Yes, a lot of people will try to avoid a center knurl for cleans, but interestingly enough, in weightlifting competitions, the men’s bar is required to have a center knurl. Adherence to this rule tends to be hit or miss at local meets, but at any national or international meet, you will always see a center knurl on the men’s bar. It still helps provide some friction when catching a heavy clean (although it’s not as useful as it is for a low bar squat).
Great review, I haven’t seen one for this bar yet. Just the video by Starting Strength introducing/pitching it. I’m a big fan of Texas Power Bars. I have their Power Bar and my gym has several of their All American Bars. Have you ever used the Texas Bodybuilding Bar? Never seen a review on that one.
Thanks for the kind words. I've used the TPB Power Bar, and it's great, but I haven't ever used their Bodybuilding Bar nor - as you mentioned - have I seen a review for that one.
Another thing I forgot to mention/ask. The SS bar seems very similar to the All American Bar. Dual knurling marks, less aggressive knurling than the power bar. The SS bar is a bit more expensive so there must be some differences.
@tadleyironwood7595 sleeves will absolutely be the same. Supposedly the knurl on ss bar is proprietary to mark rippitoe. I've got tx power bar 29...thinking about ss power bar.
Did u ever get the ss bar? I got the aa because it had the option for chrome sleeves. They are ribbed and make a terrible noise putting rogue dd plates on .are the sleeves ribbed on the ss. I got 2 ohio pb bars with ribbed sleeves which do not make such a loud screeching sound..@P3ak930
Its amazing how few bars come with center knurls. I get everyone is scared of getting cut up with high reps but its nice to have for low squats

Bought both the b&r 2.0 and SS bar and I prefer the B&R bar for squats and the SS bar for everything else
Both great bars :-) My wife and I have two B&R 2.0 bars at home (got them before the SS bar came out).
Just ordered the Eleiko XF 15kg- bar for life!
I don't have any experience with that particular Eleiko bar, but it's usually tough to go wrong with an Eleiko bar :-)
Nice video! Subbed👊
Thank you!

Yeah does anyone know any diff in the knurling between the AA & SS? Also if the sleeves are the same.

It would be alot better to be stainless steel shaft and sleeves instead because if it is bare steel like it is, it oxidizes like a bitch !!!!
