I can’t thank you enough for making this video. I was sure I broke my vacuum when I took it apart. Turns out I just didn’t put it back together right!

Excellent! Fixed my non-spinning powerhead. End opposite the belt was completely clogged w/ hairs, fibers, etc. Never knew I should be taking that apart sometimes to clean it..d'oh! Of course I did cut out hair off the brush but never removed the cover etc. Thank you!!

Question please: Is it okay to add a very small dab of grease (say, petroleum jelly or silicone grease) into the bearing? It looks like steel on brass, and I was thinking that using a toothpick to add just a tiny amount inside the brass "O" might help promote the longevity of the bearing. I understand that adding too much would not be good as the excess would be a dirt magnet.

You probably want to stay away from putting any type of grease in there, it does get dirty quickly because of the dust and its a pain to clean the dirty grease off of it. as long as you take the bearings off and clean them, those bearings would last really long time without the need of any grease or lubricant.

That's how I cleaned mine out regularly (because it's a cat and dog model and I have dogs) and the fucker power head stopped working after one year. Can't figure out what is wrong with it despite everything looking intact inside. Between that and the tiny and expensive ($5 a pop) vacuum bags I will not buy another Miele.

Very good video the only thing that you need to make better is when you’re talking about the notches. You have no picture with the first belt notch you talk about it but you don’t show where it slides in. The other side you should wear it so I did but you don’t really show the little up and down cats in the plastic so that would be the only time I would say get that camera in there to really show what it is. And you go back-and-forth with the camera you have and saw a person have to keep adjusting where you are and where your hands are. Otherwise it’s really good I gave you a good one

Mine is all cleaned up, but the red fault light continues to come on after a short use. Can the motor be serviced or replaced?

No we wont delete your comment. Mind you, we would have suggested to go with a Mile bagless model because of the pet hair so you dong have keep buying bags, and also considering getting a SEB228 powerhead instead of the 217.
