- After building my 5th gen 4runner into a serious "overcrawler" I hit the road for a year long overlanding journey, and the truck performed perfectly except for the constant tearing of my RCVaxle Boots. over and over and over ad]nd one more time they tore making it necessary for me to have to find a spot to tear down the entire front suspension to replace them only for it to happen again and again. FINALLY RCVAXLES Gave me the solution. and In this video Ill show you what that is.

Over here in Australia, every man and his dog has a four x four UA-cam channel. Yet seven years on and I'm still watching RFB saying it like it is.
I think we can all agree and say…We love you! You have personally inspired me, I finally took the 4 runner to lazy springs off-road park and said whatever happens, happens. Bone stock 23’ runner and let it rip. Forget the pin stripes forget the bruises and just go. I do plan to go all out like you but have to make that payment first. Big fan brother, just making notes from your experience.

I don't do anywhere near what you do, but after 13 years of Midwest service and another 3 years in SoCal. I've replaced my 2008 4Runner's stock original XREAS system with Dobinsons MMR's, rear springs, and SPC UCA's. I just got new CV axles from GSP (no core charge) and Wheel and Hub Assemblies from SKF!
I'm in no rush, but I'm considering between getting the Total Chaos or Dirt Kings LCA's!

Kind of burns your ass that they didn't fix this problem sooner because I'm sure the technology existed. Oh well the work keeps you in shape and helps one remember the curse words needed. Glad it is fixed, and you can spend more time doing what you do and making videos for the rest of us. A little better ride with the independent front suspension anyway. Thanks for the update.
You should get a dog for company and protection like a belgian malinois or something. Help you when you have to stay or fix stuff in the wilderness. It would be cool to see you with a dog.
My dogs keep me going. They are better than most people. It’s continually surprising how much they help.
Trick to cv boots is getting all the air out of them. When air gets hot it expands. The more air you get out? The better.

I’m running kdss and just put in total chaos lower control arms and as bad ass as they are, the kdss sway bar hides the lowers lol. Glad it’s fixed
i ran triple bypasses up front to delete the swaybar, the swaybar defeats the LT

Well you struck a nerve Richie , I have Dodge ram 1500 daily driver , had it couple years and the axle boot busted outboard , replaced it and a couple months later the other side same thing , slung grease all over of course both times ! Replaced them and 2 years later replacing all the ball joints both sides ! Because the mechanic that changed my axles busted the boots on the top ball joint both sides ! Any way changing the upper and lower ball joints and look down at my practically new CV axle and to the inboard boot is ripped right at the clamp on small part on the shaft ! Did both sides and when I got to the other side , bam! The exact same thing on that side to ! So I tried the old bush fix , used a zip tie instead of the band and it broke two ribs on one side and pulled the other side where I zip tied it too ! So the one axles is shot so going to just replace both sides again ! It sucks ! Peace and Love !
Glad you had good results! Yeah my RCVs have given me so much headache.They had black outer boots in the past but it seems like these are some new version black boots.

You'd have loved hanging out with me and some guy's I used to run around with. I took a crap load of tests before and during my stint in the army and they kept telling me I was really smart 🤓😮. A long with that and an mos change I got some bonuses 😊.
I promptly went out and traded my old man's new 83 dodge ram 8' bed truck which before he passed had had the suspension upgraded and bigger tires installed ( old dude would cut off a back road like we take right hand turns), anyways between him and me(I inherited it when he passed in 84), we wrecked the transmission hahaha it couldn't take it. But bas it was slowly dying in my aunt's car port I was being fast tracked through a bunch of "Army" training sir! Got that bonus, got that 10 day home and under my uncles supervision traded that truck, got a brand new 1985 AMC CJ (I think it was a 7) jeep. No frills, 4 wheel drive,4 cylinder, vinyl top,no radio. Just a stick jeep. I took that thing everywhere, eventually changing out to a more heavy tread set of tires. Just drove over, around,up,down, sideways shit! My buddies never knew to laughing or saying their prayer's. Loved that jeep, even used to shoot deer, just roll out drop the windshield and wait hahaha 😁. Are a lot of cornstalks and bugs.
Why tell the story???
Because your vids remind me of those days, I never worried about the jeep, it always pulled through even when we landed it on a stump and after all of us pushed it off, did something to the clutch. Took it to a local shop, guy called me the next day, tolde bad news was to fix it required some tiny "O" ring that did something for the pressure in the clutch but you had to buy the whole clutch to get one. Good news? There was a 53 CJ way in the back of the salvage yard that had a tree growing out of it. But no one had ever taken the clutch apart? Well surprise surprise 😉 it had the exact same part and it was still in great shape!!!!
$50 that was it and a used skid plate hahaha 😂 back in business. Miss that jeep......
Thanks for your stories, I was hell coming behind the wheel of quite a few vehicles, even in the military before the sucky hmvee we had the 151.

I ripped my boots like the first month after it was built. I pretty much all the same stuff you have on yours. Coastal off-road total chaos King . doing triple bypass in the front soon. I have bump stops to go in the rear. I'm going to French them into the frame.. I got the Sequoia that you were going to challenge .. honestly I think you would still beat me LOL.. check my picture out. Waiting on you to come back to AZ😎

I kinda also notice that the bellows rubbing on themselves causes the issue. It seems like even farther than 4in would be ideal.

@jailbreak thats what you need " ProSeries CV Savers (930). 4 Inch large end opening. CV Boot Saver. CV Boot Protection. i have for 60000 miles on my 4runner and no problam from my cv boots.
Recently ordered a set of the RCVs, will be checking out if they come with the orange boot or not - TY for the heads

I had black boots and they ripped as well. Went back to orange and my shop used some kind of sealant to stop the tearing. 🤷♂️

How do you like the Total Chaos controls arms? From the video, they seem pretty quiet. I'm having a hell of a time with another aftermarket brand with them squeaking, bad. Not only the squeaking, but to grease everything, you have to jack up the truck and unbolt the UCA before you can get grease into the bushings. Is Total Chaos the same way?
