Hi you're correct with your Weimar Republic Police bayonet. Although everyone refers to these things as "dress bayonets" they aren't, they were worn by the Policeman on duty as a mark of his authority. Also the cross guard is not made of Aluminium, it is solid brass (as is the hilt and clam shell) with a nickel plating over it...
Finding a rare original German dress bayonet at a Flea market?! Wow! Absolute golden find for $15,- Patrick. May have been brought home by an US soldier after WWII.
@@ukaszsikorski6728 Yea it was common for U.S. GIs to bring back knives, helmets, guns and foreign medals and such. Blood thirsty Soviets brought home currency, jewelry and of course raped EVERY woman, girl and small boy in their path. Often this was done with the approval and even the participation of their officers. U.S. forces prosecuted and even shot rapists and criminals in uniform. Just one small example of why German troops and civilians fought so hard to get to U.S. controlled territory to surrender to American troops. Soviets were animals and based on their conduct in the Ukrainian war not much has changed.
I get burned every now and then. In an upcoming video I buy a shotgun with a crack at the end of the barrel 🙃 . But I plan on cutting it down so it doesn't split even more. Stay tuned!
Don't be too jealous, most of the guns you run across at flea markets are priced higher than what you could buy the same thing for at a shop, or they're complete junk, or both.
it's a pre-WWII clamshell dress bayonet. The hole in the center of the stag grip would have had an eagle crest similar to the "clamshell". Would have been used for a Civil Service employee like Customs or Railroad. Probably worth in the neighborhood of $600 to $800.
Mint find brother. Best wishes and Happy holidays to you and your granny. She sounds like a sweet woman. Take care Chief. Look forward to the next video.
Another great Flea Market video Patrick. Heck of a deal for sure. You know I'm always rooting for Grand Ma. Hoping today's comment finds you in good health with a smile on your face. Take care brother. Many blessings.
Thanks Kevin! The days have been good here lately, I'm finally going to have some arrowhead footage coming soon! These last few weeks have been AWESOME! I hope you're in good spirits bro! Hopefully 2025 is a good year!
@@TheChiefSmokem Nice !!! I'll be looking forward to viewing. Yes Sir on 2025. We need some relief from what Biden did to us all. Happy New Year brother.
Stag handles are worth 20. Looks like a German police bayonet. It would have a wreath and Nazi eagle in the middle of the stag grips if it was WWII. It does look like something was mounted there. Condition is rough for picky collectors (so don't sell to one), but probably rare enough not to matter as much. Especially with the clamshell device.
En France on ne trouve pas souvent d'objets de ce genre, c'est même très rare, on trouve beaucoups d'armes, enormément de baionnettes et de casque, il y en a encore beaucoups de cachés dans les rivières ou chez des fermiers.
Hey man I believe you scored pretty well, you could easily get a few nice lever action rifles for your find. Good job chief keep on hunting for them treasures. You have a safe and healthy new year’s brother.
@TheChiefSmokem Can't wait to see what you've found, man !! Heck, It don't matter to me, I'd just assume watch a good flea market show !! 😄👍 I do love the arrowheads though.. ✌️🍀⛏️⛏️
That's a very nice German bayonet. You didn't get hurt there. Keep it put up. Look what they sell on Ebay for. It has the frog sheath with it...😮 Great picking
I have a ceremonial bayonet made after WWII on the original machine shop equipment found by British military. Kershaw knife company commissioned to have made an equal number of the four different animal heads on the hilt made. Bear, Eagle, Boar and I forget the fourth one. Mine is on a red velvet like material sprayed over foam molded to hold the blade in the display case. My dad picked up three of them when he was with Kershaw / Kai Cutlery.
Great bayonet find!! 😮👍 Just a suggestion is that when handling any firearm, always open the action to check that it's unloaded. Never trust that the owner has cleared it. Happy new year Chief Smokem 😊
The interesting thing is with the bayonet is even though the guy didnt know what it was if he had "put an edge on it" it would have virtually destroyed any value it had left, shame its missing its hilt emblem though
The guy on UA-cam War Story seems to be really knowledgeable and if he doesn't know about that being that he will definitely know somebody he can turn you on to who does seems like a really nice guy
Chief my man! Mediocre? How about BEST! I was amazed by the find and knew what you had! I have the matching helmet and some accessories that would have gone with it. Yeah living down south you have a much better selection of old stuff vs up North. Way to go! Keep the great vids rollin!
With a rare jewel like that it mite be worth finding the middle piece thats missing and have it put back on,it mite not mske it worth alot more but it would be complete.🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 theres some flowers for granny.
weimar police eaglehead bayonet, i beleve the dress bayonet had gold inlays with a pompon and was given to higher ranks and used with the Parade uniforms. There was also one with a lions head instead of eagle.

I was thinking that as well! If it could only talk! I'm proud to own such an awesome piece!

This knive was once STOLEN in Germany. That´s all you´ve to know.
Every time I think I've found a treasure like that I wind up paying prime price and it turns out to be a Joe Dirt meteor.
Me too, starting to think these youtubers are making stories up for views

Chief smokem Shhhh don't say that you're gonna cut a shotgun publicly lol love your videos man wish I had a flea market around where I live like that

Bayonet just like it on e-bay right now for $1,295. Good find!
it's a souvenier, it wasn't in battle, it wasn't unique to military personnel. It's nice but has no wartime significance.
Great find! You deserve it, you're a real cool cat. Love the granny shout out!

The old man liked that old German stuff.I bet he would have snatched that one up.Grand ma smokems painting is awsome.
I wonder what he was asking for his bayonet he used for comparison? No doubt hundreds of dollars.
Oh you know it! He had to jump high and fast when he was with me! I remember beating him to a stag handled case knife and he was salty 😂👌

What a find!
The knife was worn with a pair of leather pants( shorts) with suspenders! It is German. I have seen one in the Black Forrest.
Nice find!
The interesting thing is with the bayonet is even though the guy didnt know what it was if he had "put an edge on it" it would have virtually destroyed any value it had left, shame its missing its hilt emblem though
Right! Glad he didn't put an edge on it! We both didn't have a clue what it was!
It wouldn't have destroyed the value but he would have taken hundreds of dollars off it.
