Considering that I have done this for 39 years, I can tell you from experience that the 'carnivore diet" is sustainable long term. I never understood the appeal of processed foods. The only times I eat fruit is when my own trees produce it. Everyone I know has been somewhat baffled by my strange way of eating but now more and more of them are interested and asking me for advice.

I found out about carnivore last summer. I watched a bunch of different videos and became comfortable with it and then just jumped into it. I continue to watch videos and read books and learn and get support.
For me, the carb addiction was the worst! I was determined to do this to try and heal my gut, including daily heartburn and more and more occasions of acid reflux… along with what I learned was poor metabolic health and aches and pains and a bad knee and lots of issues with being over 60 and eating poorly. I ate what I thought was healthier than a SAD diet… lots of salads and veggies and nuts and seeds and lean meat… mostly chicken. Green smoothies really messed me up, I discovered. Also whole oats and buckwheat with lots of fruit… and, homemade organic bread and other goodies. 2020 got me eating more and more goodies…and my diet was spiraling in more and more carbs and sweets.
In the beginning, I had to make sure I ate plenty of fat (butter and bacon and bacon grease and hwc) to keep me from eating carbs. I had to leave the room when my hubby ate snacks and goodies. The key is to eat enough meat and fat to stay satiated and hold back the cravings. I started having a steak or hamburger every single day. I also had eggs and bacon every day. I had to think of food in a completely different way. Not as a reward to mindless activity… but as fuel to nourish my body. I had to think of grains and fruit and nuts and even fruit as anti-nutrients and most as non-foods and poisons.
I have lost weight, visceral fat, which was my main goal of fat loss. I do not get heartburn or acid reflux. My bum knee is no longer hurting me… I feel so much better by not eating those foods! I also gave up or quit drinking alcohol since July. I don’t even miss it.
I can now be around all kinds of goodies and snacks and sweets and not feel tempted at all. I actually feel sorry for the people who are eating them. I know of no other person in my life who eats this way, or who even thinks it’s healthy! They question my health and blood work while they are chowing down on sweets and drinking alcoholic beverages…. everything is backwards in this world… and we have been lied to and led in the wrong direction… and still are.
I hope I can stay the course… even when everyone around me is eating poorly and believing that I am the crazy one… while I have my daily steak, which tastes delicious every single day!
Thank you for your channels and all you do to help those of us who want to be healthy!! 🥩🍳👍🏼

Well done. I'm in my 5th week of a 6 week transition to carnivore from paleo (and, regrettably, vegan many years before that). For the last 30 years I've eaten differently to all those around me who disagreed with my diet choices. I've never cared, however, what others think and I've found that if I am happy in my choice of diet (regardless of whether or not it's been a good or bad choice) people don't care or at least don't hassle me. If they ask why I'm eating a particular way and I just happily say that I'm trying to eat what humans have evolved to eat because I figure that's what's best for our bodies and that I'm happy and healthy doing so they don't hassle me. I just changed my thinking from assuming that that we are evolved to eat a plant based diet to a meat based diet but I've never wavered on the principle of trying to eat our ancestral diet. When I started this journey on vegan I didn't even have an internet connection to do any review of the studies/literature and was relying on a few books. Thank goodness that we can now consume a huge amount of information to make our decisions.
Anyway, hang in there. What other people think is not as important as your health. Even if no one in your life eats the same way as you do there are still many across the world who agree with your carnivore choice. My health is more important to me than worrying about what others think. If someone offers me chocolate cake I say something like "That looks delicious but no thanks". I don't hassle others about their diet and am respectful of their choice to eat whatever they want and I guess that makes them more likely to treat me the same way. Being confident and happy and saying my diet works for me but I don't care what others eat means people might ask some questions out of curiosity but very rarely would anyone actually hassle me about my diet and, if they do, I just answer their points with a smile and they quickly stop because they can see that I don't get upset if they criticise me and don't mind what they say and it takes the wind out of their sails but It's only happened a couple of times in 30 years. I love a good debate so would be very happy if someone wanted to really get into a debate with me but no one has ever done so. Enjoy your carnivore. It tastes great and is healthy.

@@AnneFS Thank you for the encouragement! I always seems to be the odd one out because I am always searching and exploring new ideas. Having so much information at pir fingertips is amazing and it makes me wonder why people don’t do more research, instead of just consuming entertainment. Oddly enough, it’s the family and friends in the medical field who debate me the most. If I say I stopped eating carbs and sugar because I don’t want to develop diabetes like my mom and sister, they tell me that sugar doesn’t cause diabetes… so I don’t need to worry about eating sugar. Strange, huh? I saw how they fed my diabetic mother in rehab… so many carbs!! I guess they figured they would just up her insulin … along with all the other drugs they kept pushing on her.
I am trying to get my husband on board. At least to get him to stop eating all the snacks and goodies and beer all the time. He doesn’t have any serious medical conditions and is still fit at 66…. sadly, he won’t change until something serious develops, and then he will look to medical procedures to fix him. It’s his whole family’s mentality. Most are in the medical field and don’t believe in food being the cause or cute of anything…. except evil salt and too stay away from fatty meat. Canola oil is healthy in their thinking. It’s very sad to see what they have been taught in the medical field…it’s why I stay far, far away asap.

Most key metabolic changes happened in the first year of keto with fasting, and the first three months of strict carnivore. I'm quite clear that when waver from carnivore, I still keep carbs below 40-50gr/day, but I use crunchy foods and the very occasional slice of sourdough bread as psychological comfort for loneliness. Previously I ate carbs , especially at night, for comfort. Now it's salad or nuts at the end of the evening meal.

Which are no more than a few ridiculous claims of "ohh what about the traditional maasai" blah blah blah
      What about them?
The research on the traditional Maasai found signs of extensive atherosclerosis "similar to that of old US men" and they have a life expectancy of about 40-45 years old, so to have signs of extensive atherosclerosis even at that age, with the abundance of physical activity etc, is a testament to how poor their diets are and yet these fake carnivore "gurus" use it as their only reasoning to champion and mislead people into extreme all beef fad diets etc.

To bring them down, exercising every day may not be enough. Stress is what causes high cholesterol, so to reduce LDL/VLDL the stressors must be reduced. Finding your stressors may take some investigation. Some common stressors are: malnutrition (lack of or excess nutrients), toxicity (trans fats, smoking, alcohol, drugs, heavy metals, pesticides, mold, etc.), lack of sleep, obesity, disease/disorders (such as high blood pressure), lack of exercise or too much exercise, anxiety, negative thinking, and abuse.
Frying foods in fats/oils on high heat creates trans fats. I would recommend you ask your doctor to order tests for all nutrients that were not tested for in your blood work. Some nutrient tests that are commonly not performed: vitamin D, B12, B6, folate (B9), ferritin, vitamin C, vitamin K or PT, vitamin E, vitamin A. Now three months full carnivore (coming from two years keto), feeling great, adding muscle and strength quickly, which is nice! Still weaning myself off of coffee (OK, maybe that means I'm not FULL carnivore). Down to about three ounces a day. Maybe five days to go ... just running my Starbucks account to zero! Sleep has improved immensely, which is another great aspect. I actually can recognize when I'm tired, go to bed and fall asleep without lying for hours tossing and turning. I generally sleep very well and wake up naturally with no alarm at about the time I want.

What needs to be done is a re-evaluation of what nutrients we really need daily when on a zero carb diet carnivore diet. With all those multivitamins, they say we need a certain percentage of vitamins and minerals. And if just eating meat, people like vegans, think we need supplements with carnivore like vitamin C! So tired of people, like doctors, telling me you need supplements. I tell them people have been doing carnivore for decades and have great bloodwork, no health issues, have healed in many areas, and not taking supplements. The nutrient requirements they have now are for people on very poor western diets who eat loads of plants and carbs. Plants have those toxins and prevent us from absorbing nutrients. And carbs cause us to need more nutrients. But carnivore we don’t need such a high number of daily nutrients since we absorb all the nutrients in meat like beef and eggs!

It's helped many lose weight that were stalled. Men lose weight much easier than women, because men don't have the hormones that women do. My gosh, Kelly Hogan looks younger every day eating 80/20 high fat. Nothing is good for everyone, but higher fat for some of us is a life saver. I find I'm not as snacky. My vitamin A is at 68% which means good but not yet reaching "ideal." My Copper is 14.5 - "normal" is 11-28 so I can still use more copper. My B9 is 69% and not yet reaching ideal. My B12 is a problem at 61% so needs a boost. With all of my results, yes, I could use liver a couple of times per week to help all of these boost up a bit. (Side note, my Vitamin C shows in the ideal range at 79%). JUST REMEMBER, if you supplement B12 you need B9 with it to protect against brain damage. If you have a B9 (folate) deficiency, don't go doing B12 without B9!

Hay and grain prices are at record highs which basically means that it is a lot more expensive to raise the meat. and the price per pound that you get it at the auction is about the same as it was in the 1990s but the expenses are triple.
I used to run anywhere from 15 to 30 cows all the time. now I just keep two because that's enough to keep my family supplied in beef.
I just looked at the auction prices for June 28th 2023. The lowest price was $0.76 a pound on the hoof. The top steer brought $2 a pound. The most common price of the day was $1.29 a pound. Now remember we have to keep this animal for 2 years right now we're paying a little over $200 a ton for hay and grain is about $22 for a 50 lb bag.

Excellent content! I'm so glad you two discussed butter, I didn't buy eating a stick of butter not to mention how expensive that would be.

For me, butter seems an unnecessary increase in cholesterol without nutritional benefit. Doesn't make sense.

I eat fatty meat. If I eat a leaner piece of meat, I cook fat trimming to supplement it. Butter munching is just so wrong, imo, besides I have found I am lactose intolerant.

In Holland they want to encourage farmers to close down. But did you know that 90 % of the meat is exported? We could do with less farms, less animals and give the animals more space, and grass feed them instead of soy feed them.

So glad you are having this conversation. I have almost been put off carnivore with all the complexities and nuances. I am very low carb ketovore. Almost none. Heading to carnivore. And I was considering today not trying to heal with carnivore now it has started to seem so complicated. Thank you to you both. I feel better only a few mins in 💚

It is nice for many middle and low income people to feel they don’t have to spend their paycheck on high end meat When I was raising my kids basically alone and battling Candida and leaky gut it was hard to spend money on organic greens and fancy blenders and cashews etc…The Carnivore diet is so amazing and affordable for average people it really is a Godsend in 2 days I had more energy and day by day I am feeling so much better Thank you both for all your great videos💕

I’ve felt for a long time that the RDAs are highly suspect. A good example is vitamin C. Someone on a carnivore diet is ingesting a far lower amount of oxidizing agents than someone eating plants, grains, seed oils, etc. If you follow logical thought it would make sense that you need less vitamin c because you’re body has a far lighter toxic load.
