Simplicity is the truth. I've been natural for almost 8 years. Medium flat twists and mini twists are my go-to styles. I don't wear my natural hair down unless it's straight. When in a natural state it dries out pretty fast and gets tangled very easily. I also stopped washing my hair weekly 4 years ago. I now wash bi-weekly or every 3-4 weeks. Keeping my hair stretched and protective styling has been such a game-changer in my natural hair journey.

So glad you touched on texture acceptance, this is key to having a beautiful hair journey. Setting our own beauty standards and not what society tells us to look like has profound impact on self-love. Also with detangling, our hair wants to intermingle and that's ok.

Love this. I also think the UA-cam world and beyond needs to touch on length acceptance. Let’s stop obsessing over length and holding “waist length hair” on a pedestal as a prize to be won. Love the hair care, but we can’t say that a body part that has been maintained with “antibacterial oils,” but has not been washed for 1mo+ is clean..simply for the sake of achieving long hair. It’s like saying because I’ve used hand sanitizer for a month instead of washing my hands, they are still just as clean. I truly do get it, for all the valid reasons mentioned, but it’s also strange when you step back and think about it. I just have so many mixed thoughts when I watch videos like this. I love it but I also cringe at the length emphasis. It’s like hearing models talk about how they maintain extreme skinniness. It’s like perpetuating a certain standard of beauty but also like giving healthy tips! Overall love it..just sharing some food for thought! ❤

I wash my hair once a month, but cleanse my scalp once a week during retwisting..I do not detangle until wash day..when I detangle, I use my DIY Rosemary oil and I also message my scalp with it..let it sit in my hair with plastic bags, scarf and bonnet to generate heat..then shampoo, deep condition..afterward moisturize using the LCO method and retwist my hair..saying it seems like a lot..lol..but my routine is very simple..Happy Hair Growing❤

At bra strap, hopefully to be full bra strap by December. I’m a lazy hair person always have been and the longest my hair has ever been is waist length. I don’t do much unless I get a sewn in , but being herein Japan I just wear a wig.

@@antoinettechingangu425 I get that Egyptian cotton is super comfortable and soft but it's the fabric itself - cottton - that absorbs the products in your hair and thereby strips it of moisture. Satin/Silk is non-absorbent even when it comes to skin products.

I ask because there isnt much manipulation happening, its just wash, deep condition and LOC? No detangling. Genes have to do with texture, straight, curly, coily, etc. Nothing unique or exciting here, just regurgitating stuff that's already been said.
