See heres my thing. Chaser's War on Everything.. it means EVERYTHING! I wouldn't expect them to have a very good measure of what offends people since they never seem to be offended themselves, so why didn't someone stop this from airing.
The sketch was fantastic. It was a lot less "painful" than say, a kid dying from cancer. There's crew out there that seem to put horror and taking the piss out of horror on the same level of unacceptability. That's painful.
The problem isn't "a single manager who made a bad decision". It's a hypocritical public obsessed with scandal and political correctness that's to blame.
It is part of the Australian psyche to take the piss out of the PM. Regardless of how good of a job he is doing. Actually we take the piss out of anyone that is the public spotlight. Just our way of keeping, even those in power, in check with reality, and that they are no better than any of us. We like to think of ourselves as being a classless society (not really true), so we do our best to keep us all as equals.
The parents of terminally ill children have a right to be angry, i wont deny them that but whats disgusting to me are those douchebag shock jocks who look at this and make their snide, self righteous comments. Also ACA having another chance to sledge the Chasers in order to get high ratings that week, to get them back for being mocked constantly. The real question is as Jonathan Holmes said is review the guidelines for acceptable satire make things better or leave us with sanitized comedy?
What the chaser should have done; at the end of the skit, add a "please donate to the cause, in reality they do a good job" etc. that would have probably stopped most of the 'scandal'
They weren't making fun of kids who were suffering from leukaemia, they were satirically showing how little the Make A Wish Foundation could actually put towards giving these kids their dream. It was obviously going to be offensive in some way, I don't think I've seen a Chaser skit that wasn't.
I love the Chaser and Mediawatch and personally i didn't think the sketch was offensive, but i understand why people thought it stepped over the lines of decency, and i'm sorry if you feel that way. I do not feel it was meant to deliberately offensive but it came across that way, so like that KFC ad it had to be condemned, i don't blame the chasers this is there job, Amanda Duthie should of had more foresight in this manner but i wont rake her over the coals for it.
There goes all the fun in comedy just like love thy neighbour. The only people that got offended is the woke and SJW but this is the cancel culture era and Kingswood country would never survive now a days
very true i think it was mainly the comment why bother if they're gonna die anyways that sent it over the top. i find it a sensitive topic but everyone has to remember the chaser are comedians they don't do this for serious bullying it's all in fun.
The joke wasn’t about terminally ill kids.......it’s about the self indulgent sense of morality within the audience and their ability to convince themselves and charities that they are being a good person by donating money .
It wasnt targetting or making fun of the kids....it was highlighting the stupudity and abuse those foundations do for money and tv. Ffs. Satire is lost on people
Oh, get over it. Comedy has no limits as far as I’m concerned. Y’all cancelled Jimmy Carr over his Netflix special, and way before that, basically cancelled The Chaser before cancel culture was a thing over a dark joke with amazing delivery. All you demented people getting offended over this are BEYOND HELP and you need to be put down like dogs because if we keep doing this sick society s**t, society won’t last another 5 years. What do I know, though?
What's wrong with Australia! I bet most people actually laughed, but they don't make a serious case of it. Stupid serious people. Also, since I'm not Australian, why do The Chasers War on everything keep mocking the primeinister? ?? Is he doing bad?
@amative63 - When you say: classless society (Not Really True) - what do you mean by ' not really true' ? I mean, I think that your society is pretty much equal. Where and why do you see it otherwise? Thanks.
Mainly is the fact that they showed kids, if the chaser or anyone else went to africa and film starving kids while they make a joke like by delibrately wasting food, it will cause more outrage then what this caused.
Okay I admit that skit was a little bit inappropriate, but some of the stuff the oppersition was saying was crude as well, like the guy who asked for the chasers address etc! AND THE FUCK IS THE WOMON AT 0:19 EVEN WATCHING THE BLOODY THING ANYWAYS! Why do people watch the chasers if they obviously don't like it, jeez go watch the freaking x factor
@thirteendays13 very true. in saying that when parents offended speak out who've actually had kids affected by terminal illness its hard to argue with them
there are always those jokes that arent funny and those that are, getting offended by the jokes that you dont find humorous is just stupid, instead people should just move on to the the next joke.
I enjoyed the skit. It was funny, I laughed, and I'm not ashamed. Separate a joke from reality.
See heres my thing. Chaser's War on Everything.. it means EVERYTHING! I wouldn't expect them to have a very good measure of what offends people since they never seem to be offended themselves, so why didn't someone stop this from airing.
I thought someone said something that offended me one time, but then i realised i was just being self conscious.
The sketch was fantastic. It was a lot less "painful" than say, a kid dying from cancer. There's crew out there that seem to put horror and taking the piss out of horror on the same level of unacceptability. That's painful.
Um I think my kid dying of cancer would override a TV show - why would I distract myself with getting bugged by a TV show?
The problem isn't "a single manager who made a bad decision". It's a hypocritical public obsessed with scandal and political correctness that's to blame.
That home address stuff by the radio guy was the most appalling thing ... far worse than what the Chaser did.
It was funny as shit tho

MAD Tv did this exact sketch several years before, the 9 network has aired it many times over, actually saw it a few weeks ago

Why do I feel like Kevin Rudd was struggling not to laugh at the thought of the video?

Get over it.. i found it very funny.
really like the way mediawatch breaks down the facts...

The make a wish foundation is donated tens of millions of dollars a year. The Big question is what it is being used for.
very true i think it was mainly the comment why bother if they're gonna die anyways that sent it over the top. i find it a sensitive topic but everyone has to remember the chaser are comedians they don't do this for serious bullying it's all in fun.
Bahaha! I didn't hear about that skit, it's pretty funny. The ill kids probably laughed at it to.

not much apparently, this video is from 13 years before you made that comment, before your stupid culture war bs.

It's not making fun of the kids, it's making fun of the organisation. Jesus.

For those who did not agree with this freedom of speech, I g
guys, do u think more people support chaser or the people who have problem with it?
Good thinking.
Haven't You Guys Heard Of Black/Dark Comedy ?????.... Jesus Fucking Christ..... It's Supposed To Be Somehow Offensive And Cruel ....
they stuffed up there, wow, thats the problem when you think the kids are just actors and it's fake well, that one was real... yikes chaser
Ur videos are some of the best videos I’ve seen on UA-cam
@thirteendays13 you are spot on

exactly!
I agree.
the kids are actors, get over yourself.
its funny
awks...
i thought it was funny :|
:D
i thought it was funny
yeah, most of the things that the chaser does are funny and are not overstepping the line. This is too far though.
this person is just trying to limit the damage done to his disgraced network as seen in his closing statement.
