Not really. Compared to today's emulation accuracy, it might seem quite shoddy, but this was still around the infancy of emulation, and the Dreamcast wasn't a particularly powerful machine compared to the other three consoles in its generation, so the fact that it can - to a certain degree of accuracy - emulate a console that only released nine years prior is quite impressive. The modern equivalent would be the Playstation 5 emulating a base model PS4.
@@alfiehicks1 I'm sorry what? You really don't know your hardware if you think the Dreamcast wasn't powerful. The Dreamcast was based off the Sega Naomi arcade hardware which inspired hardware like Atomiswave nearly a decade later. The Dreamcast was the second hardware to bring home a 1:1 arcade experience next to the NeoGeo AES. Believe me the Dreamcast was more than capable in performing emulation. At best the software emulation was in it's infancy as you said but the Dreamcast hardware was more than capable of delivering which is why Naomi lived on even after the fall of the Dreamcast. I think you need to do a little research in the history and specifications of the Dreamcast. The reason it failed wasn't because of it's performance. It was because of piracy.
@@bruno-vicious What the fuck are you even talking about? I know what the Dreamcast is, what it was based on and what it's capable of. I also know that it's very common knowledge that emulation requires a device to be exponentially more powerful than the console it's emulating, which the Dreamcast simply wasn't. Even the PS2, Xbox and Gamecube couldn't emulate the Mega Drive with great accuracy. Plus, the MD is a notoriously difficult system to emulate, especially with its sound hardware, so it's no wonder it came out the way it did. And what on Earth does the console's failure have to do with this? The reason you gave was a complete myth, anyway, so it's even less relevant to the topic.

I'm surprised you didn't include the Dreamcast Sonic Adventure 2 Green Hill Bonus level, where it starts out on a 2d plane and then switches to 3D. @@thesupervideogamenerdmore3171 Generation's version of Sonic 1 is also in 3D and it was featured in this video, yet I don't hear you complaining about it.
I call the Sega Saturn version it's own port since it's not running emulation. That's why the ring sounds are a bit different and the spring sounds like it came from flash games on Newgrounds.
So the Dreamcast's version is emulated I presume but with not the best emulator? Btw, I'm offended that the USA/Europe version is labeled "genesis" instead of "genesis/mega drive". Anyway the euro version runs slower when ran at the normal speed of a euro machine so should probably be included in the comparison. I'm also annoyed of course that we don't have the extra interrupt scrolling of the apparently later Japanese version. Also this is green hill zone comparison not sonic the hedgehog comparison judging by generations having normal gameplay instead of the emulated mega drive version?
Funny, I used to own Sega Smash Pack and dont remember Sonic sounding like Master System...but I like it. STILL, why didn't they just use the Genesis music as red book audio? Couldn't they have hooked up a model 1 Genesis to a tape recorder and gotten the music that way?
Master system version Japan is just as same as America, I can't really tell the difference. Saturn version, different music but same. Dreamcast version, worse music. J2ME version, it's like 8 bit but with 16 bit colors, the other version, same as Master System but with 8 bit music. GBA version, very small, poor quality. DS version, same with 3DS but 3DS is a lot more better. Android version, same as Master System but it's the most common version to play it these days. Switch version, same a Master System but 2nd most common version to play. Generations version, it's just in 3D. Mania version, more remastered than Android version, longer.

@@sonicwithagun2347 please, i'm no want to perish
I'm surprised you didn't include the Dreamcast Sonic Adventure 2 Green Hill Bonus level, where it starts out on a 2d plane and then switches to 3D.
And the PAL Europe version of Sonic 1 (different from NTSC USA Sonic 1 ) would have been nice to see the speed difference.
Would have been nice to have seen Sonic 1 3DS on a real 3DS to see that 3D perspective
Sonic Adventure 2's version is too different because it is 3D.
this video is about sonic 1 the game, not just green hill zone
@@thesupervideogamenerdmore3171
Generation's version of Sonic 1 is also in 3D and it was featured in this video, yet I don't hear you complaining about it.
@@marissawolff8491 It is visually 3D, but Classic Green Hill from 3DS Generations is still only 2D movement.
@@thesupervideogamenerdmore3171
Okay. Well, I haven't played either version of that Sonic game, so I'm not gonna go any further in this conversation.
By your bonus inclusion standards you should've also added SA2 and Sonic 1 on Master System since both had Green Hill Zone in it
I think the reason for creating Sonic Generations and celebrating Sonic's 20 year anniversary. Isn't it ?
The usa version and Europe version are different. The music is slower in the European version
@Carter indeed, but the slow music was more noticeable to me when I first played ntsc sonic. Pal 50hz sucks. Im glad those days are over.
Yes I agree...
9:00 Nintendo 3DS

12:08 Sonic Mania
15:16 Sonic Generations
I have a soft spot for the DS version from Classic Collection. It’s the best of the handheld Sonic 1’s.
This is the first time I've heard the Dreamcast version and... ew.
Best versions:
Mega Drive/Genesis
Saturn
J2ME Glu
Nintendo DS (Because this version is like the emulator)
IOS/Android

And just when I thought the Sega Saturn was bad.... The Dreamcast was a full ear assault!
Edit: The J2ME can make a person's ear bleed!
I don't see anything wrong with J2ME's music. It sounds okay to me.
Say that to the GBA version
I call the Sega Saturn version it's own port since it's not running emulation. That's why the ring sounds are a bit different and the spring sounds like it came from flash games on Newgrounds.
Dreamcast: sounds and music in the 8-bit version
Nothing beats the genesis/mega drive original. Though it is interesting to see the spin dash included on ports like on the Saturn.
2013 mobile port is right there
Una pregunta que consola utilizaste para el Sonic manía?
Sonic manía es de PS4 Xbox one Nintendo switch y Windows
I don't remember Sonic Jam having such a poor jump sound....
I like it.
wow generations looks amazing. I need to go back to the old games. Special times.
Mania absolutely
So the Dreamcast's version is emulated I presume but with not the best emulator? Btw, I'm offended that the USA/Europe version is labeled "genesis" instead of "genesis/mega drive". Anyway the euro version runs slower when ran at the normal speed of a euro machine so should probably be included in the comparison. I'm also annoyed of course that we don't have the extra interrupt scrolling of the apparently later Japanese version. Also this is green hill zone comparison not sonic the hedgehog comparison judging by generations having normal gameplay instead of the emulated mega drive version?
... Mega Drive wins ... 🥇
Best music, speed ... the original !
Android and IOS came in second
What about sonic mania
Intro Music on Sonic Generation is a reference of Ending Music of Sonic the Hedgehog 1
J2ME sounds cool grafic was like sonic pocket advanture (glu version)

I grew up with classic collection on the ds, so I have WAY too much nostalgia for that game
Same!
Feels bad when the best version of one of my favourite games can only be played on a phone🤦♂️
Is something wrong with it? You can take it with you anywhere!
Sonic Mania and Generations aren't a version of sonic 1. They're different games.
@Moncel Clark Paco Aguanta yeah but it's basically just a port.
I miss the Game Gear and Master System Version
Funny, I used to own Sega Smash Pack and dont remember Sonic sounding like Master System...but I like it.
STILL, why didn't they just use the Genesis music as red book audio? Couldn't they have hooked up a model 1 Genesis to a tape recorder and gotten the music that way?
One thing that the DS version could have added is a progress line similar to New Super Mario Bros.
Oh god no
It's emulated! What did you expect?
@@JoseGregorioValeroVillarroel People can hack or add to emulated games. Also, remaking parts of the Sonic trilogy is not that hard.
It was my fav childhood game.. It was so nostalgic.
You should’ve included the Sonic Generations 3DS version because that one is also a direct recreation of the first Green Hill act.
Where i can get da iFone version?
I think on java mobile
Wow, I don't remember the 3DS one sounding so...off.
I have the Sonic 2 version, so I think it got mostly fixed.
I grew up with the Dreamcast version so that ones always gonna be my favorite lol
Sonic Generations is the kind of concept they should have strived for with the Dreamcast. They squandered the Dreamcast.
6:00 Sonic's fingers are moving faster than anything in the world, along with some strange music.
GOTTA GO FAST
one of my cousins used to have the 2nd j2me version
Master system version Japan is just as same as America, I can't really tell the difference. Saturn version, different music but same. Dreamcast version, worse music. J2ME version, it's like 8 bit but with 16 bit colors, the other version, same as Master System but with 8 bit music. GBA version, very small, poor quality. DS version, same with 3DS but 3DS is a lot more better. Android version, same as Master System but it's the most common version to play it these days. Switch version, same a Master System but 2nd most common version to play. Generations version, it's just in 3D. Mania version, more remastered than Android version, longer.
Uhhhhhhhhhh
