Jeff Wayne's The War Of The Worlds Medley (Orchestral Version)

- Here we go again.
This track is about five years old, but my magnificent wife put such cool images together, I just had to put it online.
The themes are of course composed by Jeff Wayne, the footage consists of trailers for the show and shaky-cam stuff that Doro spent hours on correcting (plus, she created the fog behind the credits from scratch).
Sorry for the rather low resolution this time ... the footage is rare, low in quality and hard to find.
We had to compromise.
Anyway, the music was performed (as always) by myself. Hope you enjoy it!
This is a non profit video from a fan.
I've always wished this franchise was more popular. It's so much more interesting and romantic when the human force in a setting like this is devoid of tanks, aircraft or nuclear weapons. It allows the Martian designs to be far more whimsical (and nonsensical), but it's precisely what makes them memorable. Automatic tripods with big glowing eyes, shooting beams of fire and black smoke, play into our human fears and instincts infinitely more effectively than the aliens portrayed in the more grounded media. At least that's how I feel.
Same, I always felt like this series was a tad bit underrated, at least to me. It’s not as recognizable like other things. I bet if you ask the nearest person what War of the Worlds is, they would tell you they never heard about it.
i've always loved the more octopus like design of the martians, it really helps bring out the weird and unknown that makes them so scary

Same been into wotw since middle school so like 2014
im just hopefully waiting for the time when someone faithfully adapts the book (hell, even wayne's) into a movie. its astounding how almost every movie has just gotten it incorrect.
"My home is destroyed, my wife is probably dead, and I'm more than likely the last man on earth".

This needs to be used in the next War of the Worlds movie.
Ethon. they at least need a thunderchild battle vs martians.
Ethon however it would be copyrighted
i really want them to use the original flying machines though. in the books (and presumably in the musical as well since they were never mentioned) the flying machines were a rare experimental weapon the martians made towards the end of the story, there were never massive fleets of them like in this video.
TristenDoesGames they “over sci-fied it” if that’s a word

@@joshuapuckett7920 if they were man made, then definitely
This video was uploaded the day before my birthday! I absolutely love the Jeff Wayne version of WOTW!
As much I _adore_ the book. The War of the Worlds is hilarious in the regards that the world's military might would actually be a credible threat to the martians.
Military industrial complex finally paid off for more than OIL ACQUISITION
If they arrived in this day and age, probably, but definitely not during the victorian period lol.
All it takes is one determined caveman with a rock
The British Army and Royal Navy _were_ a threat to them. Why do you think they needed to conquer Great Britain before anywhere else?
All things are subject to the laws of physics. It’s it’s reasonable to think they could have made it to earth and still be vulnerable to a 15 inch shell to the face. I mean, they lost to germs in the end
1:08 sounds like the Wii menu music a little.
Well... thanks, now I have THAT in my head for the rest of the day. :)

The Martians actually hoot, which turns out is more of a wheezing sound from their breathing. But Aloo and Ulla can still be considered their cries too.
I love music regardless of its genre. From classical to pop. From hip hop to rock. It's nice to see and hear other musicians taking on iconic tunes like war of the worlds and performing it their way. These tripods feel more terrifying to me than the 2005 ones just because those owl-like eyes appear just so organic and have a glow like they're staring into your soul
Richard Keogh I like them too but Spielberg's tripods look as described in the book
They look like they're looking up all the time, when they should be looking down.
Yeah I also prefer 2005 ones
The 2005 ones also have that life like movement where as these are clearly just mechanical, sure the 2005 ones were mechanical as well but the movement of their legs gave them as summarized by one of the designers “the look of scary ballorina dancers”
@@CarnivorousPlantsAndGardening the book described them as walking milking stools with articulated legs and a circle dome
and the heat ray as a camera box of heat
which comes closer to the art H.G wells drew rather then Spielberg

Guadalupe Andrade what do you mean
Watching this ten years later, feels so nostalgic, not to mention, the 2005 movie is now free.
I’d always had a theory that those martians were once humanoid shaped several thousand years ago. But they must’ve had a massive war that destroyed almost all life on Mars, and mutated the martians. And their bodies have gone drastic changes over the span of 5,000 years since.
You're partially right actually. IIRC Wells himself stated that the martians were essentially a thought experiment on what the average human might look like had they evolved with only the need for the most important organs such as arms (or tentacles in this case), a brain, heart and lungs, so it's quite possible that humanity (or something similar to it) once thrived on Mars, but considering how far it is from the sun, it's no surprise that things went south s quickly.
What if Wells if predicting that somewhere down the line Elon Musk’s Mars city’s actually separate from earth and launch and invasion to capture earth for themselves because they start to realize Mars isn’t truly with the time and effort? Of course this is a considerable amount of time in the future.
Interesting, this line of thinking isn't too dissimilar to the origins of the Dalek race in Doctor Who. That said, that is genuinely a chilling thought. Whatever classified as bipedal beings for them would end up as an atrocity species that are devoid of moral feelings or empathy. Another way to allegorize us.
Another theory that I think the Martians were killing the humans not just for food, but to eliminate their ancestral image that were responsible for the reason Mars has degraded over the course of 5,000 years.

Allison Fountain when I was a kid I loved it too, I am now 46. It will stay with you, it's a very haunting and brilliant album
I'm loving it. I was a massive fan of the original when I was a child. My eldest sibling used to play it on records, or vinals, & we could follow Burton's voice with the words of the big fold out album. Then years later it came out on CD which I still own. Unfortunately we don't even own a CD. So I'm loving Bluetoothing this in my car. I really like this version. This is one of the best fan made War of The Worlds videos I have seen, excellent and captivating music too!
The first 30 seconds, before the Eve of War really kicks in, sounds very reminiscent of the theme to Super Metroid.
I like it.
Others have pointed that out, too. I have never played Metroid in my life, but I recognized the similarities when I did some research years after I uploaded this. Coincidence. But I like that some real musicians had similar ideas to mine. Also: glad you like it.
I actually think it sounds much more like one of the themes from Pendragon Pictures' film adaptation from the same year as Spielberg's one. I can't recall when it plays but it has a very similar bass line, just in 10/8 time
I used to watch this when i was young i didn’t even know what was going on but i just kept watching for some reason
I hope this hits 1 million views
Congratulations man, your video has now reached a million views. Good job
Watching one of those Sci fi documentaries last night and they had a big section on "War Of The Worlds". I actually have Jeff Wayne's album somewhere but haven't got around to listening to any of it yet. Sounds a rather interesting listen!.
I always think that the moral of the story of "War Of The Worlds" is like Homer's "Illiad" in how Achilles was brought down. The heel...the tender part. The thing that you least expect can tumble anything to the ground. It was humble germs with the Martians. Covid with humans to a certain degree. There's a chain reaction that Covid started...we're teetering but not fallen yet. Will we right ourselves up again though?. That's the question...
