This is a fantastic fragrance.
African Leather by @memo.paris This fragrance opens with cardamom and is accompanied by other spices of cumin and saffron before touching on a flowery geranium, the earthy patchouli and the woody oud. The scent dries down with leather and musk. I love wearing this one and I'm excited to share this.

Don't let the name trick you into thinking this has a strong or pungent odor only a niche aficiado would like. This is an amazingly good fragrance; soft, warm, sensual.

For years I avoided African Leather thinking it's one more leather with something fragrance and I had a lot of letherish frags.
By some crazy situation and I was like Ok let's try. 😮😮😮 was in love from 1st spray!

Yep, their entire 'leather' range is exceptional; the only one that I haven't fallen in love with is Sicilian Leather....have you had a chance to test this one? It drys down too 'bitter' for me.

I've just seen a great offer on Memo African Leather so did a quick UA-cam search and up popped your glowing review. I have a decant of the fragrance that I've been testing out. I honestly wasn't expecting much as it was a scent I had often seen mentioned yet I had simply dismissed. I had it in my head that I just wouldn't like it. That was until a few months ago when I finally got my sample and now after testing it I'm hooked. I've seen it compared to Xerjoff Ivory Route (which I own) and can see some similarities albeit not overly so.
If you recall, I had mentioned several months ago about not liking Megamare however after revisiting a few days ago its definitely growing on me. The exact same thing happened with Amouage Journey Man (which I now own) and Ganymede which I hated at first but now love and would consider purchasing. I had initially picked up a headache inducing curry smell (probably from the immortelle) but on revisiting it smells completely different. I now get a classy and sophisticated blend of notes. So you were right, my nose has changed over time lol.
Very much looking forward to your plans for 2023 including new content and concepts.

@@TheNicheFragranceCollector Cheers Marcelo. I went ahead and ordered African Leather today (in fact just 20mins ago). I got it for £163 which I think is a great price. There goes my discipline again lol. I have been rather good this month but as I said previously, I wasn't expecting to be bowled over by it and then to see it on offer.
i bought it yes its smells unique amazing but doesnt project and not even last long
I sample it today and I felt like I smelled it before or have it in my collection but after checking fragrantica I found out that it smelled like “ l’air du désert marocain which I sampled over 10 years ago lol

@@TheNicheFragranceCollector I'll let you know what I think when the samples arrive. Which would you say is better Amouage journeyman or black iris? I heard both have a spicy/woody sort of tone with incense but I don't know yet. My local shop does have black iris so I can ar least try it there
An update on it the samples arrived today. I wasn't too sure about journeyman to be honest as it reminded me of something from penhaligon's which I wasn't too big on. As for the African leather I did have to give it a couple of minutes but I do really like it but I do think it's definitely a autumn/winter fragrance.

Hey Khaled, I love that your number one is Italian...totally agree with you. Love wearing this one; it's so unique. Have you tried Russian? This would be my No.2, wear it all year round.
African is primarily a cooler weather fragrance for me...those spicey/ambery notes lend themselves to those cool days and evenings.
What about you?

This is the most amazing bright, aromatic with herbal qualities leather fragrance....I can't get enough; wearing nearly everyday. It's totally amazing (I need to shine a light on this one). I've been wearing it here in Melbourne, we've just hit spring and it's been perfect

Hey Evan, firstly I wouldn't put Aventus and either African or Russian in the same category. Aventus is an Aromatic Fougere, these guys are more Dry Woods. Between African and Russian I prefer African....but you should try on you and see what resonates with you. Lastly, I would go directly to www.memoparis.com ....they're currently out of stock of the 200ml, but hey you can start on the 75ml 😬....good luck my brother!

I don't. It's listed as one of the notes but for me the spicy leather is the clear scent profile I detect....but like you mentioned, maybe it's purposely hidden....it's there to support the composition and not to take centre stage🤔

@@TheNicheFragranceCollector May be its Lavender + incense + spices at the top giving a very foul smell but your other recommended Xerjoff Torino 21 was fantastic.
@munishprabhakarify yep maybe that’s what it could be…? I do know that lavender done in an overdose way can become quite polarizing. Good thing that you tested first rather than buying a full bottle!
