...if you have small hands like me, I just reached up into the water dispenser, popped off the top two tabs of the flap with my thumb by pushing forward and easily unhinged the bottom of the flap. I pulled it through the dispenser area, pushed through the new flap and positioned it exactly the way it was, hinging the bottom tab first then snapping in the top two tabs very easily. I also used my other hand to guide me through the process by reaching around into the inside of the refrigerator door and down into the ice shoot to give a little pressure for popping in the tabs and keeping the flap in position . Bingo! Done! I did all this with the refrigerator unplugged and the freezer compartment unloaded, just in case it took me longer than expected. Whole time was about 15-20 minutes.
Thanks for the video. You can leave all three connectors attached. With someone else holding the display board, I "unclipped" the set of wires that was "clipped in" which you show at 2:36. Once I did that, person #2 held the display board, and I removed the flapper. After removing the flapper, I wasn't so sure I actually needed a new one even though I had bought a brand new one which I did install. The rubber seal on my refrigerator's original flapper had "slipped" from the bottom of the flapper plastic. I am not sure how that happened since I don't use the ice maker and had turned it off. Anyway thanks again for the video.
Thanks for the great video. You have the same frig as me and I was not sure how one removes the switch panel. Quick and easy to do after watching your video.
Thank you for your reply. I have ordered the parts that you did your video about, and upon further research, I have learned that the black trim piece was not broken...it is not supposed to be a complete circle. I thought it was broken. ;) Hopefully, when we get the parts, we can get it back to working order.
Huge thx!! This was just what I needed to get mine fixed as well!! Amazon had the flapper “new old stock” for just $7.00 on a discounted price.

This is very simple. Unplug fridge from outlet. No need to mess with the breakers, my guy.
Thank you. My brand new fridge came with the clapper missing. I was able to get the part and fix it myself.
Thank you for the easy demo-I was able to fix my own because of your video!
Thank you so much! I just replaced my flap watching your video. What a great time saver!

Great Video, Thanks for sharing the knowledge!
If you soak the original rubber door in some hot water you can return the door back to its original shape.
Ive seen it where the solenoid that automatically opens the door flapper. The arm thats connected to the flapper to open it corrodes sometimes also.
Would this fix the ice not coming through?
Good job
Anyone know if by just spraying some silicone on the spring will make it work?
How do you determine if it is the flapper or the solenoid creating the issue?
When taking off the control panel, you should avoid pulling on the wires- try to grasp the connector itself instead!!
Hey, thanks!
Thanks nice video. It showed me how to replace mine.
Glad I and Paul could help.
What's the part number for the part?
What is the part number or part called that that is up against? The black round rubber piece....
Don't think they sell that part separately so it probably doesn't have a separate part number.
