      @@spencerzumwalt8957 Last time I tuned it was last week. And I'm going back and forth between E and drop D. Still pretty much in tune except the G string.
      Tone pot turns slowly compared to the volume know, which I like. You can still turn it with your palm while playing.
      The volume pot turns way too fast, you can accidentally turn it down a notch without even noticing. I will probably move the volume pot to the tone location and fill the hole with a kill switch and use a better pot.
      Nothing bad to say about the pickup selector.
      The pickups are absolute trash to me. Can't get a nice metal crunch not even with a booster.
      Too much high end. Hope that a pair of Seymour Duncan Black Winter will improve the sound quite a lot.

    I haven’t played guitar in like 10 years, I then wanted to get back into playing and when I went to try out some guitars it was uncomfortable and awkward playing them even the expensive ones. Weeks later I came back to see if there’s one I like and when I tried this one it just felt right. This guitar is extremely comfortable to play in and it’s light too. The neck on it is great.... I bought it 10 mins after playing it.

      Cool. Imo the Ibanez rg is the evolution in electric guitar. They simply are the most modern guitar ergonomically, at least for that last 30 years. I think the only thing that would make them better is if they had compound radius necks; that's the only down side to them that I see. Enjoy

    I just scored this guitar used in mint condition with air norton slapped on it for 233 USD. Also managed to snag new, never opened pair of D-Activators for 100 USD. Combined the two and let me tell you it roars. Previous owner didn't do proper job with wiring the air norton. The only issue I'm facing now is it goes out of tune a little bit too much IMO. I'm gonna play with it a little bit more to figure it out.

    Everything he said is true except I feel some neck dive. But man, the fretwork is impeccable! I changed to 11-48 Slinky's, tuned down to D and loosened the neck just like a 1/8-1/4 turn. Then I lowered the action as much as I could without too much buzz on the low D string (use light touch when picking). Then I lowered the action on all the other strings to the exact same height, and then finally I raised the middle two strings (C and F) just a tiny bit to match the neck radius. The neck radius is almost straight but if you look closely it has a very slight curve. This is now the best guitar I have ever played. There is almost no buzz, the action is low as hell and I don't fret out anywhere no matter how high I bend. Intonation is great, pickups can get close and get a lot of output without causing issues. Bending strings is easy despite the flat neck, chording is easy no issues at all. And it's really comfortable playing even up to the 24th fret thanks to the neck-through design.
    If you're thinking of getting this guitar for shredding with low action I can really, really recommend it.

    • @Dennis-ud2nh
      @Dennis-ud2nh 2 роки тому

      The action is around 1 mm on both the highest and lowest string on the 14th fret and the neck relief about 0.05 - 0.1mm around fret 8 - 10 if anyone's wondering. I forgot to say, the nut is a bit high for this setup it seems. I might decide to get it changed.

    • @klap00
      @klap00 Рік тому

      Neck dive is sometimes not relating to the guitar but the strap that you have. For example I have one strap with what every other guitar that I have neckdives, but not the RGRT421. But the guitars that neckdived with that strap, don't dive on another strap.

    Wie gut klingt bitte der Tri-Rec. Is ja unglaublich. Ist die Röhrenbestückung Stock? Und die Gitarre ist echt ein Traum. Schade, dass die Bridge der RGA32 verworfen wurde. Die 421 hat glaub ich dieselbe Bridge wie die RGA42. Sieht leider etwas billig aus. Mit der massiveren von der RGA32 wär die Gitarre nochmal etwas schöner anzusehen.

    Honestly this guitar is packed with features you rarely see in this price range. Real, durable mahogany, not that softer meranti Ibanez likes to use, one of like only 3 currently running Ibanez guitars to do so for $500 or under, and the other two are essentially one guitar in two different colors. 5-piece neck, you sometimes see it in their 8-string ones but nowhere else except their higher end guitars, and the same goes for the valute. And neck-through? You never see that for this price with any brand ever, literally, this is one of if not the single cheapest neck-through guitar on the market (not counting those goofy Traveler guitars). The only thing I would change out of the gate is the pickups, Ibanez Quantums aren't awful but they are a bit lackluster and I feel they're wasting a lot of the potential of this instrument. Put some Dimarzios or Seymour Duncans in this thing and I think it'll turn it into a real monster.

    im brand new to the guitar world, and eyeballing this one as my first one to get. while listening to you around 10:20 to the ending of 10:30 i could imagine you turning on the gain and going into a harsher followup to it. idk why i thought of that but had to really comment that.
    i believed i was going to want an acoustic guitar because of cost efficiency, the beauty of the sound, but it really hit me, that i listened to metal almost all my life on all the highest points and on the lowest points in my life. that is what drew me to picking this guitar up ideally for both the soft sides of the instrument, but also for the heavy stuff too. i wont be able to have lessons from any teachers around where i live, but i will try to learn by ear the easier songs, and try to stay away from tabs and from tutorials on how to play a song. it could teach me some techniques and could help me learn songs faster and learn how to explore the fretboard more. thank you for reviewing this piece! :)
