Tap/peen the spring from the side pushing the front forward like you said only from the side and not the top. It will give you the result you want without a visible ding because the bolsters/liners hide it. You only see it when the blade is in transit. (It's barely noticeable even then). Hope this is helpful.
I’d say 65% of my knives come from eBay. I’ve gotten some that are perfect and I’ve been sent absolute junk with broken springs and completely nasty. I’ve learned who to buy from and who to stay away from. Great video! God bless y’all brother! Praying for Randy!
I have the same exact thing with my Moore maker I just got it has lock rock and I was pissed…… 165 bucks with stag…… and there’s nothing more that I hate than lockrock!!!!! It’s a beautiful knife….. it’s not a lot of lockrock but it’s there I hate to feel any amount of lockrock!!!!! I paid a lot of money for that knife because eBay said brand new in box!!!!! It’s sucks dude I have a video on it….. I just got that knife not that long ago!!!!! Thanks for the heads up man I’m pissed thanks dude
Yeah, it’s weird but that’s how bear and son designs them. I have a factory lock back by them and it also has no kick. But it does look like somebody has ground down too far in that area.
I bought one Moore maker on eBay , and the seller did not mention it was from the sale or a second, until I received the knife and I pointed out flaws in the knife. They should have mentioned up front it was a second in the eBay ad
I have learned to look at their store before I buy on Ebay. You can learn a lot that way. There is one seller I buy from that I can expect to have to do deep cleaning on every knife I buy no matter how good it looks in the pics ... but he sells a lot of rarer knives. Good video and you take care and have a blessed Christmas 🙏
Good video, Aaron. Ebay can be a risky place. While it sucks in other ways, that is one good thing about some companies grinding the tang stamp off of their seconds. Nice tip on fixing the lock issue. This video should serve as a warning for Bear & Son (and others) who batch sell seconds. Those are eventually going to get into circulation. If they are taken as the norm, it will impact how people will view their quality. I often see those listings with the "only 2 left" caption. I've often wondered why they have so many of a new knife. Now I know. Prayers for Randy! Have a great weekend, Aaron!
I'm sure those came from the sale. I went through a ton of knives to find me a perfect one. Lots of people were buying tons of them and saying they sell on eBay. They sale is good for finding a cheap stag or Buffalo horn knife but you really have to check them out.
I bought one used Case knife on eBay like fifteen years ago before China started bring in fake knives. I bought one Buck knife that judging by the price was fake but I wanted to see how it worked out. Ended up giving it to my nephew. Knife was fine short-term but who knows if it would stay sharp
Interesting. I didn’t know that about Bear and Son lock backs. Those grind marks look non factory. But, I’m no expert. Looks like someone like me went to far when trying to get a blade tip to not stick up when folded.😂
Good vid and appreciate the caution...I am sure there are some folks selling personal items, but I also know many are just buying low and selling high on items they acquired just to sell. Always a risk...Praying for Randy and several others in the community...I picked up a wooden tool chest from Harbor Freight for my knives...looks like you have something similar...Did you torch the front panel? Turned out nice...God bless, buddy....Jim
Did you know Queen went out of business in 2018. Smokey Mountain Knife Works bought the patent rights for the logo. SMKW are having knives made by who knows who and stamping them with the Queen logo…. Bought one like you showed with literally no snap when closing…. Sent it back SMKW
I got a moore maker sod buster lock back from deep south cutlery a few weeks ago and I just checked and it has the same blade wobble 😮 I know that I paid top dollar for the knife because it was cheaper on Amazon by $10 what should I do about this knife 😮be safe and GOD BLESS AMERICA 🇺🇸 🙏
Great video, stinks that people pull these stunts on honest buyers. Does make sense if they have a lot of 1 model then they've got them at a highly discounted price to resell. Thanks for sharing!!
Anything to make some money, unfortunately. Don’t get me wrong, these are still great knives, but it could deter someone away from the company if they didn’t know these were originally seconds. Thanks for watching J!
I normally have really good luck with eBay, a big big part of my collection came from eBay, heck I’d rather buy from eBay than from smkw or shepherd hills to be honest, BUT, I do understand what you’re talking about with sellers buying up a bunch and then not disclosing any issues or what have you. So yeah this is a good tip for people. And you’re right about the multiple items, I like to see that there’s only one available on eBay so I know the pics are of the actual knife I’m buying. But with that being said, I’d rather buy from an eBay seller where I can see good pics rather than sight unseen from an online retailer.
Could you use a metal punch to peen out the backside of the blade by the pivot like you were saying? I know you will make them good. Praying for Randy.🙏
I’m a bit concerned now that buying off eBay on these kind of knives is problematic. There is no way to test/examine the knives as photographs won’t do it and once bought you are basically stuck with a “second.” Thank you for the warning and potential fixes. LET THE BUYER BEWARE!
Yea brother, eBay can be a real mixed bag. Always gotta be careful. I just wanted to give the community a few things to maybe look for before hitting that “buy it now” button. Thank you for watching brother!!

I tend to buy from a lot of the same sellers too
I definitely wouldn't be hammering on the blade or spring. Hitting on the blade as you said is hard on the hinge pin.
I have the same exact thing with my Moore maker I just got it has lock rock and I was pissed…… 165 bucks with stag…… and there’s nothing more that I hate than lockrock!!!!! Maybe send it out to someone in the community to peen the end of the blade and or lock. It will snug right up. 🤝
On the yellow Bear and Son knife, the reason the edge was hitting that spot down in the knife because the blade has no kick.
Yeah, it’s weird but that’s how bear and son designs them. I have a factory lock back by them and it also has no kick. But it does look like somebody has ground down too far in that area.
I have a few disappointing Bear/Moore knives I got on WhatNot, I knew they were from the big sale but the sellers did not point out the flaws.

You’re right, doing a little research on a seller can really save you time and money!
Thank you for watching and Merry Christmas!
Good info. Whole lot of Remington seconds left that sale too.
Oh I bet they did! I’ve seen a few in videos actually

Exactly! Great point about the tang stamp grinds…you always know it was second
Awesome video, my man! As always they are informative and honest! Thank you for putting this valuable information out there brother! Good on ya'!!
I’m glad you’re finding them somewhat informative 😆! Thanks for watching brother!!
Aaron - Thanks for the heads up on those. The little things do make a difference on the performance, fit, and finish. Thanks for sharing!! Jim
You're welcome, Jim! Always happy to help out.
Thanks for the heads up Aaron never really thought about it definitely will now great video
You’re welcome, I’m glad you liked the video!

Which kind of sucks cause that could give the maker a bad name if the new buyer doesn’t know they were seconds to begin with
This is a very good video brother! Thanks for your honesty and warning. It’s very helpful. God bless you!
Thank you for watching brother! I’m glad you found it helpful!
Thank you for the warning and advice about knives on EBay. 🙏prayers for Randy🙏
Thank you! 🙏

Would be cool to know if your nephew used it much…or if he still has it
Great time . Thank you for sharing!
You bet brother!! Heading over now to check out that Catteraugus!!
Looks like the kick on that Bear & son was ground down flat. Could that be why the blade was hitting the spacer?
What’s funny, is that B&S actually grind the kicks flat on their large lockbacks. Now I guess they could’ve ground it just a little too flat.
Interesting. I didn’t know that about Bear and Son lock backs. Those grind marks look non factory. But, I’m no expert. Looks like someone like me went to far when trying to get a blade tip to not stick up when folded.😂

I’m glad you got that tool chest, Jim…it should be the same one I have. I had to do a little something to make mine stand out on video 😂
Thanks for the info!

Yea I did know…Bear & Son is making them for SMKW
Thanks for the pointers! I think most of us buy from eBay, I know buy quite a few, and I’ve been burned a couple times
I know what you mean. Gotta be careful on there. Thank you for watching!

They stocked up at the Bear sale. I purchased knives there at the sale too. Mentioned knives costed 10-15 dollars there.
Great video, stinks that people pull these stunts on honest buyers. Does make sense if they have a lot of 1 model then they've got them at a highly discounted price to resell. Thanks for sharing!!

You bet! Hope it was helpful!
Good lookin out. Have to be vigilant. I just did a video recently re: buying USA made knifes on EBay. Take care and prayers for Randy.
I'll have to head over and check your video out!
What is the ring you're wearing on your index finger? I like the oval shape of it.
I wish I could remember where I got it. But it’s a take on the skull and crossbones, but the crossbones are guitars 🤘
@@AWCustomDesigns Cool!! Thanks for the reply.
