doesn't matter who sings this, it's the most brilliant score. You would have to be brain dead not to enjoy this.
Stop living in the past...The Original will always be the best. This is a very good version and I cant wait to see the whole thing together.
I grew up with this master piece as a kid and still love it today. Jeff Wayne is a legend. I saw the concert in Australia when it came some years ago and loved it. Ive just ordered my copy of the New Generation so looking forward to hearing it. This musical is truly top shelf stuff.
totally brilliant... supersedes me by many years but I love this... the goosebumps and feelings this gives you are timeless... listen to this in bed when I am trying to sleep, listen whilst I am driving to work, Listen whilst I am doing anything,... Infact I just ordered the CD. Beautiful...nothing but love for this...
One of my fav songs from the album! I just don't see why people are complaining. I think they've done a marvelous job of updating this. Gary's voice is perfect for this song. I'm off to buy the album tomorrow.
The perfect choice for liam neeson as the narrator
this version is more beautiful simply because the voice is more beautiful. the original is good, but this version is so warm and moving.
One of my favourite songs from the amazing album
come on its just brilliant, such effort such enjoyment these are the things of the mind.
Brilliant, I enjoyed this and hats off to Liam Nielsen. Eleanor UK
liked it since i was three im 28 now
Gary Barlow does a pretty sick rendition of this though.
The untrained ear wouldnt be able to pick them apart.
Also, While Richard Burton has the sexiest voice in the whole of britain, Liam Neeson isnt far behind.
-My two cents.
Barlow grew up listening to, and digging, the original '78 "WOTW," so imagine him singing along to Hayward's original vocal on this, and copping a lot of his tone and mannerisms!
i love the songs from the musical. this one being one of my favorites, behind the eve of the war
Bring back Justin Hayward! Justin's voice is far superior, and his class and style cannot be surpassed.
This version is called new generation for a simple reason, a new take, a new voice for the current generation
You’re lucky, Justin Hayward was brought back for the life begins again tour.
Went watching the live show in Manchester on Saturday, it was fantastic!
Oh I've been away for a while🧐
Not really feeling Liam Neeson, He's no Richard Burton but "GO ON Gary!!!" Well impressed with you bro.
I saw this holgram at a press conference i got a free ticket too. It was amazing.
i know what people mean about the richard burton narration, but i think perhaps with the new version they're looking for a voice that would hold the listener, the narration is full of very descriptive words, it sets the scene in your mind, liam neeson has that smooth sound and for me it works,
Gary is singing it live. search it on youtube! he is great. his live performances are always far better than the studio versions.
Hola una version brillante como todo lo que viene de Gary Barlow 💓😘😎
Where is Gary barlow? Sing it live man!
The start of this song has always reminded me of the last unicorn and I don't know why! I just listened to the last unicorn soundtrack and it sounds slightly similar in one song but when I listen to this it reminds me if that movie more than the actual movie soundtrack! What?!!! Does anyone else get this?
NEEDS TO COME TO THE OTHER SIDE OF THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
To that penis 2 comments below... Why have u searched and watched this video? The last thing I look for on UA-cam is something I don't like! I think this is ace. Such childhood memories I have listening to this. I recon its a damn good effort so there!!
That's like saying it's not a Bond film without Sean Connery (or Barry Nelson for the purists) Things move on and can co-exist to be enjoyed separately - with an open mind.
Well said!
Agreed....saw the show Live at Brighton...AY....MAY....ZING
I concur!
excellent...x
настоящий дирижер и настоящий композитор.
I never grew up with the older version, but from a younger perspective, I feel the new album is brilliant, however, I do agree it doesn't have the same feeling as the original. It's still really great though.
The eve of the war and forever antuem
Super
Justin Wayward never get fed up of hearing his voice
Eve of The War
Buenisima
3:45 Looks like new album artwork, cant wait to see what paintings are included this time
I was there
Well... 6 Million ppl... unarmed and suffering, moving together? That is NOT Fiction any more :-(
Justin does this best!
It could be the Alan Parson project and Mike Oldfield in the same project..... anyway I love Liam Neeson's voice!! One of the best actors EVER.....
The tripod coming to earth
That was quick
If any of you think any of this was live, you came down in the last shower!
no ones singing, its the recording of him singing but the orchestra is playing
As much as I dislike Gary Barlow he did a pretty good job on this.
It's a bit dark, isn't it? You can't even see who's singing !
I have the musical notional score for the whole War Of Worlds album.....I can do a reasonable performance of some of the songs on my synth organ, but it has notions such as (HEATRAY GUITAR) (STRINGS) (OBOE SYNTH) ...there's only so much you can do at once on a single instrument!
mistofoles wait Is the Oboe Synth Sound for the music replaced Part of „The Chances of anything coming from Mars Are a million to one he said“?
Did anyone count the amount of soldiers what were in those few CGI samples looks like we are going to see some Imennse battles.
Um... Where is Gary Barlow in this video?!
16 martians disliked
BUT where is Gary - I cant see him?
no i mean in the older shows they use his voice coz only his voice can do it liam neason just doesnt have the gritty bassy voice for it
@eightballjelly it's Gary Barlow I'm afraid :P
Gary Barlow is a good singer and does this classic justice for the remake, however he just hasnt quite got the same punch of the original singer.
Mimed. Grr.
Who care's were Barlow is....where the hell are Chris Spedding and Herbie Flowers in the band : (
If Gary wasn't going to be there what was the point of using a recording of HIS voice? Especially when it's so clearly trying to be as close to the original as possible. Why not just use the original recording?
That lady has now freaked me out she will be giving me nightmares 3:34
bah Humbug!!!!!!!!!!!
Tbh, i like ertenpeller's dubstep version of WotW
So Gary Barlow didnt feel like showing up for the live performance?
and Liam N thought he'd pretend to be unable to act during filming?
They must have messed them about because Gary can perform live, and Liam N can act…
But today…. Nope….
Why is eve of the worlds and forever antumen
yes, why get so many people in to just mime the bloody thing, what was the point
I agree. To me, the original is much creepier. The new album seems to have more of a dance vibe running through it. Just my opinion
Gary Barlow? He's not here!!
is voice is
he,s saving on the taxi fare
here we see a couple of pantomine horses where they are engaged in life and death struggle from invaders from mars. lol. 3:45
Liam, you ain't no Richard Burton, buddy.
NO. its not war of the worlds without richard burton and its not forever autumn without justin hayward
Awfffffffuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuullllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll........bought the double album in 1984 isn't a patch on it
Eso es música y lo de más tonterias
Ultimately, a daring move by Jeff Wayne! Gary Barlow Mmmm? The rendition is too close to the original version; I don't mean in quality of sound or richness of Hayward's voice. I mean in style...Too close to beg the question; "Why bother?"...
No original Gary Barlow stamp on it...
But therein lies the problem; We'd hate it more if he changed it...But we dislike it cos' he's NOT Justin hayward...Damned if he does, damned if he doesn't!!!
Barlow you have done it again .taken a brill song and f;;ked it up .leave it to the professionals and go back to your talent show where you can make out you no a thing or two
That's rude
Gary Barlow sounds like a proffesional singer and does a great job. He doesn't ruin it at all, but he doesn't go beyond just another proffetional singer for me. Justin sounds like more than just another proffesional singer. He's got that x factor that Gary Barlow just doesn't have, you know, the kind of x factor that was special and meant something seemingly beyond mortal before Simon Cowell ruined that phrase. Sorry Gary, you're good, but you're no Hayward.
Barlow should want aliens to come down from Mars. If everyone(including the Taxman) is running around going "Argh! bloody aliens!", they're not looking in his accounts. Which, quite frankly, leave a lot to be desired.
Better than I was expecting but not a patch on the original. Neeson's opening prologue is so unemotional, especially when you compare it to how unnerving and disturbing Burton's was. Not a fan of the 80s dance beat they've added, rather takes away any sense of threat the score previously had. Gary Barlow's voice suits FA perfectly but that bizarre beat going on at intervals in the song rather detracts from the beauty of it, and, as others have said, it is very similar to the originally, and bas
Liam Neeson??? WTF??
mistofoles My thoughts exactly.
@S Mary May+ Sorry, but he sucks. No-one can replace the magnificent voice of the late, great Richard Burton.
i will never be able to see how good this version is, for the origional is too stamped into my head. To me this sounds tacky somewhat, with the strange synths... Gary sings well but like others say is no Justin... and Liam neeson tries but no mortal can even come remotely close to the speech of Richard Burton. This version is however a very good way to make a new generation (mine) aware of War of the worlds.
but this isn't gary live??!!!!
this is his recorded (and synthesised) voice. not even a pick on the real live voice.
and i love liam neeson, but the miming of his lips to the track are off time.
Good try Garry but you aren't Justin Hayward. it will always be his song.
Nice try Gary. But your not
Justin Hayward
Why bother?can't top the original.Think Jeff Wayne is doing a bit of a George Lucas
eh, its ok, the original was better
Not the same as the original. Gary Barlow is average, very flat! ... this remake album will be awful if this is anything to go by?
oh god, this is terrible, I hate gary barlow so much :(
