@@thehonestwatchdealer Totally! I personally also would say people should look at them in person. In my opinion the black one looks like a solid watch on photos, but really KILLS it in person! Love how the dials are shiny, adds that extra elegance thats not always evident when just looking at them on photos.

Really enjoy your videos, you give good honest sound content and advice about the watch hobby, I bought a Panda (2016) in 2018, used two years old, full set in good condition and paid $19,000, I just fell in love with the mirror ceramic bezel on top of that white dial, I never imagined it would command the prices it does now and so comfortable on the wrist although a bit hard to read with my senior eyes but looking at it makes you smile!

My 1999 Zenith Panda has done nothing but go up in price since the day I brought it home from the dealer! I think it is about a 7 bagger at this point!
I have chosen to have the black dial first, as my daily watch, while I am planning to buy the white dial later for collection.
I didn’t think I would but I just got the black one from my AD and I’m obsessed! 🤩

Great Video Charlie . I love both. And wouldn't mind either one. But the panda for me has a slight edge.
I was born in 1963 So the Daytona has been on my list for a while.

@@986CThat is just the nickname given to it. Just like the green submariners are called… Starbucks, Hulk, and Kermit. You also have the Pepsi, Root beer, Batman, Batgirl, etc., given to other Rolex’s. Just the way it is.
My kid brother passed away on 10 January this year and left me among other things his lovely watch collection of which his Rolex Daytona panda was the crowning glory and that's the reason I'm watching these video's, doesn't matter to me what it's worth as I don't wear it and will never sell it, just pleased my brother had such exquisite taste. PS I wear my old Seiko 5 sports watch more befitting of my station in life.

I’d take the black for sure, both look ace though. I had a two tone Daytona BMoP that I sold. Only used the stop watch function once to time the dog going for a dump in the garden and back again during a thunderstorm :)

I had the black ceramic first, sold it two weeks later for white and never looked back. In a perfect world having both would be best. I will say though the white ceramic is a different ball game than the black.

Totally agree. White dial Daytona looked way too small on the wrist and respectfully more feminine. I ended up getting the black dial at retail. I’m still on waiting list for white dial, not for me but my wife. It looks amazing on her.

I honestly don’t think anyone would take their Rolex to either dive (submariner) or running for the stopwatch function. My problem with Daytona is it looks very busy, but the white dial is beautiful tho

Both are great. Panda for me but if the AD calls me offering me a black one, I’d be there picking up before we hang up. Lol. I actually own the Panda but I paid secondary market price for it.

Panda Daytona is No.1 and if that’s unaffordable get the look at a fraction of the price with the Tudor BB Baytona(you even get the date:)

Both are beautiful but I chose the black dial. The Panda, no doubt is cool but it’s more common and I believe the black is slightly more classy. It’s great on a leather strap too

I'm fairly new to watch collecting. I have a Rolex Yacht Master 40 w/Bright Blue dial and just got a Daytona, two tone, black dial with diamonds. How easy are those to get and how popular is that Daytona model?
The Yacht-Master I have covered in other videos. The Daytona is a stunning model and very sought after 👍🏻

I chose white dial with steel bezel or two tone with Gold Bezel and white Dial . I just dont get why they put Ceramic bezel on a high end watch . IMHO
Steel and Gold white dial yes, and the pre ceramic is such a nice watch but more an old school look. The ceramic in my opinion is a better looking model as it has a more modern and sporty look 🙌🏼
Absolute beauts. My only issue (personally) is they wear too small. That is the fault of me ;-) not the watch. I prefer the Pre-ceramic on the Black dial, I have the 116520. I think the Black on White of the Ceramic Panda works perfectly. Great vid as always mate!

Picked up a solid white gold Daytona today with black and diamond dial from an AD. Just walked in a asked if they had anything available and they offered it to me. I had 0 spend history with this shop 🥳

I can’t believe what you just said about people calling because the second hand is not working referring to the chronograph, that tells you that people only buy Daytona’s to say the have one but actually don’t know anything about watches, how can you buy a Daytona for who knows how much without knowing how a chronograph works??.

I have the panda and honestly I can’t tell the time without my glasses, my eye sight not that bad, fine with my sub. Very busy dial, pointless complication, extremely expensive prefer my sub by far.
When I make my first million I'm buying a 116518LN Rolex. Looks amazing.

Honestly, the white one. Not because it is necessarily so much better, but because I have so many black dial watches in my collection.

Black is way better, sorry man it’s true. I’ve owned both multiple times always trying to prefer the Panda due to collectibility, just can’t do it. The white dial is broken up by the black ceramic bezel making it appear smaller, it’s also a bit dainty or cartoonish when compared to the stealth Darth Vader-looking black variant 💯

Nice watches for sure, but my cell phone has a clock on it which keep pretty accurate time. Plus I can make calls and surf the internet.
This is true and you can also get an Apple Watch that does this too … but they are not a beautifully crafted Rolex 🏆

The Panda is more sporty and maybe a bit more feminine as well. The black one is a bit more elegant. I would say I prefer the black one, and for a panda, maybe I would chose a Black Bay Chrono.
White dial because it is easier to read the sub-dials.

Two points:
1. I believe it does NOT hurt anything to leave the chrono constantly running.
2. To me, the white dial (Panda) appears LARGER on the wrist than the black dial.
I don't know which one to choose, but I finally purchased the black dial because it cost less.

I disagree I don't think leaving on the stop watch Has wear and tear on the watch. Where do you get your information because these watches are used to being beat up. Wait you only have 8k subs.

My wrist is 7 inches mate! Can wear a little small due to the imbalance of the shoulders but the new reference has more balance! I’d suggest trying one on before you buy 🙌🏻

Ok, I've heard people say the white dial wears larger, and some people say the black dial wears larger. Apparently it's not as black and white (🤪) as some people try to make it out to be. I think the black dial wears larger.

I was looking for a retirement gift for myself and started looking at the Daytona. I was surprised how small the Daytona looked on my wrist, and I don't have big wrists. Not to mention how impossible the watch is to get at an AD.
Congratulations on your retirement. If you look at the Oysterflex range for the Daytona they look and wear much bigger. Hope this helps 👍🏻

Back in the 90’s my dad bought the black face for my brother and the white face for myself, they’re still brand new in the box never worn, wonder what the value is by now

Incredible but the Daytona does nothing for me, but that goes for all chrinographs. Every chrono I had is eventually gone. Simply do not enjoy the subdials and pointy extra buttons. Also do not like the tachymetre scale instead of a diving bezel.
Sure they are not to everyone’s taste but I do have to say most. There are plenty of models to choose to suit 👍🏻

The 116528 Tahitian mother of pearl all yellow gold in my opinion is the nicest Daytona. Very rare dial. The john Mayer and the panda overrated

En cadran noir le nouveau modèle 126500 .. il n’y a pas d’équivalent … les sub dials apportent une finesse et une sublime harmonie au cadran .. en panda blanc … je trouve qu’elle est fade car à l’inverse elle a moins de caractère que le panda 116500 plus agressive et déjà bien plus inconique

Nah, there are many better options for black dial watch in Rolex. The black Daytona is just so illegible and crowdy. But the white one is so clean and one of its kind. Good distinctive contrast.

Everyone is entitled to their champion model and for you it is the Explorer ( I would guess for its simplicity) but for me it is the goat … The Daytona 🏆👍🏻

@@cookingwithwatches Yes and no .. he was supercool so would always be a trend setter and people will copy and emulate. The Platona is an unbelievable watch 👊🏻 and so is the steel Daytona both in their own right… we love them and so do the majority of watch people to be fair ☄️🤓
Nice video. Honestly at this point I wouldn't wear a Rolex in public if you have it to me for free. Only to sell for a Vacheron Overseas or a Grand Seiko. Their AD system is obnoxious. The movements are unremarkable. The "flex culture" of people who can only tell what the price on Chrono 24 and literally nothing more not something I saw coming. And if you consider a mass produced luxury item to be an investment you need to a sit down with a CFA or CFP.
All that being said the Daytona is the only Rolex that has consistently not result in a immediate haircut (the one many people who bought into the 2021-2022 Rolex bubble are taking now) the minute you walk out of an AD. The Daytona is the only current Rolex that has the design aesthetic that reminds you of what Rolex used to be when they made outstanding dials like those featured in John Goldberger's 100 Superlative Rolex book. Otherwise overpriced tool watch dials.
The Vacheron Overseas is such a nice watch and I agree the Rolex AD system is heavily flawed.
The Daytona is for me and always will be the outright champion and the best model in the Rolex range 🏆
