Phew Phew Phew Phew................Wait till you see the BRAVIA 9 Series. That will blow your mind 🤯. I really hope you manage to get in 85" instead of 75" as the zone count difference is big. 75" is set to have 1920 Zones while 85" is expected to have 2800 zones. So that is a huge difference. Please ask them and push them for 85" if possible.

I think at the time, the only way to get a truly large screen was to buy a projector. Back then, it was really only commercial projectors that could offer decent quality. Once again, waiting for a mini LED or OLED from Sony in 98”. While my A90J 83” is still awesome, I really want the same kind of picture in a bigger size. One of these days….
Any suggestion for Dolby vision Bright setting? with Apple TV connected it does not look that good and most of the time it is too bright to watch. So what setting should be changed in this case?
Sony is killing it in the TV game. I only wish they finally updated the HDMI 2.1/eARC situation. Otherwise it’s practically perfect TV lineup. Hope you got some rest this weekend! 😊
@@gavriushkaHopefully I don’t get blacklisted for excessive comments😂. Earlier this year, I had to struggle with juggling expenses for both some very expensive yard drainage and hardscaping paving work and an upgrade to TV from aging Vizio LCD. I’ve owned at least 4 Sony TV since my first 27” Trinitron in the early ‘70s; they’ve always been at the list of my short list and wish I could have afforded one this time around, but budgetary constraints won out, and I opted for an open box LG B2 77” - still a quantum leap over the Vizio. 😊
One of the most clear concise and educational Tv reviews I have seen. This review went beyond to explain the clear difference between the sony and TCL big panel offering. Helped with my next tv purchase for sure.
Found your channel looking for a new large 98-100 inch tv. Your review is the best I have seen. You convey your point very well. I just really love the way you give the details and your opinion showing the audience the "big picture" pun intended. You do a great job of listing the tech all whilst weaving in your thoughts about it without droning on and on about the tech like other channels. Also your video production value is excellent. You speak clearly, concisely and honestly eloquently. You treat your audience with respect by speaking to them as if they should know something about the topic but still fill in the gaps so as not to make them feel inferior or stupid. You sold me on this tv and I have had it for a few weeks now. I also watched your- How to make any TV look better! video. The X90L was a great purchase. I couldn't be happier. The processing of 720 content from UA-cam and UA-cam TV was better than expected. Once you get all of the picture setting dialed in it is amazing! Thank You for your content and keep up the good work.
Excellent review. Wow. I purchaed but canceled the Samsumg 98" Q80C because I have always been a Sony Bravia guy. Now I feel much better about my decision.
The Sony Tax exists for a reason, most of the time at least. That's the reason I've purchased Sony TV's to act as my main display for the last 20 years. The other rooms get the mid range TCL treatment. It's been a good mix so far, and I find it hard to break away from.
We bought Sony 85inch 5 or so years ago and were blown away. Sony TVs are awesome and would really like to check out their new 98inch. Thanks Andrew 👍😎
@@KristiWright Trust, I do notice the little things as I’m fascinated by videography and audio, I keep saying that the production quality of this channel is top notch, and don’t get me started on the B-Roll, sometimes it gets me speechless.
Hi Andrew. Thanks for this review. It was the key reason why I went ahead and bought the 98 Inch X90L TV. Would love to know about how best to calibrate the TV. I recognise that calibration is very individual but would love to hear about some settings which help. And thanks again for the very honest and grounded reviews. Love your channel 🙂
I have a VIZO, and a SHARP AUQOUS, LCD screens, about 15 y.o.. Your info is helping me learn about the new tech out there, for when these get replaced. Thank you, and they look great too. I did a pixel clean, which improved them a lot ,and the new tv's will be pro calibrated as well.
Thanks for the great review. I got the 85 inch version and I’m loving it I did originally buy the 85 inch TCL QM8, while the QM8 looked good. I wanted more color accuracy tv. On a sidenote, are those the new SVS speakers I hope to hear your review soon.
Attended SONY‘s 2024 roadshow. Actually spoke to the SONY rep who recommended the 98 inch to Andrew. The Bravia 9 is exceptional and I dare to say an OLED rival. Can’t wait to hear your review of the Bravia 9.
Hi Andrew & Kristi. Great review of the 98XL. I’ve had one of these on the wall for the last 5-6 months. Love it! I hadn’t sat down and carried out a calibration as such. Have been happy with the custom mode, much like yourself. Keep up the good work. Look forward to your weekly reviews/thoughts. Phil.
I have a Sony 85 inch x85j model . Has 500 plus nits and the picture is pretty dam good .I was thinking about getting a 98 TV . But like most of us . price does come into the picture . Very happy with Sony ,but I Think the only way to move up to a big boy TV is to settle for a TCL or Hisense . I Think I will wait for this fall and black Friday .Hoping to see a 98=100 inch on sale for 1800. Then I WILL pull the trigger . And then put my Epson projector to bed for good . Word to the wise secure those big 85 plus Tv's And buy as much extended warranty as possible . Love the review on Sony sets Andrew .
I don’t have room on the wall for this beast, but you guys have definitely planted the seed of an idea in the back of my mind. Keep up the awesome reviews. P.S. Wasn’t sure about Fridays unplugged episodes but they are growing on me. Lots of good info.
A day before you released this review I ate at a restaurant that had 3 98” TCL TVs broadcasting UA-camTV content. I was very impressed with the picture performance except for some minor blooming I saw. The color and contrast were exceptional. Suffice to say, your Sony review makes the decision for anyone looking for a 98” TV a challenging one. Ultimately it comes down to budget.
It's a lot more than just budget. The TCL's and the Hisens TVs just don't have the record of reliability that Sony has. Sure, any TV can break but the Sony, at least statistically speaking, has shown over the past 20+ years to be the most reliable TV brand on the market. TCL and Hisense aren't anywhere even close to that when it comes to longevity or reliability.
I compared the 98” TCL QM8 to the Sony 98” X90L. For me, deep blacks and contrast were most important. The TCL had much deeper, almost OLED-like blacks. The X90L black levels were more gray than black, which was disappointing. I prefer the image quality on the TCL QM8 and ended up buying it over the 98” X90L. One of the rare times I disagree with Andrew’s assessment.
@@craigslistuser12 That's a very common mistake that many consumers actually make today, unfortunately. The TCL presents really well, no question about it. The problem is that TCL just simply doesn't have the record of reliability or longevity that Sony has. Sony is the #1 rated brand for reliability in the TV space over the past 20 years. As nice as the TCL's look, they simply have too high of a failure rate to ever be recommended. The is the exact same issue that buyers of Hisense TVs run into as well. They look great, but they simply fail at far too high of a frequency.
I had been considering the 75” x90L until I saw the new Bravia line, likely the 7. Can’t wait to see if you both review the Sony ht-a9M2. Really digging the glasses look. Hope you and Kristi are well.
Ended up getting the tcl 98 inch but always love to see reviews on these larger models as they can perform differently to the smaller cousins, hopefully a 120 inch is in the works by someone
@@KristiWright I’m in Australia so the models are named differently here but it’s a qled display type, very happy with it big upgrade over a ultra short throw lg projector I’d had for several years before
Thanks for the review on the Sony 98” tv, it’s been a long time since coming, but would be nice to get a comparison between the Hisense UX110 and TCL 115” tv against the Sony, these two tv’s should give the Sony a challenge, thank you for all the great content you bring to us
A timely review as always Andrew and Kristi! i just pulled the trigger on an 85 inch X90L last night! Do you know based on the specs if i can reasonably expect similar performance once i get mine home and installed?
16:55 I personally own this X90L in the 75" variant and I will say I love this tv. I have a little DSE in one corner but not enough to worry about it. I can't see it in real world content . finally a 98" TV that shuts down that TCL hooray 🙌🏽. P.s. good morning Kristi and I would like a copy of your short film you know the email guys thanks I'll do a review 😅...
Do you plan on reviewing the sony bravia 9 with it's 4,000 peak brightness mini led 4k tv? Have you experienced the tcl x955 mini led 4k tv with 5,000 nits or the hisense 10,000 nits 4k mini led tv that was shown at ces 2024? I'm looking for a 4k mini led tv with the maximum peak brightness of the sony bravia 9 of 4,000 nits, tcl x955 with 5,000 nits or the hisense 10,000 nits sweet spot goodness. I'm used to using very bright displays. I already have burn in issues with all the oled displays that I use, that's why I prefer to have displays with the maximum brightness with no burn in issues because I would disable all the burn in protection features on the oled tvs because oled displays on tvs are just not bright enough. On all non oled displays I have the back light and brightness sliders maxed out. For all oled displays, I intentionally have all the brightness sliders maxed out with dark mode always off with static images. With the display settings that I mentioned, I apply the same max brightness silders settings maxed out 24 hours 7 days a week on purpose even indoors on my sony xperia 1 iv android phones 4k 120 hz oled display and my samsung chrome 4k super amoled display. I always use the option to turn off screen saver as long as it's available otherwise screen time out is set to the highest possible settings or turn off screen time completely if it's available. I treat all oled displays like they are not oled displays and they are guaranteed to have burn in issues.
Hello Andrew.Should I choose this particular TV instead of the sony 85x95l for viewing from 3-4 meters?Which TV will I get more and better emotions from?
As a subscribed viewer, I am appreciated this view of Sony X90L, 98" TV. Thank you. I am getting a 85" soon. Could you please share the after calibration picture settings? Just for reference as I know not every TV is the same. Thank you.
I’d be curious to know what are the top three tvs of the ones you have tested over the years for best out of the box picture accuracy. Seems hard nowadays to find a calibrator and it would be nice to avoid that additional cost… great video! :)
Good afternoon, friends. Really enjoyed this video, it was worth the wait! This would be my top choice in this size, Sony processing continues to be the standard for displays.
I currently have a cheap 2023 75" LG LED TV I got for 780€ and I am really, really satisfied with it, like 9/10, it also hits 1100nits brightness. In order for me to upgrade to a 85" or even a 98" TV I need fist to upgrade my house to a bigger house, because it wont physically fit with combination of left and right speakers. lol But if I do, the upgrade will 100% be a Sony, I believe you when you say it's better than the competition.
That is insane but I like it. Back in 2021, when my spouse and I were completely gutting our home. I said now would be the time to update our TV for the living room. I was leaning toward one of LG's OLED models. However, our budget was not allowing it. So I compromised and went with LG 86NANO90UPA and I gotta say we're happy with it. But down the road when it's time replace it who knows what will be available. Great video. Thanks for sharing.
Andrew how would you compare the black levels & contrast to the X95L? Not a fair fight I know. Just curious. BTW our room has no side viewing. All straight on. Great video!
Great video! I bought this TV and love it. The only thing both my wife and I prefer that differs with your assessment is that we prefer the Standard picture over the Custom….like you said, because that mode is brighter and seems less “washed out.” Plus, I have for a few years been thinking of building a theater room, but this 98” placed in our living area with our heads on the couch about 8 ft away fills our view almost perfectly. Couple that with 10 speakers and 2 subs, to make a great theater room. We even use a BDI console that you turned us on to that can handle the weight, and the new Sony 5000 receiver to tie it all together. The perfect set up…..for us!
Hey Andrew, even tho this rocked as a Full array LED would you have rather it be a mini LED? Like if it came out tomorrow, would you hang that instead? (Should I wait for a 98” min LED?
Dude …..I live 4-5 min walk from Bestbuy. The MINI LED visual is Next level. N usually they are Glossy. U should wait out to see the 2024 options. X90L is great panel, its too MATTE finish for my liking tho. Some ppl actually like Matte monitor n matte Tv. I discovered 1 last week ,n. Realize there ppl out there like it. But at least u should know what u will stuck with cuz 98” so huge.
Just a tip. I got 75 inch u8k Hisense mini led with movies sky blue looks pretty dirty and sport look bad which I ended up returning. Got the 90xl 85 inch and wow sports way better and sky looks less dirty despite it 10 inch bigger. I will say uk8 is brighter but it also had a big motion issue which is the main reason I returned it.
@@enriquemendoza9350 I have to disagree with u . I honestly saw X90L has grey matted screen n Blue/megenta tint . U might not have grabbed the Setting work . Or maybe just the source feed . X90L is tested at all ends that’s worse motion than U8K it’s proven on Rtings . There ppl buy 1 thing live in placebo. But saying it’s true but it’s very common . D same way we pay $80’steak n it feels extra juicy .
@@Yoga_Tv_buying, I compared both tv’s with the same source (Netflix, sports, UHD 4K disk) at the same time. So, for me Sony was way better option for sports, yes of course spend time adjusting different settings. For example u8k had problem with green grass on the field, it keep changing tones on sports mode and standard. I had to dim brightness very low and disable ambiente light and turn of dimming zones which made this tv not worth it because you want this tv because of its brightness levels are really good.
Really great review Andrew, love the B-roll too. Have you reviewed the Samsung "Frame" series yet? I can't find it if you have. I like this TV for the Art feature but wonder if I'm getting gouged for just-that-feature. Curious about your thoughts.
Love your decor and overall taste. It would be great if you could do a video showcasing the living room and all the different pieces, like the couch, coffee table, etc. Links would also be appreciated!
1:26 I’m glad you said it depends on your setup because I know some people consider it a bummer but not me for the RZ50 has more HDMI 2.1 ports than the TV. When I was choosing a tv between TCL and Hisense, Hisense won because I had the ability to have HDMI 2.1 on my eARC port (and all other performance was similar). I know for soundbar users it suck but for AV receiver users it’s great.
I believe he’s addressed that question several times before; similar to audio EQ setting for bass management control, those would, I think, be room dependent. In this case floor space, viewing distance, ambient lighting conditions and colour of the walls/ceiling would all be factors in the calculus.
Wow 👏 what a tv to get hands on. Was really looking forward to seeing that. 3:18 please show tv sizes more often with people or object to get an idea of actual TV. Gives perspective for some who doesn’t have access to seeing them in person. Love Sony TVs and their processing. Love their Vivid mode which makes the color pop and add depth. Another awesome review thanks.
Looking forward to the SVS tower review! Planning to upgrade from my Klipsch RP8000f ii and the new SVS Ultra Pinnacle is on my list. Really enjoying the "follow up" video format! Have a great one!
In my humble opinion, Sony is making the best displays on the market right now. TCL is great and a value leader, but Sony's attention to detail is why I feel they're a cut above.
@@andrewrobinsonreviews Had more than a few CRT TVs in my time, and the only brand that I can recall coming close to Sony’s picture and audio quality with its separate speakers was the short lived Proton brand from Taiwan - sold through early NAD dealers, IIRC.
I need help. I have a TCL 65” QM7 mini led. It was $700. But i want either a 75” or 85”. Couch is like 8 feet away. The sony X90L in 85” is $1400. Great deal because its clearance. Is this tv better than the tcl? Im concerned with blooming because we use subtitles for everything
Hello, I just exchanged my 77Inch Sony A95L for this X90L 98 Inches because my sofa is about 12-13 feet away from the TV, also high ceilings. It should arrive in a week or two. I just found the LG qned 98t 98 inch 2024, which TV do you think is better? I still have time to exchange. Should I stick to my X90L? Thanks!
Wow 150 lbs is heavy. That TV lift is going to be a a must have. I will be wishing for your review of the new Samsung TV’s. Competition is great for the consumer but Sony always seem to pull a rabbit out of their hats with enhanced performance and technology. I am wondering how well does this TV integrated with their current line of AV receivers? See ya Friday.
Great review. Hoping will Kristi can address this tv vs the excellent x95L. Realizing that one only comes in 85 inch. Would like to know how this 90L compares to it in terms of contrast.
I wish TV manufactures would add a dedicated HDMI output to pass audio along to AVRs and soundbars. This would leave all the inputs open, especially the HDMI 2.1 for game consoles.
Thanks Andrew for your review and thoughts. I wiill be waiting for reviews on the new Hisense 98" UX, I had the 85" and liked it but I could see where the Sony had better dynamic range/black to white gradiation capabilities but still a good value for the buck tv for those of us whos personal accountants (wife😉) limits our tv budgets. I only returned the 85" UX because they announced the 98".
So thanks to your review I’m going to purchase this Sony 98X90L during this 2024 Black Friday. I live in France and in Europe we have the TCL 98C855 which is 25% cheaper, but you convince me that all the brightness of the TCL is not relevant when it came to image quality, uniformity and upscaling. Thx 🙏🙏🙏
@Andrew Will you be reviewing Sony's latest bravia 9 flagship tv...please say yes!!!......Given how much last year's X95L impressed you and bravia 9 is supposedly the really big improvement in brightness as well as black levels....courtesy of sony's new backlight technology and unique local dimming algorithm ... you should , in my opinion , absolutely try that out.......
I agree with some of the comments. If you have done the calibrations for every tv, why not leave the settings you did in the review notes? Everyone can fine tune from there
Years ago I went to go buy a TV in the sales rep was a retired engineer from Google. He went right down the line from Samsung, LG to Sony and when he got to Sony he said it has the most natural picture of any brand. You said green leaves will look naturally green not overly bright and saturated like Samsung and so forth. He was spot on.
Dear Andrew, Thank you as always for the fantastic review. I've got to ask you a question, though-if you were to buy a 98-inch Sony for yourself, would you go for an LED model, or would you rather wait until Sony releases MiniLED in the upcoming year or so? I'd love to buy it, but investing seven thousand pounds in potentially outdated tech might not be the wisest decision. So far, I've purchased all my home theater equipment based on your reviews and am eagerly awaiting your advice.
Are you going to review the Bravia 9? If so, two requests. 1) Please compare size vs quality (98 inch X90l vs 75/85 Bravia 9). 2) If you still have the Bravia Quad, Bravia 9 as a center channel. I cant decide if l should get a 98 inch X90l or an 85 inch Bravia 9. Thanks.
Same here, looking at the 98” X90L the Bravia 9 85” which just released. Currently the price for the 98” is higher but we all know it will drop down to the $5k of the Bravia 9.
Yet another comment to this thread- on the subject of mainstream brands’ response to YT viewers’ / customer feedback. On a recent review of the new Bravia Theatre Series - specifically the Quad replacement for HTA9, I casually mentioned a feature that some folks might consider desirable on the little black controller/ hub - specifically the option for connection of the centre channel audio output to a third party device, rather than the audio surface speaker on currently only select Sony TVs. Colour me surprised to see two responses within a 24 hr period from a company spokesperson on that subject; as in, “thanks for the feedback, I’ll forward that on to product development/engineering” and “they are trying their best to let the newer generations get the quality we enjoyed in years past …. without the space or rat’s nest”
You mentioned how good the TV is at upscaling 1080p Blu-ray content. Do you first have to disable upscaling on both the disc player and the AVR for this to happen correctly? If so, do you lose your AVR's on-screen-display for volume, etc?
I love Sony TVs I’m on my second one I have the x900h 65 inch. Awesome tv I wish I went with a 85inch. My first tv was a Samsung 32in 1080p. Then lg 55inch 1080p, Sony 55inch 4k then now my 65inch
This may seem highly specific, but I'm presently looking at very similar pricing between the equal-sized models of the X90L and the X95J (contrary to what may seem logical, all of this acrually costs more in Japan and doesn't discount particularly quickly). My pretty obvious question here is... have a couple of years of advancements given an edge to the 90 series, or would it still be best to swing for the older 95 model?
The Sony 5000ES is not sold in Australia but the 360 Spatial and integration with my Sony TV are features I really want. Do you think these features are good enough to grey import one into Australia and foregoing a warranty instead of just getting a Marantz cinema 50 locally?
Happy Monday Andrew & Kristi - Quick question: It looks like they offer an 85" in the X90L. Would you say the same feature set and custom profile setting mentioned in your review would also apply to the 85" version of this TV? Do you think we could expect to see similar performance w/r/t blooming, DSE, and other positive highlights you mentioned?
@@andrewrobinsonreviews Excellent! I've been looking at replacements for our main TV, going from a 65" to 85". At a sitting distance of only 10ft, I think a 98" might just be too big for the space, even though the wall could easily support it.
I’m having a hard time deciding to get this because if it’s size OR The LG G4 83 inch OLED! I currently have a Sony Bravia Master Series 77 inch OLED. How much of a picture difference is there? Meaning will it just suck in comparison?
Dont buy this tv bro. You are coming from 77 4K OLED to 98 inch (still 4K) and you watch it from the same distance it will degrade the image for you. If you need the size that much, I would find either LG Z2 or the new G4 at 83... but to be honest... nothing can beat the Sony XR processor atm... Only the LG Z2 has matched the picture quality and its absurdly expensive ...if you can even find it. ... So just move the sofa closer with half a meter ... and you get the effect of 98inch but you dont loose the quality
I have a C3, S90C and A80J. My favorite is the A80J with the C3 as a close 2nd when watching HDR, Dolby Vision content. They are 65 and 55 inch tv’s and I now have the itch to move up in the size category. For somebody who has been strictly OLED for the last 4 years, would a switch to this tv (LED) be a noticeable downgrade in terms of picture quality? PS. Love, love your reviews. You and Kristi are the best in the business. ✊
Waiting for 115 inchers to become affordable before replacing my 130 inch projector set up. TCL is releasing their QM8 soon for 20k to 27k. Give me a lower tier model at that size for 5 or 6k at superbowl sale time and I'm in.
Curious, its now well into 2024 and you’ve seen many tv’s in different sizes and price points. I'll be looking at purchasing a 75” tv in September or October and I'm considering the Hisense U8L or comparable TVL. But the x90L is still available and at similar prices to the Hisense and TCL. Which would you recommend in the 75” size?
Good afternoon and Happy Sunday to all! I’m jelly, would love to have a display that size but unfortunately, not practical! Will have to remain satisfied with my poor little 77” C2
I have a 65” x90l arriving Monday. I just don’t have room for anything larger. But looking forward to setting this up. I’ve always been a Sony fan and have their x930e in another location. I hope this comes close to that as it’s a great tv. Great channel. With your subscriber base I’m surprised LG snubs y’all. 🤷🏼♂️

Really appreciate the visual aid when talking about the picture modes, it's so helpful to compare the profiles to each other.
Glad you found it helpful.
We appreciate you noticing the finer details Andrew puts into these videos. And good morning!

Phil.
Thanks for sharing!
Teasing with those SVS speakers in frame, anxious for that review, let’s have it next week please
Thanks!
Thank you! Really appreciate the extra love.
Thankyou Andrew. The 75 inch X90L was delivered and set up here in Australia yesterday and is matched with a Samsung 990C. Very happy.
And how well do they work together? Does the Sony remote control the sound? I'm planning on this exact combo.
Great educational review as usual. I hope sony sends you a Bravia 9 for review. This is the one I have my eyes on.
X90L isn’t being replaced and is staying around for all sizes this year as the option in the line up before the Bravia 7
You going to just sit there and tease us with those SVS towers? We see you.

Cool review, I did just purchase the 85 inch version of the X90L and I am extremely pleased with the set
I'm glad to hear you're happy with it!
Ended up getting the tcl 98 inch but always love to see reviews on these larger models as they can perform differently to the smaller cousins, hopefully a 120 inch is in the works by someone
Which TCL did you get? The Q class or the other one?
@@KristiWright I’m in Australia so the models are named differently here but it’s a qled display type, very happy with it big upgrade over a ultra short throw lg projector I’d had for several years before
Thanks for the review on the Sony 98” tv, it’s been a long time since coming, but would be nice to get a comparison between the Hisense UX110 and TCL 115” tv against the Sony, these two tv’s should give the Sony a challenge, thank you for all the great content you bring to us
One of The best reviews. If not thee best. Well Done! Super informative and great speaking voice. Thank you.

Did you connect a Sony AVR to it? I would like to hear about its eARC compatibility. How responsive is volume control and supported audio formats.

Thank you.
Looking forward to your thoughts on the LG G4 in 83” size. Hope you get an opportunity to review it.
I’d be curious to know what are the top three tvs of the ones you have tested over the years for best out of the box picture accuracy. Seems hard nowadays to find a calibrator and it would be nice to avoid that additional cost… great video! :)
Can’t wait for the SVS titan or pinnacle review. Oh wait, that’s coming up next Sunday!!! 😮😮😮😮
In order for me to upgrade to a 85" or even a 98" TV I need fist to upgrade my house to a bigger house, because it wont physically fit with combination of left and right speakers. lol
But if I do, the upgrade will 100% be a Sony, I believe you when you say it's better than the competition.
I Noticed New SVS speakers First, can't wait to see your Review coz I shortlisted it....
Stay tuned...
That sounds AWESOME!
Should i get 98 inch x90l or Bravia 9 85 inch
Hey Andrew, even tho this rocked as a Full array LED would you have rather it be a mini LED? Like if it came out tomorrow, would you hang that instead? (Should I wait for a 98” min LED?
My answer ua-cam.com/video/VCi_R973wEY/v-deo.htmlsi=pcIFgwYTvZkok2Kk&t=1396

I’m excited for that review also!
Love your decor and overall taste. It would be great if you could do a video showcasing the living room and all the different pieces, like the couch, coffee table, etc. Links would also be appreciated!
A video in that vein is coming.
Have you considered sharing TV calibration settings with your viewers? Maybe a Member exclusive perk?
I believe he’s addressed that question several times before; similar to audio EQ setting for bass management control, those would, I think, be room dependent. In this case floor space, viewing distance, ambient lighting conditions and colour of the walls/ceiling would all be factors in the calculus.
been waiting for this review stoked to see it.

Great to hear. Moving into a new home soon and was was trying to decide between the 85 inch Sony or the TCL QM8. Think I will go with the Sony.

Thanks for a great review.
Wow. Love it . When I move I think that will be my next family room tv . Thank you both for such great work do. I really enjoyed this .

I agree with some of the comments. If you have done the calibrations for every tv, why not leave the settings you did in the review notes? Everyone can fine tune from there
1. TCL has similar size tv
2. Heard they supply big screen to everyone including Sony
Dear Andrew,
Thank you as always for the fantastic review.

Thanks.
this!
Same here, looking at the 98” X90L the Bravia 9 85” which just released. Currently the price for the 98” is higher but we all know it will drop down to the $5k of the Bravia 9.
I have been waiting for this one I just made popcorn and a dirty martini. I’m going to really enjoy this one cheers
Hope it was worth the wait!
Awesome review, as always. Sorry you had to watch "Driven", though

Hi, very informative review, Recently got a X90L 65 inches, Can un share ur calibration settings?
You mentioned how good the TV is at upscaling 1080p Blu-ray content. Do you first have to disable upscaling on both the disc player and the AVR for this to happen correctly? If so, do you lose your AVR's on-screen-display for volume, etc?
Yes, but keep in mind that some external devices like Nvidia Shield and Apple 4k are amazing at upscaling.

Dem SVS towers lookin mighty ready for the big screen that is Andrew Robinson reviews.
Right on. Here we go! Love a good sony review

There is a good to great chance the 85 inch model will perform similarly.

Burn those TV's and get a 77" LG G4 OLED.
Got any Videos on the new BRAVIA Models ???
Waiting for 115 inchers to become affordable before replacing my 130 inch projector set up. TCL is releasing their QM8 soon for 20k to 27k. Give me a lower tier model at that size for 5 or 6k at superbowl sale time and I'm in.

Curious, its now well into 2024 and you’ve seen many tv’s in different sizes and price points. I'll be looking at purchasing a 75” tv in September or October and I'm considering the Hisense U8L or comparable TVL. But the x90L is still available and at similar prices to the Hisense and TCL.
