Thanks for all the love team! Leah and I have a big video coming next week that will also have details on how we donated our clothes! Ring the notification bell to stay up to date for that!
Cool. I was wondering what you will do with your castaway items. Charity shops can sell on somethings but things needing repair or are broken can take a bit more work to dispose of in a responsible way. In Scandanavian countries there is a growing network of outlets that will repair items for resale especially old tech. Avoiding creating waste and making carefully considered purchases is important. As for buying Levi's wasn't that an obvious one for you Levi.
Leah, "trying", yes and as the saying goes, "with a little bit of effort you could become impossible" : )))))) Nice progress on the channel, keep up the good work.
@1400deadwood I know this will sound crazy and never heard of, but.... One can actually attend weddings and other formal occasions not wearing heels. 😮 :-O I know, I know, it is a tough issue, but it really is possible. ;)
I love how active Leah is now in these videos. It's so much fun seeing both of your perspectives on these topics. This also reminds that I gotta go through my stuff again. Great video!
female targeted clothing is so much more than males, and therefore I find it harder to get a minimalist wardrobe. When I used to be a guy I always wore black and only wearing 3 colors like levi is is pretty easy but now I have all these new clothing options to present in. Makes it very hard for me.
Yes this is a great point! Fashion standards are much tougher for women. Leah is doing a really good job imo because of this! Thanks for bringing it up!
This is really confusing to tackle the idea of a minimalist wardrobe being agender because there is the fun of hyper feminine outfits, hyper masculine outfits, gender fuck outfits, androgynous outfits, the I just want to be invisible today outfits, outfits for art... Then it's like WTF does masculine and feminine even really mean and cool giving up on any ideas of anything. Just real quick my 33 year old husband wears tank tops with unicorns lifting weights, pink shorts, highlighter yellow shoes, not all together. Wearing fun clothing isn't about your age its about if you want to. Everyone always loves the idea of the 60 year old in bright colors and eccentric outfits, they didn't get to that point by stopping when they were 27. My husband is also queer AF so maybe it's easier for him to feel comfortable breaking those arbitrary social expectations.
@@findingagain Lol I wear all black with some navy pieces at times and yeah my nickname is literally Depression xD But I guess it's caused by my dark humor not just my clothes
Love you guys both!!! Could you guys make a video about how to responsibly get rid of these items that aren't in a condition that's easily donate-able? I've got items that I've been wanting to declutter, but I've been holding onto them because I can't figure out how best to! Thanks!!
Some things I have learned throughout the past year about moving to a minimalist lifestyle. I initially found out about minimalism last summer and when I went back to school I thought buying a bunch of grey t shirts and black jeans was the route to go. However, after a few weeks, I quickly grew to learn I absolutely hated it as I just enjoyed the process of dressing nice with colour. After spending all that money, I got rid of a few things, but kept all the grey shirts for work shirts and it's definitely a good re-purposing. I quickly found I like dressing more smart casual and went on that journey. What I suggest for others is to start out slow, everyone has different aesthetics they enjoy. However, a few big tips I suggest to everyone that wants to own less and save money: 1) Buy higher quality rather than quantity. The best goal I can give you. Not only do nicer garments fit better, but they are usually made of higher quality fibres, and some being natural, which keep you cooler/warmer, last longer, and I believe natural fibres can bio-degrade if I am not mistaken. Also, dress shoes that may be Goodyear welted are usually more comfier, but can be re-soled a few times rather than chucking a pair of shoes every time. Everything has a purpose, though, keep that in mind. 2) Buy neutral, earth tone colours. Keep in mind, neutral isn't necessarily monochrome. Easily something that saves you. I can pick out any one of my tops, pants, shoes, etc. and pair them together 99% of the time. Start off with this and then branch out to colours if that's what you're into. 3) Function over fashion. Living on the east coast of Canada, a parka is essential in the winter. However, wearing a heavyweight parka in the middle of Texas may not be the best choice as usually it is pretty warm most of the time. Fast fashion always changes, classic styles are usually always going to go well throughout the years. There are easily things I wish I never did, but as you go day by day, you learn more about what works for you and no one can determine that except for yourself. However, overall, wear what makes you feel good and happy at the end of the day.
Well, thanks 4 all the pieces of advise Logan, believe it or not I feel identified with everything U said. Personally I love the minimalist aesthetic showed on social media but I'm someone eccentric (even since when I was a child LOL) and I had plenty of questions of what would it be like wearing only neutral black or gray colors all the time. You answered those questions in one single comment, so, thanks for sharing ur point of view. Keep it up!
I never realized how much I loved that tiger shirt until Levi tossed it aside. Then I realized just how sentimental clothes are to me since I was sad about someone else giving away a shirt. Man, being ruthless with clothes is hard but I'll try my best...good on you two!
No wonder kids from the 80s and 90s are turning to minimalism. Can you remember how much crap we had in our homes as kids? (Watch E.T. if you need a reminder). Sensory overload from eternally messy homes. Also, might I add how adorably hilarious you both are together. I love seeing Leah more recently, she's awesome!
I wouldn't call my wardrobe to be minimalistic but I think I am on that path. I have found type of pants, dresses, tops that looks good on me and honestly if I even try something else, it doesn't look as good. My clothes are not all primary colors, I love prints and colors but it all matches and I feel so good in them!
Suggestion for a social experiment: Leah mentioned no one noticed that Levi wore (essentially) the same grey shirt for 3 months. Leah should try the same experiment with a white or black shirt and see if anyone notices she is wearing the same color shirt. I’m curious and have a hypothesis that they would, since women are more observant than men and women are held to a different standard of appearance. But an experiment would be needed and this would be a great platform for it!
Great video! I have about 10 days of laundry to have enough to make it two weeks in a pinch and in my current situation having less definitely helps. Plus 100% quality over quantity, some of the shirts I have have been a little bit more expensive but have been with me for almost a decade now.
I think its important to separate if you like the minimalistic lifestyle or aesthetic. A lot of people like both, but some people (like me) only like one of them. Thus, when I tried to adopt the minimalistic aesthetic, I ended up consuming more because I was trying to totally redesign my closet, which is not the answer. I am now happy in my bright purple room with colorful clothes and too many shoes (I love shoes so that's my exception category) which is my perfect minimalistic lifestyle
This video is so satisfying to watch. I especially liked the part when you said 'These clothes represent a former version of ourselves and we are building a new version of ourselves.' Approved!!
I live in Levi’s. Most of them I bought before I became more mindful of the brands I shop from, but with how durable they are, I don’t feel bad about the purchases. I can easily wear them for another decade. I’ll probably keep buying them secondhand after that.
Apart from 1 pair jeans & 1 pair of dungarees, all of my denim is G-Star. They last quite long and as I grew up cycling a lot, they are great for cyclists thighs (as it’s a Dutch brand) because they’re roomy in that area.
From one cradle robber to another, you rock Leah! I like your more active participation in the videos and feel like the result are even better that when it's just Levi
This was just the motivation I needed to purge my wardrobe!! Ive been wanting to graduate my wardrobe the same way, which is why I have rewatched your videos on clothing brands a billion times!! PS Leah should wear her hair curly/wavy like at 11:45 more often!! It totally matches her personality and looks super cute too
Freedom in a t-shirt!!! Seriously, a small collection of solid, quality tees and pants and great shoes takes you a long way. I've done the same with my suits for work over the years. Two suits, navy and gray. Two shoes, brown and black. White shirts. Only the ties do I get creative on and everyone thinks I have a massive suit collection.

Ok, the Levi's thing is not terrible because they hold up for literal years! Any other pants I've ever bought wear out within a year, my Levi's have lasted 3+ years! " I don't look like a minimalist and that's okay, because I only buy things that last, and I own a about the same amount of clothing you guys do. looking at my kitchen its definitely not minimalist because I loooove food and I am trying to live low waste.
Don't go all black-grey-tan! Wear colors, it's fun! Love the unicorn T! And minimalism is supossed to be a tool, not a cult. Some clutter, decor stuff etc. make a home. And you want to have choices, so you need a collection to choose from.

When it comes to pants, Levi's might not be sustainable but you could get over 10 years out of a single pair and they can be recycled after use. I have a pair of cheap pants i bought on a schooltrip about 8 years ago that are still useable.
Am in the same boat as you. I have only one pair of jeans. One I found that worked for me a while back. At first it bothered me but I realized I love wearing other more comfortable softer pants like soft chinos. Plus being a girl I could wear dresses.
i'm late here but - i work out every day and i'm fascinated by how few workout items y'all had. do you guys just...rewear between workouts?! i feel like the wear and tear would destroy them!
when i was watching this i thought "they only have 4 pair of jeans???! how do they live like that" but then i remembered i too have only 4 pairs of jeans, 2 jean shorts and 1 overall lmao

are there any brands that use old clothes to make new clothes? surely there must be a way to like re-use the thread/fabric/material
Yes, Patagonia has a company called wornwear that's basically made out of their old cloths...
Also a company called Marine Layers reuses old t-shirts ppl turn in
If you like high fashion Vetements and Kapital has collections using old clothes.
Some small businesses do that
