Thank you. Very helpful. Maybe on future 98 inch comparisons you can spend 30 seconds showing the cable management of the TVs and how the TVs show on the wall when viewing the mounted TV from the side?

One thing you failed to mention is how long each TV will last before any processing failures. My experience has been that Sony TVs and DVD players last MUCH longer than many other brands. I bought a Hisense TV not long ago and it only lasted 2 years. My current Sony is going on 3 years and has had zero problems. Something to think about in addition to price points.

65” Seems like a great TV size for most rooms. I just don’t understand why people would want to spend so much money on what has to be a pain in the ass to install in your home. Then you have to deal with removing it at some point in the future when you want to upgrade. If you can afford these tv’s you can probably afford to upgrade every 4 or 5 years.

Very good review. But like many of these reviews of the TCL 754, they don't mention the very strong glare and Reflections coming off the screen of the TCL 754. The off angle viewing of the TCL is very poor. If you sit to the right or the left you lose brightness contrast and the picture looks washed out. Tcl's video processing is mediocre at best. If all you're going to do is watch 4K material the TCL will be fine. However if you're going to be watching cable,,SDR, streaming and other signals that need video processing upscaling you will be disappointed. It's unfortunate that these reviews do not include a comparison of the two TVs ability to upscale lower-resolution video signals.

Just wait for this $10,000 Sony to go down in price to $8,000 during Black Friday or even next year around March or April when Sony closes out this model. Note: The cheap 98" TVs I've seen don't look very good when watching regular TV content and sports. I'd probably have to completely rearrange my living room setup to use a TV that big, the mount I have now wouldn't do the weight or vesa spacing. We also have 24" inch on center wall studs. I have the original mini led TCL here and a Z9K. I still like my TCL in my bedroom now, the Sony is in the living room.
Of course the Sony is way better but the TCL was like 3 times cheaper and about 90 percent as good as the Sony.
You pays yer money and takes yer chances but considering how similar they look I'd buy the TCL. The Z9K is on a whole other level picture and price wise so you either want the benefits it offers and can afford it or you get a TCL, save a bunch of money, and be happy.

You can also freeze the video at other parts, and then the TCL has the clearer image. Seems to me that this is due to the videos not being 100% frame to frame.

These anecdotes are of rather dubious value. If you had 30 copies of two different models for a total of 60 TVs to compare you are starting to get to a point where, if there are significant differences, they are likely to show up... In practice, we'd need hard data.
But one would think it wouldn't be technically that hard to establish such data. If regulators actually wanted, you know, an efficient market. For some strange reason they hardly ever seem to think of such things, and we are left having to guess.
I bought a Sony last time around, replacing a Samsung from 2010, but only because by 2022 I tired of waiting for the TV to fail and wanted more bigger better, and I came across what seemed to be a really good sale on a Sony 85". It remains to be seen how long it lasts, but I am very happy with it so far despite some flaws.

My mom has a tumor and having trouble remembering how to select the HDMI and back to the TV and my dad's getting mad at her because of it. The one thing that might make the Sony worth 2x the money is if it lasts a lot longer. But I don't have any reliable info to go by to provide any indication. Here in Europe TVs must last at least five years, but it really is ridiculous that consumer rights don't go much farther than that, especially since we know manufacturers deliberately design products *not* to last in order to maximize profits..! It would be a lot better for consumers in a narrow sense, but also for the environment and therefore everyone (= consumers?), if this whole planned obsolesence playbook got ripped to pieces. A 15 year mandated warranty might lead to higher prices, but also a much better functioning second hand market.
My previous TV was a Samsung 46" bought in 2010 and replaced in 2022, although it was still working perfectly. I bought the biggest TV I could afford when upgrading, and plan to see my current Sony 85" serve for equally long, if it lasts.

This is weird but I can totally see the choppiness as they pan the camera on the TCL. the motion, It feels like when you're playing video games and the amount of fps displayed drops and almost looks like skipping to me is that normal I keep playing 2:50 on the video when the ball is thrown and the camera whips around, it looks like half of the frames are missing on the tcl
