What a great little project, I'd be tempted to stick a mot on it and enjoy it until the winter, then restro it during the winter months.but its your call.
Your exhaust is correct for your car but the rear subframe you sourced is off a slightly older model hence why the mounts don't marry up. The carb engine cars and injection engine cars have slight differences all over
MOT first to see what needs doing, then drive it for the summertime and then full restoration over the Autumn/Winter months, especially get rid of those over sills, they really are bad news on a Classic Mini! but a great find for just £500 pounds, the A series engine sounds really sweet and that just goes to show what great little Icons these Classic Mini's are. Good luck with the restoration, can't wait to see the end result! Another Classic Mini saved ❤😄
Can not believe it was only £500 what a absolute bargin she sounds sweet as a nut.Ive had about 6 minis back in the day from an 850 to a 1340 which was a quick car.As most have said I'd try the mot first if it needs a bit of work id get it done and enjoy it mate.Get it in the garage in the winter and resto it then.Cant wait to see how she works out.Keep up the great and well done for keeping her out of the scrap yard.
Great episode mate lots of bits sorted. Car sounds mint engine wise 😁. Good old British mechanic give it a wack to fix it 😂😂😂. Treat yourself to a pop up gazebo mate 👍🏻👍🏻
Good results on all the work in this video. Electrical stuff is my shortcoming in cars -especially since the advent of ECUs. Before all the sensors etc I had half a chance of fixing things, now if the OBD scanner doesn’t tell me, it’s usually a headache. I’d say put it in for an MOT just to see what it needs and if it passes (or with an easy fix or two) then run it for a bit while you are on the other cars, just to get a feel for what it will need. If it fails on quite a bit of work then don’t get into it if you are going to strip it down, anyway. Just note what’s needed and get everything else out of the way before getting into the Mini. The danger with MOTing it and driving it is that it removes the incentive to tear it apart and get on with it and you find yourself selling it on to someone who sees it and makes an offer. Which is fine if you’re okay with it, I guess, but I think it would rob the channel of a good series. Just my thoughts. 👍🏻
Thank you yes I totally agree! I'll take it for the MOT but if it fails badly then I've got my answer haha. Yes I could mot it and sell it for a tidy profit but I've restored a few in the past and there not too bad to do, thank you I really appreciate the suggestions!
I’ve done a few myself many years ago - before they had cats and ECUs, though. That just seems wrong on a Mini. Wish I still had my ‘75 pickup. My dad had two pickups, ‘71 and a ‘78 for his business over the years. He was annoyed when they stopped making them and he ended up with a Hyundai Pony pickup instead. Probably not many of those left over there now, either.
Great job, looking forward to watching you progress with this one. I'd like to have a couple of weeks blatting about in it before restoration but i'll be watching whatever you decide.
It's totally up to buddy me personally would restore it if you have the time . Get on with your moggy 1000 cover the mini and go back to it. All mini,s are worth restoring.
mot it run it for a few months, have some fun with it , they must be thousands of mini in garages and barn under restoration that will never get finished
You can't do much stripping and fettling until the Morris is finished. There's plenty of other stuff to be getting on with. Thank you for this episode.
I got it from a scrap car yard they collected from a garage where the old owner dint pay his bill so they scrapped the car, I did ask him if he gets anything like this in again to give me a call, I'll let you know if I ever hear anything
Waste of £50 MOTing that Mini, I am unqualified and can tell it is not roadworthy so just get it fixed first then you will know it is right and not going to fail under those fake sills while you are "blatting about".
Get it roadworthy, have some fun in it over the summer while you work on other projects then strip it over the winter. I would.
Sounds like a plan 👍
@@cashmachinecars I second this!
Full restore but not a bad idea to try an mot it an have a bit of fun in it before hand love a old mini..
Saving any Mini is a major win for any car enthusiast, good work mucker keep moving
Thank you I'm definitely finding a lot of work to do on it!

Thank you! Great idea!! 👍
MOT, then fun then restore! Can’t beat a Mini for smiles per mile! Keep up the good work mate👍
Thanks, will do!

AHH I see thank you very much for letting me know this! I'll have to find another way of mounting it to the subframe!

Thanks Jason!
Glad you pointed out the over sills and plan to remove them one day. Just finishing the welding on mine, cover sills made a right mess!
Yea they aren't great, you'll see in the next video that the shell is not in a great shape 😬
Amazing work getting her back running on her own steam. Great little cars. Love the videos.
Thanks Micky! 👍

Great episode mate lots of bits sorted. Car sounds mint engine wise 😁. Good old British mechanic give it a wack to fix it 😂😂😂. Treat yourself to a pop up gazebo mate 👍🏻👍🏻
