I played this game non stop from launch day for about a year. Was absolutely blown away, as someone who had to Sit through so many mediocre DBZ games it felt like such a win and a celebration for every DB Fan wether Classic, Z Super or GT
No, it's embarrassing. Now I know why he and my brother are bad at games by default. I always beat his friends in every game as well, and I really think it's partly because they're not calm enough when playing.
This game is INCREDIBLE. It’s in my top 10 games of all time. It’s why I got into Dragon Ball. The mechanics are easy to understand and even when you get into the complexities of the fighting mechanics it still is easy to pick up. The animations are beautiful too I really hope we get a second game soon.
It's still the best one so far rating-wise and newest natural storyline up to date version of its anime material. Not to mention one of the top two or three best fighting games in history 🤣😂.
I distinctly remember when this game came out. I was looking forward to a new marvel vs capcom game so bad and mvc infinite let me down so much and fighterz was the mvc we wanted basically but with dragonball characters lol. Its crazy how much stuff has been added. This was the kind of DB fighting game i always wanted.
I really wished we got a MK aftermath style story mode to take advantage of the new characters, I actually liked the main story mode was just refreshing to get something that does not retread the old ground
Ever since I first experienced Dragon Ball Z Budokai, I have been praying for this type of Dragon Ball fighting game since 1999, especially due to my love for the Marvel vs Capcom series. This game is everything I could have ever asked for from a Dragon Ball fighting game! I just wish they would have added more stages, because they have visited many more areas than what's in the game
Pretty good video, but I just wanna clarify that they DID NOT put rollback netcode in. They announced rollback over a year ago and consistently went dark on updates about it. Everytime they would announce updates for the game, they would also delay rollback alongside it, and then go dark for the next 6 months. Unfortunately because of this, the game is at the lowest point it's ever been at. It's not necessarily a dead game, but alot of people, including me, are putting the game on the back burner and waiting for rollback, because this game has TERRIBLE netcode.
This game was a game you had to commit to, you either learn to get rolled over to start fighting back. I’m a day 1 player who got all the way to angel rank, moved to smash bros for about a year, came back and got stomped out so heavy lol😂 this game is unforgivable. But I still love it,
Nothing will ever live up to the love i have for the Dragon Ball Budokai and Tenkaichi games. I TRIED to love Fighterz but the missing iconic characters and lack of many fun solo / side content they had even back then kills it for me
The PS4/Xbox One version of DBFZ isn't getting the rollback update. They announced a while ago that for now only the PC version will have rollback and there is a PS5/Xbox Series version being released with the rollback update
Would have preferred a 2v2 format with unique supers for the team you picked (like X-Men vs Street Fighter had) and wished they would have added Beast Gohan, but overall this game is hands down the best looking fighter of all time and deserves a spot in the top 5 for gameplay, probably even top 3.
As a former competitive DBFZ player, the current patch has persuaded me to drop the game. It’s just so dumb how unbalanced it is, which has never stopped me before, but in addition to the balancing issues, I simply don’t find the game fun anymore. Perhaps if they update the net code I’ll return to it.
I agree with the story mode and similar love for Budokai 2. For me it's relaxing while still enjoyable with the narrative and character interactions while being a unique story with the ability to choose your party for each battle.
I hate team fighting games but this one is my favorite. I hope next game that transforming is a main mechanic since almost everyone has at least one. Could possibly save money on dlc but im sure they'll find a way to make theirs
It's the best proper fighting game in the franchise. But my favorites are the open 3D arena ones, with the gameplay basically centered around the fan service of trying to make you feel like you're in a fight from the shows. This one was good in that it could appeal to non-DBZ-fan gamers.
I bought the game on PS4 when it first came out and maybe due to Dragonball fatigue I couldn’t get into it. Last year I saw it on the Nintendo store for £10 and thought well that’s a steal I’ll get it and maybe start, a year later I finally started last week and I. Am. Hooked! My god this game is amazing!
So I’ve been watchinn you’re videos for the past two days mate really loving the content I was wondering, any chance you could do a review of Dragon Quest? Specifically DragonQuest 8 for the PS2, I’d love to see that.
The story mode character interactions were freakin hilarious and Android 21 is one of the best things to happen in Dragon Ball for me cuz of art reasons, but that gameplay was god awful…I’m taking ZERO difficulty. Due to online being a “true fighting game” it’s what either makes or breaks this the best DBZ game to the player because you either “get good” or “skill issue” and after 2000 hours played since day one. I chose to learn how to play the game lol
DBFZ is easily my favorite fighting game, no matter how flawed it may be. I'm still consistently playing it ever since launch. Slight correction Matty. While DBFZ has gotten Rollback announced, it still hasn't released yet. We haven't even gotten a beta either. Something we're still all waiting for. Still loved the video.
In a post-Budokai / Tenkaichi 3 world, how is it acceptable to ship a Dragon Ball fighting game with such a small roster, then put the rest of the characters behind a paywall?
Cant compare a Budokai or Tenkaichi character to FighterZ. Those former games are very shallow while FigtherZ each character has alot more depth and thought put into them. You can either have quantity or quality. I prefer the latter.
@@daniellee-poy3371 You have a point, however, prior to FighterZ, no one was asking why Dragon Ball didn’t have a presence in the competitive fighting scene. As great a game as it is, I would rather have fan service than an EVO-ready fighting game where 70% of the full roster is locked behind a paywall. It’s more of a commentary about how anti-consumer these practices are, and how out-of-touch developers are with fans. Nobody but games journalists complained about the Budokai/Tenkaichi series’ lacking depth. The fans just want to see their favorite characters pummeling each other.
@@Bananeurysm At that point you have games like DBZ Kakarot, Xenoverse and the announced Tenkaichi 4 for the more casual player. I don't see an issue having both because clearly with FighterZ 10 million copies sold its safe to say that many people love the game. In the FGC that year it was a phenomenon to finally have a competent DBZ fighting game that it had the most viewership and contestants. Traditional Fighting games don't usually have all the characters because it takes time, effort and money. FighterZ as you said is a competitive fighter so what goes into each new character takes a lot of development. Do I like paying more money to unlock characters? No. But do I like my game to be supported for years to come? Yes. If you don't like the game not launching with all its characters then wait for the complete edition.
@@daniellee-poy3371 Here’s what I see is happening here. I’m offering criticism of these tactics that are not only anti-consumer, but also carry an air of spite towards the fan base, and you’re hearing, “the game is bad.” It isn’t. It’s a very well made fighting game. However, when you compare to the similarly-competent competitive fighter, MK11, you’ll see that the DLC characters do not equal almost half of the full roster, most of them are there for fun, and even the ones who hail from earlier entries aren’t fan-favorite mainstays despicably put on digital marketplaces to siphon the money out of your account. Dragon Ball has millions of fans all over the world, who love dozens upon dozens of these characters, with a great deal of fan favorites being paid DLC. It’s shady. And again, IT IS NOT A BAD GAME. Criticism exists so you can say, “this is pretty good, but it can be better.” If you believe in spending well over the standard $60 just for a “complete” game, not a collectors edition, cool. I’m glad the current business model works for you. I don’t like the idea of spending that much on a mere fighting game. I’m not wholly against DLC, if the content is significant enough to warrant the purchase. But almost half the roster? HALF? If the base roster was 3/4 or even 2/3 of the way there, we wouldn’t be debating the pros and cons of digital robbery. MK gets a pass because the extra characters don’t necessarily impact one’s overall enjoyment, but also, they only bring the roster from 25 to 37. Compared to going from 24 to 44, you don’t feel like you’re missing out on as much, and therefore, feel less obligated to spend more money. Once again (I have to be sure this is understood), I’m not saying it’s a bad game. They’re trying to bring the fighting game community into Dragon Ball, and perhaps vise versa. Yet when you the fan base is conditioned to expect ~100 characters per release, regardless of the quality of the mechanics, we’re gonna feel cheated. Period. It has its rightful place in the pantheon of great fighting games, but when people think back to their favorite DBZ game, it’s still gonna be one that allows the fans to live out their fantasies. It’s a Dragon Ball game for fans of Street Fighter first, and fans of Dragon Ball second.
I'm waiting for the game to go on sale since I have 10$ left on my Nintendo account. Should I get it bow, or should I get it later? I know about Fighterz since it's the highest rated dragon ball game ever, and I'm planning on getting it.
Before I even start this video, literally at the beginning n it's paused rn, dragon ball fighterz this the greatest dragon ball fighting game of all time, Before I even start this
Just found this video. Is there still an active community for this game? I bought it (and the DLC) way back when when it all came out... but life happened and I haven't logged in in yeaaaaars.
This makes you wish your favorite action anime / manga would have a game like this. Imagine Bleach, Naruto, or even Demon Slayer like this. Heck, I feel like One Piece would be the best series to go to next. 😭
1:07 all the updates aren’t done and Rollback still isn’t in the game.. wtf you taking about? Lol. PS5 and Series X/S versions are still coming. Along with the Rollback update
I just want to drop a comment to mention how marvellously talented you are as a youtuber. I've been subbed for a few months now and you've become one of those guys I get excited for when a new video drops. Ps; its because of your hype for the Fallout series that I'm playing Fallout for the first time, I've just bought Fallout 3 for my steam deck, and will be starting it once I finish Starfield 👍
It's a great game, and I've put a lot of hours into it, but at the end of the day I don't feel like I'm playing a dragon ball game, i feel like I'm playing a fighting game with dragon ball characters. The budokai games especially the Tenkaichi games felt like they were built from the ground up as dragon ball games, this one is pretty obviously using a pre existing fighting system tweaked to fit the series. Then the roster is fairly small, with an additional paywall to get characters like saiyan saga Vegeta and base form goku. Having 21 and both ss blue characters be unlockable in game was nice, but everyone else you have to pay real money for. There's also no alternate costumes, only color swaps, and no character variations that aren't paid dlc and those are only for goku and vegeta. No caped piccolo, no maajin vegeta, no base form for trunks, gohan or gotenks, no kid gohan at all, no super buu, no raditz, only one form for cell and frieza...etc. Not being able to transform during battle really hurts this game imo. The gameplay and presentation are stellar, but everything else is honestly pretty underwhelming.
Getting a ps5 running on a old CRT is amazing wow. Also id love to say its a lock that we get a sequel....but Arcsys has a horrible track record with ignoring franchises that are wildly popular. With Persona we all expected a Persona 5 arena but its been well past the time to capitalize.
a bit confused, how one ragebreaks a disc? Takes it out and then snaps it lol? I've heard of dudes breaking their controllers by throwing it, but thats a first. 🤣
For me, as a non competitive player, I really like Figtherz but not love it. It always a little too busy, as far as what's happening on screen. I prefer a game like burst limit, with the 2,5D style. And I felt more engaging to me. What I hate about burst limit is how few characters it has, it's not well balanced at all, and it could use a bit more combo-based gameplay.
Thorgy over at Thorgy's Arcade gave the ideia of Fighters being the series and the anime they chose being the thing that changes. God I really want a One Piece Fighters like he made in his video, but I would take a Naruto, My Hero, Black Clover, Bleach, Yu Yu Hakusho, Jujutsu Kaisen, Hunter X Hunter, Chainsaw Man or any of Shonen Jump's big séries. Or hell, make the next Fighter the new Jump Ultimate Stars
One thing I’m disappointed in Fighterz is the characters that they completely ignored or neglected to include on to the roster. I don’t get why they just can’t do that, can’t really give the argument that “oh they just ran out of space” where they literally can just do it like smash does it. Each new character that’s available, the smaller the icons become..literally same with raging blast 2 or Tenkaichi where there’s different versions of the character and that would have certain transformation options (in this case they’ll all be bunched together since we got endless versions of the main guys in fighterz) they can do it but are just lazy to not continue it.
Sadly its one of my least favorite because the art style is so damn good, the fact you had to pay for base form goku, and vegeta, really the biggest reason is im not a fan of that marvel vs capcom style of fighting.
eh i personally couldnt stand this game. i hate tag fighters especially 3way. the cpu was also very unbalanced and spammy. actually the controls are spammy and thats something i dont like in any fighting game. and having to buy all those characters was a major no for me, i will not support that. when yer going back to games of the same series from decades ago (bt3 on wii for me), thats bad. that shows the series' development hasnt gotten any better. for fighting games, theres no reason why older games should be anything close to "just as good"
Absolutely this is the best dbz game in recent years for me. The closest thing we have gotten to budokai 3, my favourite db game of all time. I really disliked the 3d environment switch that tenkaichi introduced. Also the unique story this game has is awesome, it could actually double as it's own anime and fit well within the db universe. Certainly had better execution than Dragonball GT did with it's story. Sparking Zero is over-rated imo, overly complex controls\combos, lazy story mode, unresponsive buttons (latency problems), and that 3d environment I disliked in tenkaichi. Controls in FighterZ are so tight, story has a lot of effort put in + it tells a new unique story of it's own, animation\sound fx\visual quality are spot on, it is a true side scrolling fighter unlike some of the other db games. It has aged very well even today.
What I find crazy is that he boast about how well this game is, yet they completely stoped putting in work on this and still focus on xeno and even mobile games more
It’s okay, the game is great. He may have put it down because it takes commitment to get and stay good at this game. When you make content on practically every hype game, the time for certain commitments is lessened
I liked the original Budokai the best out of the Budokai games. I really like FighterZ as well but I don't like how they made you pay for all of the DLC characters in order to have a complete roster. It was expensive and it's one of the reasons I probably won't buy another Dragonball game for a long long time. It's one of the reasons I had no interest in Dragonball Z Kakarot. I have absolutely zero interest in a sequel to FighterZ because I know they'll just do what they did with the original FighterZ and make you buy all of the DLC characters to have a complete roster.
This is why I'm glad I didn't buy it on release but buying it and dlc on sale is the bomb. I don't understand why there's a 100 dollar version because a lot of the stuff other than characters is useless
dragon ball xenoverse 2 is better :P no but tbh i like both fighterz and xenoverse 2 but i have to say i love xenoverse 2 way more im not huge into the pure fighting only games though so im a bit biased

Man said “it got rollback”. What game game have you been playing?
Can you make videos on the yakuza games
One thing I’m disappointed in Fighterz is the characters that they completely ignored or neglected to include on to the roster. I don’t get why they just can’t do that, can’t really give the argument that “oh they just ran out of space” where they literally can just do it like smash does it. Each new character that’s available, the smaller the icons become..literally same with raging blast 2 or Tenkaichi where there’s different versions of the character and that would have certain transformation options (in this case they’ll all be bunched together since we got endless versions of the main guys in fighterz) they can do it but are just lazy to not continue it.
I can never find a match on pc anymore so I can never really play it
If they make a sequel Just make it so you can transform midfight To super saiyan Instead of it being a attack
It's funny he is playing ps5 on that old TV hahaha
Most of you are too young to know, but this is ultimate battle 22 remake basically
This game is too hard idc and its online lobby sucks also very few characters I hate that they make you pay for every character
Some of the best characters aren’t even DLC. The game isn’t hard you’re just bad.
That's with most fighting games you either get good or simply don't play them at all
@@govianthefemaleinspector1517half of the characters are dlc
@@govianthefemaleinspector1517 nah I’m great at mortal combat and every other dbz game it plays like super dragonball on ps2
fighting games tend to be the most sweaty tryhard/genre when it comes to online. I prefer playing the single player or couch co-op.
Its up there but i still prefer the tenkaichi games, the budokai games more. I prefer it over xenoverse though.
Ha! I have that shirt at home.
Fighterz does not have rollback nec yet so
Sadly its one of my least favorite because the art style is so damn good, the fact you had to pay for base form goku, and vegeta, really the biggest reason is im not a fan of that marvel vs capcom style of fighting.
Is there ssj3 goku?
You really are retro 😂😂😭😭😭 the TV
To be fair the game is really fun ngl for the type of game it is semi similar to boudakai 1-3
Rollback at this current point in time is in fact not in the game folks.
It’s arc systems work Japan they don’t f around when it comes to making fighting games
THEY ADDED ROLLBACK??????!!!
eh i personally couldnt stand this game. i hate tag fighters especially 3way. the cpu was also very unbalanced and spammy. actually the controls are spammy and thats something i dont like in any fighting game. and having to buy all those characters was a major no for me, i will not support that.
when yer going back to games of the same series from decades ago (bt3 on wii for me), thats bad. that shows the series' development hasnt gotten any better. for fighting games, theres no reason why older games should be anything close to "just as good"
Wait so is the game no longer receiving support?
No more DLC. They delivered with SSJ4 Gogeta being the last fighter.
This would be the perfect game if matches were quick and easy to join like Rocket League. The interactive menu is too much.
Better than sparking zero honestly.
Raging Blast 1 and 2 next or Budokai
What I find crazy is that he boast about how well this game is, yet they completely stoped putting in work on this and still focus on xeno and even mobile games more
I’m mad cause I love this game
It’s okay, the game is great. He may have put it down because it takes commitment to get and stay good at this game. When you make content on practically every hype game, the time for certain commitments is lessened
These guys should have been the one to make a demon slayer fighting game
You played a five year old game!? OH MY GOD 😒
Can't imagine why he changed the video title 🙄
@@thepoptart141are we supposed to care how you feel?
Legacy of goku 2 is the best dbz game. Legendary Super Warriors is amazing too.
This and Budokai Tenkaichi 3 are the best DBZ games
Dragonball Fighterz was the best DBZ game I enjoyed the game.
No, no it definitely is not the best DBZ game. That distinction still belongs to Budokai 3.
Nah this game looks and plays better.
tbh it was Kakarot for me i just found the story more enjoyable
Quite EASILY the best Dragonball game of all time.
dragon ball xenoverse 2 is better :P no but tbh i like both fighterz and xenoverse 2 but i have to say i love xenoverse 2 way more im not huge into the pure fighting only games though so im a bit biased
Yes
Yes it is
