very similar to Dropps but Canadian Made and pretty affordable. Instead of a liquid its a solid stick of detergent! I'm a big fan! I buy them in bulk from my local coop so I was happy that I could buy only a few to try out. Now that I've tried them I love them and recommend them to everyone (unsponsored!).
Need to check out that GQ article, thanks for the recommendation. Also we really need to learn how to wash our clothes properly, it’s a driving force pushing us to buy more clothes. Always like your videos Levi, your channel is in my highly curated subscription ready to absorb what you have to say.
We got into air drying laundry on a rack after spending a few weeks in a hotel apartment in Eastern Europe. It had a tiny washing machine next to the sink in the kitchen, but no dryer, just a big aluminum rack that has a flat section and two fold up “wings” on the side. We don’t have laundry in our apartment, so we figured out that investing in one of those would save us a lot of money over time compared to feeding quarters into the dryers in the laundry room downstairs.
We live in ohio and we don't "summer/winter" our closets. I've found it cuts down over buying and rebuying. Also, it can be all 4 seasons in one day here hahaha .
I said I was going to wear more skirts (meaning I had to buy them) and I’m wearing one currently. Very happy with main thing that made me more comfortable is a pair of bike shorts. I feel much more comfortable and confident knowing I’m protected
1. If you close your eyes while listening to Levi, you'll hear Owen Wilson. 2. Levi wearing a Levi's shirt makes me giggle. 3. Body Appreciation Station commencing!
this was great! a great alternative to liquid detergents and even pods that are less impacting to the environment is to go back to using good old powdered detergent. There are so many that are made up of environmentally friendly ingredients and for sure are less than pods per load (think .15-.20 cents a load!). Pods are ok, but they still require tons of resources and water/liquid to put into those little pod forms.
Loved this video! Clothing and specifically shoes has always been a tough one for me. Admittedly I haven’t bought any new clothing items except to replace my worn runners in over a year. Im hoping to do another purge soon.
I've always been fine with getting rid of gifts I don't like or use, but my sister hates getting rid of gifts because she feels so guilty! Just depends on the person I guess. Thanks for another awesome video
You're just not a dress person, Leah! I'm not either. Find the freedom that is admitting that. Also, a lot of female-oriented clothing is a hindrance--high heels, bell sleeves, dresses/skirts all come with attention-stealing inconveniences. Let go of that burden if it's not worth it to you!
Same here! I own a single black dress that I wear on very very rare occasions but am much more comfortable in jeans or trousers. Like you said, admitting that is freeing.
I’m watching this while wearing a t-shirt that I got in high school (I’m now 31). And yet I have so many shirts in the closet that I got more recently but just don’t wear.
About the fear of rejecting someone because of gifts: Do you remember every gift you’ve given to every single person? And do you care if they use or wear it? I don’t and I think most people don’t care so much either 🙂 so you can say goodbye to it. And on top of that: we should feel good when putting cloth on, not bad because we don’t wear it but are afraid to hurt someone 😌 ps. liked the appreciation station song 😃🤗
Using the shortest cycle for washing clothes (rapid wash) usually wears your clothes faster and might affect how long they last. Might something to factor into your wash
Commenting for the planet. Also, if you need clothes for a specific event, check to see if you can borrow something. We all have that one Aunt obsessed with a holiday.
What happens to the plastic(?) that holds the Dropps pod together? Does it end up as micro-plastic in the water? Couldn't find any info on their website.
You don't separate your clothes when you wash them?? I separate my light weight clothes (t-shirts, underwear, etc.) from my heavy weight clothes (jeans and such). I find that my light weight clothes last longer because they're not being shredded by the heavy weight clothes in the wash. Also, do you guys have a dryer? Are you hang drying towels? Inquiring minds want to know.
You could get some mesh laundry bags. That's what I use to separate my different types of clothes. They are great for keeping underwear and masks separate/private if you share laundry facilities
I wish drops was in Canada! Also since I work in a hospital this year my clothes took a beatings from wearing my pants twice and in cold water to wearing them once in hot water (as that's what's recommended at the start to kill the virus) I have went through soooo many work clothes this year, at least 5 items
I would assume that it was biodegradable plant plastic that dissolves in water. Otherwise they can't be zero waste. I also sincerely doubt Levi and Leah would be willing to accept a sponsor who is flushing plastics into waterways
*hang drying your clothing also makes it possible to remove stains you didn't see before you put the item in, when you put it in the drier it cooks that stain in and makes it harder to remove.
Ha! If you were in Winnipeg, your Wardrobe would contain a blue jets jersey AND a white one ( like me... actually gifted to me) like what am I gonna do with 2 Jerseys?! But I feel like I cannot get rid of it at all!
So here's my question: is it better to use the "eco" cycle or the shortest cycle on my washing machine? I can't ever decide, cause the manual says that the eco cycle is the most efficient, but the short cycle is just so much shorter that I can't believe it is more wasteful! 🤯
The PnW has been so weird lately, super hot then cold. I’m on Whidbey. I feel like here, we get the best bang for our buck with the fleece and outerwear 😂
Guys, thank you for all your work! It's really impressing! But, look, your audience is not only from North America. I am from Russia for example and I do love your videos! Could you tell about products, that are worldwide? Thanks a lot!
My eco friendly fairly localy produced very functional laundry powder that commes in a cardboardbox (mde of recycled paper and easy to recycle again) is about 1/3 of the price of Dropps/p "doze". And since I live in a city with very soft water I only use 1/2 of a doze when I wash our clothes. All pods are so "dumb" in my opinion since they are messy if one only need half. It´s the same for dishwasher pods. I don´t own a dishwasher but at my moms we always breake the washing tablets in half. I wonder... underwear and socks, workout wear... stuff that can smell that is, do you wash them cold to? what about bed linnen, towels aso? I think Lea might benefit from telling all her friends and your family to give her eatables or take her out on fun experiences instead of giving her stuff... : ) Coz keeping stuff just because someone gave it to you isn´t always "fun" it could become "mental clutter" and nagg on ones mind.
I myself have a really small closet, so all the clothes will be used and anyway i have been wondering what i buy. i.e. clothes are bought only for need and all clothes must be such that they can be easily washed and repaired.
Also laundry help? My clothes get so stiff and starchy when I air dry them :( fabric softener is supposed to help, but drops are just the detergent, right? Anyone have any feedback? Google says to use the dryer
Dropps, really? I thought the Canadian TruEarth would be your preferred option. Ho hum. As far as talking about the clothing, was it to segue into the commercial? Anyway, minimalism, body loving, and intentionalism are still my reasons for subscribing, so I guess I shouldn’t fault you on how you make money. We can refill, or buy dropps or TruEarth at our refill store and I’ve chosen TruEarth to support a Canadian Corp. Now to get them doing right by the environment - well even then, I thought they were better than shipping water…I dunno, maybe a comparison video or ideas about how we can encourage a BC company to become even more environmentally friendly could be put on the list for future videos. Come on man, can ya help a gal out? 🤷♀️
Good video, but as for your sponsor... I don't like pods because I can't measure it according to how much or how dirty my cloth are to wash. With a big can it is still possible and better to measure it.
Like this comment if you want to see Leah in a dress for the next video...
... comment if you want to see Levi in a dress for the next video.
Both! 👀
levi in a dress…
Matching dresses 👗😆
Yes
🌚🌝
As soon as I saw Leah singing and dancing "body appreciation station" you got an immediate like! That was adorable and awesome!
You can't make this stuff up. 😂 One day we were just getting ready for the day and the next we have "the body appreciation station"...
For real! I need the album of positive vibes jingles I know Leah has in her head!!!
Being aware of purchasing mistakes instead of being paralysed by fear is such an important point!
“Camp counselor “ is the perfect description for her style 😂
When I said it she literally looked at me and went... "oh no, really?"
To Leah: You can actually wear scarfs tied around your waist just like you would with belts :DD it lets you use the scarf and enjoy the colors without really having to be a "scarf person"
I wear them on my head as a head band or tie them onto a bag
I saw someone braid a scarf like that into her hair and it looked so beautiful!
After I switched to only wearing the same grey and black t-shirt every day my life changed for the better!
Yeah I definitely found that I wear my grey shirts more than all the others. Slowly I'm making the switch!
Curious: why?
Yeah I like this! That canadian "spring" is something else eh? We're really lucky here in victoria so I can't complain!
Same problem with the 'not worn in a year' clothes...
I renamed my mirror The Body Appreciation Station, it's genius, thank you Leah💕
It's a cheap and helpful upgrade for sure!
Working from home really reduce my need to go clothes shopping.
Hahaha that's so true... I get dressed up to go to the grocery store now just for the excuse.
You came in clutch with the Dropps discount code because I was literally about to reorder my other zero waste laundry detergent, but now I get to try Dropps for cheaper. 👍
Hope you like it! They're honestly great. 👍🏻
What other zero waste detergent do you use?
So nice to hear you recognize that not everyone has access to zero waste grocery stores! 😊😊😊
I don’t have one and it’s beyond frustrating! But I do have a co-Op and we try to shop there when we can (supporting local farmers) and we buy from bulk bins at the grocery store but they won’t let you use anything but their stupid plastic bags 🙄
Overalls and shortalls are the way to go, got mine and never looked back. Comfy and versatile.
Hello Levi,
I just want to tell you that your channel is just fantastic.
Wow thanks for this! It's great to hear that it resonates with you!
Great video, Levi! It’s always nice to see you guys together!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I don’t have a minimalist wardrobe *yet* as I’m a believer in “using up what you already have first”. But I haven’t bought any new clothes in a very long time lol
Absolutely! Don't rush it! These things will come as you develop and change over time!
I’m going to start wearing dresses more, Cotton and linen preferred. I’m currently wearing a thrifted dress that I would honestly wear throughout the week.
I really like my cotton dresses I got from Pact last year. I wear them both all the time.
Leah I feel the same way with gifts! I've found that I have kept things and then when I bring it up to the person they go, "oh I forgot I got you that!" The silky scarf Lea had would be so cute as a headband or styled as a spring top.
Another great video, always great when you and Leah are bantering off each other
Glad you enjoyed it, it's always great to have someone to banter with. 🥺
OMG! Camp Counsellor Leah!!! You found the words!
That is totally her style!
Also, Drops are unavailable to the country you currently live in?
Yeah it's a sad reality. Most of my audience is in the US so I get a lot of US sponsorships. 😭
@@LeahandLevi I suppose that makes sense. I trust you genuinely promote products you believe in and think some of your audience can benefit from
YAY it's the laundry advice I asked for!!! Could you link to your drying rack? I've never seen one like it!
It's the classic one from ikea! I'm sure it has a weird name like kosselgordenshlog or something
@@LeahandLevi haha thanks!

The pinkish purple shawl long jacket thing from the regretted purchases video actually looks so pretty on Leah. Stylish teacher vibes for sure haha

On Queer Eye one of the tips was to put your jeans in the freezer to get rid of a smell, but to prevent washing.
I always used my old, chunky, 2014/2015 scarves as nicer-looking blankets during zooms!! maybe that was the thought :)

the reindeer shirt will be great for when your kids go to dress up parties in their teens hahaha

So much buyer's remorse! I end up returning a lot of items.

That Everlane shirt looks sooo good on you. Way better than the other one you bought afterwards. I doubt this helps, but just had to mention it 😅
Yeah the everlane fit works really well for my body type which is why I'm happy to keep it... wish their standards were better tho. 😭
Teying to get out the things I don't need and love, while buying things rhat don't come in plastic. It is rough. But feeling better everyday!
I’ll have to look at Dropps. I had been considering Tru Earth laundry sheets.
Yeah the truearth is more expensive but I like the form factor!
BIG Tru Earth fan! It's Canadian Made so to me its worth the price. Also I don't find it very expensive personally!
Do you know if Dropps delivers to Canada?
Leah with that scarf had me laughing so much 😂
I wish drops was in Canada! Also since I work in a hospital this year my clothes took a beatings from wearing my pants twice and in cold water to wearing them once in hot water (as that's what's recommended at the start to kill the virus) I have went through soooo many work clothes this year, at least 5 items
But every dropp is in a plastic packaging. Doesnt it break down into microplastic in the water?
I would assume that it was biodegradable plant plastic that dissolves in water. Otherwise they can't be zero waste. I also sincerely doubt Levi and Leah would be willing to accept a sponsor who is flushing plastics into waterways
Levi, you looked so good in the reindeer shirt! You should use it more often.
Omg Winnipeg Jets yesssss!!!!!!!!!!
OK, but now I REALLY want to know about that snake(?) purse you made all those close-ups from 😁
Was it a gift, too?
Is Leah keeping it?
My wife is exactly the same with dresses, has a bunch, wears them like once a month tops
I'm just going to make a point to compliment her a absurd amount anytime she wears a dress now lol
*hang drying your clothing also makes it possible to remove stains you didn't see before you put the item in, when you put it in the drier it cooks that stain in and makes it harder to remove.
Omg I’ve finally found the description of my own “style.” Camp counselor is a little too accurate
It's okay, Leah. Let the gifts go! :)
I use drops dishwasher pods already. They're great and affordable
Amazing! This is great to hear!
Ha! If you were in Winnipeg, your Wardrobe would contain a blue jets jersey AND a white one ( like me... actually gifted to me) like what am I gonna do with 2 Jerseys?! But I feel like I cannot get rid of it at all!
I would love to try Dropps but they dont ship to Sweden I think :( Aaaaaannd I wear soooo many dresses in summer. It is just so airy!
I use Smol in the UK... they ship to UK, Netherlands and Germany- hopefully they'll start shipping to Sweden soon!
Leah does dress like a camp counselor 😂😂 in a good way lol
The silky scarf might be useful to sleep in. Silk is a lot better for your hair. So less damage.
I myself have a really small closet, so all the clothes will be used
and anyway i have been wondering what i buy. i.e. clothes are bought only for need and all clothes must be such that they can be easily washed and repaired.
Can you make a video showing and explaining why you got the tattoos that you have
Also laundry help? My clothes get so stiff and starchy when I air dry them :( fabric softener is supposed to help, but drops are just the detergent, right? Anyone have any feedback? Google says to use the dryer
I definitely regift gifts to friends I think will appreciate them more but I do often wait a bit after getting them to do so...
lol 1 minute in the video "you have stuff (booger) in your nose"
Yes!!! Winnipeg Jets! Are you homegrown in Manitoba Levi? (I didn’t want to assume based on the Mennonite last name). :)
My dad and his whole side of the family came from Mennonite settlers yeah! I never lived there though
Where did you find that drying rack??? 👀
It’s from ikea!
