Any christians reading this who think atheists abandon their faith on a whim, listen to her answer. Spot on. Many atheists, including myself, have similar stories of being deeply religious and gradually moving away from their beliefs. That process, if done honestly, is a very difficult and stressful one. But, it's worthwhile in the end.
Same here, but while being theist, the fear I lived on because of the notion of a hell and a God who's wrath I would eventually have to face eventually led me to eventually trying to take my life, someone had to stop me, after a while I still tried praying and asking "God" why he would still let me suffer, even being a believer and a worshipper for nearly three years, why, and of course I got nothing, I never did every, even before the incident, so I decided to leave it, I've been happier ever since then
@@azrael6925 I've been there myself. Glad you were able to move past it. The fear of hell still loomed in my brain for a few years after losing my faith... It's tough to shake that "what if", even when the logic of such a place existing makes no sense especially considering the supposed omnibenevolent nature of "god."

We have the evidence and reasons to believe things and that's the best we get. I can't say that this is impossible but I can confidently say 'come on, who are you kidding with your claim'😂
Ask "why do you believe" to a theist and see if you get as coherent and thoughtful an answer as this.

Christianity doesn't make one immune to sin, but rather reinforces better ways of living. Just because a few priests did atrocities, doesn't debunk all of Christianity and still doesn't disapprove that the woman's logic in this video is flawed. If we were to use your logic, we can say that atheists to have committed atrocious acts through out history, therefore atheism to is corrupted.

She really quit because she didn't have a relationship with Christ but wanted wisdom without sacrifice. She falls into the category of "believers" that didn't walk in Spirit. They have no supernatural encounters with God nor know His voice. We worship in Spirit and Truth. Most skip the spirit part and just try to live with Truth.
Demonstrate how you confirmed that she did not "walk in the spirit". Walk us through your process of how you confirmed that.

My father beat me since before I could remember. I used to cry out "Oh my god dad!?" To which he would say "Good luck with you and your god!". I gave up on God at 4.

She said she stopped believing because there is NO evidence that a God or Jesus had a hand in constructing the bible or the church. She has said many other times that she is not a believer because YOU and all other theists have NOT presented sufficient evidence (outside of faith) to justify having a belief in a god.

I'm not an atheist, I'm an "I don't care". And when certain people feel the need to proselytize and see me as a ready victim for it I explain to them that the reason my being an "I don't care" is because it's the answer to every single one of their questions. I find that it saves a lot of time. It's not that I don't have the time to waste, I do that a lot, it's just that I prefer not to waste it in that particular way. This is the most I've said on the subject in years and I hope to start another trend in that direction.

I became an atheist as soon as I was old enough to understand what that word meant. As a child, nobody ever made a concerted effort to indoctrinate me, so I just grew up knowing the basics of Christian mythology from pop culture osmosis.
I also was always interested in science fiction, fantasy, and mythology, so I read prolifically all throughout my youth and into early adulthood. As soon as I started to actually look into the claims of the bible, I immediately recognized it as just another set of fairy tales.
It honestly baffles me how grown adults can believe this nonsense, so much that they're willing to kill and/or die for a bunch of absurd fables about magic, monsters, and talking animals.

The Christian college I went to for a bit made us take religious class every semester n after the history of religion class it felt dumb to still follow something that was tailored to grift the gullible and control the rest. I started asking myself. If the first 2 commandments are basically your self and love your neighbor then why donthe rest exist? And then I realized everyone's "moral compass" religious or not doesn't not have the same lines. Like to me if I love my self and my neighbor I'm not gonna then sleep with his wife or steal from or hurt him but if that's not a given then that means someone has to be told that to find out its not right. Religion was just the way civilization figured out how to curb the affect serial killers were having on the population. Not really but I mean maybe
Depending on what you believe “the church” is cause the real church existed before the catholic church and protestant. Originally there were no denominations. So you have the church and then you have the apostate church. There has been believers in Christ for approximately 2000 years. That is older then the catholicism and the reformation.

Fastest way to become a Athiest is to read the bible.
God is the name given to the imaginary ideal role model of Christians that would be the pinnacle of virtue for them. All religions have the same basis for their gods but with varying ideals and virtues. If people actually tried to live up to the virtues of their pinnacle the world should be pretty good.. But it's all got lost in translation!

Not every form of Christianity is correct, there's only going to be one and not everybody is going to agree with it, no matter what, it was never gonna be that way.
Lots of cults, lots of religions, and lots of claims of being the only “right” one confuse a lot of young people but seem ridiculous outside of a concept of human exceptionalism. We never did see god’s birth certificate, or study his DNA; we only get to speculate on divinity through each other, and as the kaleidoscope of peoples moves through the world the divinity we hear about, and its attributes, transforms with the spinning; to me the point is the divinity behind all the manifestations of the kaleidoscope, the proverbial elephant that all the blind men are speculating on, having arguments about the tail versus the trunk, and as a shaman I listen to them all because I sense the elephant in the room, and the importance of creating a relationship with it, the point isn’t having a party gathered around his trunk or his tail, the point is unity with the heart, deep inside the elephant, and the only thing uninteresting to me is the people who have left the room and gone off into the mall of materialism.
I think there’s a difference between the monotheism of the west, which has a big loophole for secular interest and passion, which is where obstacles to peacefulness come up, and the religions of the east - Hindu, Dao, Buddhism - with their focus on merging with the divine,naturally less well suited for making war.
“Panenthenic” is a sense-based merging with nature, and “monistic” is an undifferentiated unity of all beyond space and time vs. “theistic” - a union with a transcendent god outside of oneself.
Seeing all other people as part of yourself is something common to those three eastern religions;

The fact that the Bible has many authors from several generations spanning thousands of years
And the book is coherant and sequentially related and structured in a way that only 1 author can do is proof that God was working through these writers.

we can't get rid of this idea of a god... our whole society is built on ideas that have arisen in our heads. There is no INTENTION to the universe.
For me, it was the opposite. I was agnostic-athiest as a teenager. I found the teleological, cosmological, ontological, and moral argument very convincing. I am now an agnostic-thiest.

She wasn't researching to see if she was an actual Christian, genius. She set out to find evidence that proves God and Jesus had a hand in constructing the bible and thus the Christian church.
She did that because she learned how the bible was actually constructed which was via The Nicaea Council (they didn't even include all of the original manuscripts or books in the Bible).
After not finding any proof in support of the claim mentioned above she became a pantheist- essentially, not believing in a God via a religion but believing God is the universe- she ultimately settled on atheism. She landed there because, as she has said before, if she were being intellectually honest with herself she has to admit that she is a believer based on faith and feelings because there is not sufficient evidence to support the claim a God exists.

So you’ve done some research, but, you still lack a very important bit of knowledge to actually understand the full context. Your friend is incorrect, there are multiple historical manuscripts that support the Bible. In fact, the Bible is the most documented book in the ancient world.
The earliest one I am aware of is the “John Ryand Papyrus” dating to about AD130. There are about 268 of those Manuscripts.
And the council of Nicaea had very little to do with the books and the writings. It mostly had to do with the Trinity.@@DemonstrablyFalse
The Bible itself, by the way, was canonized long before the council of Nicaea. By a couple of hundred years.

Walk me through the process you used to confirm that a god exists, Jesus was divine, and that either of them played an actual role in writing the bible. Apparently, you have verifiable answers to that question. Such a shame your response didn't include them though...strange.
You are right that God and material are not the same thing. God created all material things, but God is pure spirit. And it really comes down to whether you believe wether Jesus of Nazareth rose from the dead. If he did rise from the dead then we have a basis for Christianity. If he didn’t rise from the dead, we don’t have a basis for Christianity And this choice to believe that is very personal. If someone cannot accept the fact that Jesus rose from the dead, I respect their decision. Also, the space between my cognitive ability and a fly on my knee is pretty wide, but the space between my brain, and God, who is knowledge and intelligence itself is infinite. If I were a betting man, I would say that there is a Creator and that there is alot of stuff that we don’t figure out with our fly-brains. For me, faith is not a jump in the dark, but it is a “stroll in the twilight.” There is certainly enough evidence in my life to take a chance on believing in God. I guess one more thing is that because of Christ, becoming flesh and suffering the way he did, we can never say that God doesn’t understand us, or wasn’t willing to take on our misery so as to take miserable creation and restore it back to participation in divinity. Oh, and one more thing… Science seems to give us a pretty clear idea that there’s a soul that out lives the body because of near death experiences. I think near death experiences if you really look into them are enough to at least make an atheist question that we have an immortal soul And something after this life. Oh, and something else, I have spoken to many people of had mystical experiences and actually I have experienced Jesus and Mary. I mean these are really level headed and sane individuals! Just my thoughts… Please be kind in your response.
Just actually reading the Bible is great to make one an atheist and if that doesn’t take one all the way there how the leaders of religions act is the final nail in the coffin as they are hypocrites to their own book and teachings

You have to have faith. You have to read the correct Bible. The KJV Bible. Because that was the only Holy Bible that was inspired by the Holy Spirit. Every other doctrines of other versions are written by man. Because "man" adds and takes away from the true Word of God. And God says that people who add or take away is in trouble with God (God's judgement)

It did not happen? Pretty easy answer. No evidence of it except people telling people telling other people telling people who then wrote it down and it later became the Bible. No good reason to believe any of it happened

All accounts of Jesus are second hand or further. Not a single eyewitness account of him. Only “visions” after his death. You have no proof of the dead being raised, angels or anything. Your feelings don’t count. You need tangible proof. Something anyone can validate.

1. The KJB is a translation of a copy of a copy of a copy of a translation, etc etc.
2. Those copies and translations were written by humans.
3. Humans are fallible and make mistakes.
From that we can conclude that there are errors in the kjb, don't you think? Just think of the telephone game. From what we have in the bible, we can not conclude for certain what happend 2000 years ago.

The Church wasn’t founded on the Bible. That is when I become skeptical about the research she supposedly did. It seems your objection to Christianity is actually an opposition to Protestantism or evangelicalism.

You offered a host of claims and not a single shred of evidence to support anything you claimed. Before you can even say the "Holy Spirit" has done x, y, or z you have to demonstrate that the "Holy Spirit" exists.

I'm trynna understand how people get this mentality I grew up Christian but didn't think I needed to go down into history to proof God. If you want to see God look in the Bible how it says to hear from him and he will answer you must humble yourself and get ready to give your life to him. Once he sees that your serious he will deeply answer your prayers and lead you to the light its really not hard you guys. It's acually easy to find God but harder to keep living for him. It's terrible how the devil makes people go away from christ bc of some false church.
I will agree these days most churches are preaching false things but that shouldn't make you wanna leave Jesus stick with him and him only and he will show you what church to follow he will guide you for sure as he's done with others before. If anyone sees this and is thinking of leaving christ plz don't keep praying and repent of your sins and keep moving have the holy spirit lead you not some church.

And by “man-made” does she mean the Biblical record was just made up out of whole cloth? Or that it’s accurate about historical events like the existence of Israel in the Old Testament and the existence of Jesus in the New, but not the miraculous claims?
Not every book in the Bible is an historical account, and there is a wide degree of disagreement, even among Bible-believers, when it comes to inerrancy.
I think we’d need a lot more information on her research before we can comment on her conclusions.
