The funniest thing about Aftermath is the sheer amount of fights that only happen because the characters are with Shang Tsung. That's the sort of reputation he has 🤣

It wasn’t a plot hole. The Fire god Liu kang was outside of time. It makes perfect sense.
Raiden even says early on, immortals are outside the normal rules of time.

If that’s the case, remember the first time merger there weren’t supposed to be 2 raidens, the bad raiden disappeared while the good raiden was around cause he’s outside of time, then there shouldn’t be a lui lang (broken leg) and good raiden since fire god lui lang exists, or maybe I have it wrong, yea this shit breaking my head too

@@Kwae33We know that they can exist at different points of time and aren't completely outside it , cuz bad Raiden was already a thing and we still got good Raiden from the past later , how would that even come to be ? So i think the logic was Raidens from two different points in time cannot exist at the same time , but they exist in different points of time .
We didn't see the other Liu Kang and Raiden still existing when fire god liu kang arrived in the end , so we can only assume they disappeared when this Liu Kang arrived like what happened with bad Raiden earlier .
Watching Sindel and Shao Khan's smugness get absolutely shat on by Shang Tsung is extremely satisfying.

For context, Fujin did everything (good and bad) because he had to. It was the only way. He wasn’t incompetent for giving Shang Tsung the crown, he had to do that. That’s why in the beginning Fujin said to Liu Kang “but the risk Liu Kang” and Liu Kang said “will be rewarded”. Just letting those who don’t know, know lol.
The "reward" was Fujin becoming a woman in the new timeline (Raidens sister)

Since lui Kang became a god he exists outside the normal flows of time now at least fire god lui kang it’s pretty much what happened to raiden earlier in mk 11 when dark raiden was erased and normal raiden came back

I'm not being spelling police or anything it's just most people do that typing mistake and pronouncing it sounds funny
I don't see anyone explaining to you the reason why you felt the pacing was off and overly long towards the end. The first time Kronika was defeated by Liu Kang was the end of the main MK11 story at release. The game rolled credits. But then a year-ish later they released 5 bonus chapters as story DLC starting at the moment Shang Tsung appears. That's why they had a lot of repeated scenes that were longer than you thought they should be, because it had been a lot longer time gap for everyone else. But this MKIceandFire guy has edited them all together seamlessly, which is beneficial in some regards but has clearly messed up the tracking of the overall pacing for you. It would have helped to take a break after Liu Kang won initially and then had the Aftermath DLC storyline separately, because for everyone who played it, the pacing was excellent. Hope you guys still enjoyed it though!
Also that the one at the end is not Kung Lao, but great Kung Lao, his ancestor
The twist about Liu Kang letting every sh**ty thing happen literally redeems every depressing moment in the Aftermath epilogue cuz it makes all the sense and alot better.

So the reason why the fire god didn't get floppy legs is because he's no longer effected by the changes in the timeline. Remember when Chronica started rewinding time and everything went backwards, but he didn't. And then she said "Raidens power shielded you from the hourglass". Anyways, also he's not even in the same timeline at that point, he's literally at the "dawn of time"
Yep. Since he's also a god, he's not affected by the change because gods "exists outside of time" as Raiden says.
1:00:30 that’s Rain. Originally he was a reskin of Sub Zero and Scorpion, like all the other colour ninjas were back in the day.

His backstory is that he was born from the Union between his mother Amara and the Edenian God Argus, but for his whole life he grew up feeling he was destined for greater things, which after discovering his true parentage, you can imagine he lets it go to his head that he’s a half-god.
The two sons of Argus in the bubbles are Taven and Daegon, and are technically Rains half brothers.
As you can tell he commands total control over water the same way Sub Zero and Scorpion command total control over ice and fire.
Yes evil Sindel was a major retcon even within this timeline. She was supposed to be originally good but they retconed her because they 'wanted her gothic appearance to match her personality' apparently. They faced major backlash because of it
Wouldn't be surprised if Raiden's shenanigans in MK9 caused her retconned evil. Dude screwed the timeline hard.

The guy who decided Shao Kahn is a Demi-god because gods shouldn’t be evil is his reasoning. Even though Shao Kahn is a god, he just happens to be evil. It’s his logic/decisions that make me dislike a lot about MK11.
@@TimedRevolver It’s possible Raiden sending visions back in time caused an influence because some characters showing up in earlier points of time shouldn’t have happened.

The funniest thing out of all this is that Fujin knew everything that was going to happen thanks to Fire God Liu Kang telling him everything before he sent them back. The man's acting skills are phenomenal.

To clear up the confusion: Fire God Liu Kang is at the dawn of time where the begin and end of time can be seen. Kronika stated that close to the end if the second fight. Also it will make sense seeing that he sent back Fujin, Shang Tsung and Nightwolf at the dawn of time he can also send back himself.
The character ending where you said " this is slightly confusing", that character is Rain. He was murdering his half brothers Taven and Daegon

@@EFUwazurike The Kung Lao in MK1 isn't the Great Kung Lao. MK1 is set in the modern era where Johnny Cage is alive, the Great Kung Lao was born way before that.
The MK fanbase can be divided on many things, but SO many people were in agreement of the distaste of Sindel's retcon. One pro that did come out of it was the unique shift in perspective of playing as the bad guy and seeing the villains triumph. Also i love how like 50% of all fights start in Aftermath simply because Nightwolf and Fujin are standing next to Shang Tsung
I like the idea that she was evil, but the inconsistency of the lore makes that hard to believe.

@@Gozkiel blame Dominic Chianciolo, the story and v.o. Director, many changes occurred because of him. Brian Chard left after MKX due to creative differences, which is why they went with a time travel story that breaks the lore, and didn’t do Dark Raiden vs Outworld/Netherrealm. Kronika’s existence alone retcons MK lore which is why I don’t want to see her again. Dominic doesn’t care about any of that because he didn’t work on the original games, Brian Chard did.
Fujin is the God of Wind, part of the elemental guardians of Earthrealm: Wind, Earth, Water and Fire. They guard Shinnok's amulet.
Fujin was the first boss in "Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero" where the first Sub-Zero, now Noob Saibot, is the protagonist. That's why Fujin and Noob had some back and forth earlier in the cutscenes.
1:05:44 Oh that's supposed to be Kung Lao's ancestor. The great Kung Lao! He died in the Mortal Kombat tournament against Goro. However, the Kung Lao that Liu Kang is best friends with tries to be like his ancestor, but Liu Kang always gets the shine. The reason their rivals is because Liu Kang was an orphan and Kung Lao a decented of the great Kung Lao.

That's true. Normally, some retcons are okay. However, the retcon for Sindel feels very random, seeing how in previous games she's usually a victim of being brain washed

Shang Tsung still has her enchanted. It's the only way that could possibly make sense given what we know.

In the original timeline Sindel was not evil. She had been mind controlled by Shao Khan and managed to break free of his control long enough to sacrifice herself to place a ward that would prevent Shao Khan from stepping foot in Earthrealm so as to hopefully prevent it from suffering the same fate as Edenia. They even mention this protection in MK9 (it's the whole reason Quan Chi revives her) and Shao Khan always talks about Sindel more as a trophy than an actual wife like he does in MK11. Her being evil the whole time is the retcon that has been the most controversial, personally I'm still not 100% sure where I stand with it.
MK11 dropped the ball on the sindel retcon.
They didn’t just screw Sindel over but Kitana as well. They have Sindel beat her nearly to death after Kitana had only been Khan for A DAY. Netherealm doesn’t really treat their female characters withe respect.
@@thedarkknight2221 exactly. The main problem with the new mk franchise after mk 9 is so inconsistent in power levels and story that it becomes irritating at point. Raiden is literally forbidden from fighting because he is a god and is stronger than mortals yet you have instances where he gets beat down and struggles against people he should be completely unfazed by. Same goes for geras. A literal god like being that was able to go toe to toe with Raiden even matching him yet you have shao Kahn and sindel completely whooping and embarrassing him 🤦😑. Also I agree, the sindel being bad was just plain bad writing. They went from her being a likable character who loved her daughter and was being mind controlled to an unlikable wench who became bad all of a sudden when she was in no way shape or form bad before. Hopefully the mortal Kombat creators fixes this shit in the mortal Kombat 1 games story since sindel is gonna be in it since we see her in the background of one of the stages in the gameplay demo. It also looks like aftermath will be made non canon and they'll stick to the original ending where Liu Kang alters the timeline with Raiden guiding him since the Liu Kang ending in aftermath was retconned as well since he doesn't make the great king lao his champion in mk1 which was what was shown in the aftermath ending. The mk website confirms that Liu kangs champions are Raiden and the regular Kung lao.

5:26 Understandable. Fujin was introduced in Mortal Kombat 4. He was also in the mini game. I forgot the name of it, but it was during Bi-Han's time as Sub-Zero. It showed that it was other gods protecting Earth alongside Raiden and Fujin. Unfortunately, they died. He was also in Mortal Kombat: Armageddon. The games he's in, he was always pretty cool, just didn't know much about him, we just knew he was the God of Wind and also the protector of Earth like Raiden. MK11 shows more of his character and finding out that he is Raiden's brother which makes sense in a way.
i think because liu kang became a god and is merged with the god soul of raiden, he is beyond time now, explaining why he was able to exist at the edge of creation and return to fight shang tsung

It's pretty simple to understand, actually. Fire God Liu Kang exists outside of time in the same way Kronika did. HE is the one who sent Fujin, Nightwolf, and Shang Tsung back, if you remember. And since the beginning, when Shang Tsung told Liu Kang to stop his magik on the Hourglass and Liu Kang continued to use it, he was actually figuring out a way to correct the mistake of destroying the crown -- then he played along.
Once Shang Tsung did everything the Hourglass showed required, Liu Kang made his move.
It ended with two Keepers of Time, with only one coming out on top.

The reason why there weren't 2 Raiden's when time first merged was because there can't be 2 Gods of the same element in 1 timeline. But since he became Fire God Lui Kang, he didn't have an equal. Sheng Tsung stopping their merge actually HELPED Fire God Lui Kang stay present when he entered their timeline.
The Kung Lao at the end wasn’t the Kung Lao that Liu Kang knew. That was the FIRST and original great Kung Lao that was referenced by Jin in Mortal Kombat X. The main clue was that green statue that the original Kung Lao was cleaning. That was the same green statue that Jim stole from Raiden’s temple also in Mortal Kombat X
To answer what I think was your question,fire god lui Kang wasn't affected by shao khan breaking normal lui kangs leg because hes an immortal,like raiden said in chapter 2, immortals are affected differently by the hourglass
The lui kang from the ending is the orginal from the orginal timeline. Tricking shang saung in dealing with everything. The kung lau from the new era is the great kung lau. The first mortal kombat champion of earth realm. That's why the new mortal kombat 1 is a new rebooted timeline
I hope MK1 makes Sindel a good and loving character again. The retcon in this game is fucking atrocious.

Shang Tsung didn't take Raiden and Fujin's souls, he merely stole their youth/essence. He said it himself when talking to Shao Kahn and Sindel afterwords... Liu Kang's legs were broken but he wasn't killed so Fusion Liu Kang wouldn't disappear from either timeline
Fire God Liu Kang has become a fixed Point, so anything that happens to other Liu Kang's won't affect him.
The moment Liu Kang became a Fire god that event became a Fixed Point, he was a fixed point. So, change before or after that fixed point doesn't affect Fire god Liu because the merge already happened making Liu independent of those changes before & after that time or any time.
I just wish we get to see the Great Kung Lao in MK1, like y can't Kung Lao ever catch a break and at least become the chosen one in the new timeline? I don't mind if he isn't and Raiden is chosen (cause whatever) but I hope he has a bigger role in the new game than being shoved to the side. Liu Kang has always been the chosen one, and Fire God Liu Kang is badass but I wish at least once Kung Lao was the main character
Lot of people got upset over Sindel being retconned to evil. Honestly didn't mind it myself. Feels more like she was once a kind, loving Queen who was enamored by the violence and conquest Shao Khan spread.
I mean, there have been kind rulers before who eventually found violence and bloodshed to be to their liking and ended up as tyrants.
Sindel’s story was retconned this game. She’s always been aligned good CONSISTENTLY throughout the MK franchise since her introduction.
NRS only recently made her switch and their reasoning was “she looked like a villain so we made her a villain.”
I remember in MK 9 Shao Kahn stated that he couldn't invade Earthrealm because of SIndel's protective spell or some kind. that's why he ordered Quan Chi to resurrect her so he could have her under his control. the retcon doesn't really make sense from continuity perspective.

Sindel being evil is one of the most hated retcons in mk history. The fans absolutely hated it. In the original timeline prior to mk 9 sindel loved her daughter and first husband aka king Jerrod. After shao Kahn conquered edenia she enslaved sindel and put her in a mind control. After breaking out of it in the original timeline she sacrificed herself to save kitana.

@@BaulFoodmanedits, The story of MK8 is the only one that can be completely ignored in MK11's timelines because the story wouldn't change if MK8 didn't existed. Before MK11, MK8 was only canon to the Injustice universe not to MK's universe. Now MK8 can be considered one of the timelines shown in MK11 when Raiden is fighting Liu Kang, but MK8's story still doesn't matter overall.
To explain it to you Liu Kang was able to trap himself in the void, which is beyond time, which protects him from the paradox where raiden never merged with liu kang so liu kang probably had a few minutes to battle Shang tsung before he disappeared and luckily he made the new era just in time.

Sindel is the ultimate example of hypergamy
Once Liu Kang attained Godhood, the normal rules of time did not apply to him. Additionally, he was at the dawn of time where time did not exist yet
1) The Fire God Liu Kang was from a different timeline - the events that happened in the post aftermath timeline does not the impact the pre aftermath timeline.
2) That was Kung Lao's ancestor, the Great Kung Lao, at the end of it - that statue which Kung Lao was polishing in the end scene is the same statue that Kung Jin tried to steal from Raiden's Temple in MK X.

I don't know if any of you will read this, but I have a long answer to your question as to why and how Liu Kang showed up in the end.
It's actually simple:
He used the power of Kronika's hourglass from his timeline (from the very beginning of the Aftermath storyline) to travel to the timeline where Shang Tsung is.
The hourglass is able to show you the most possible outcome of the main timeline, see alternate timelines, timeline travel, time manipulation, etc.
But to create or to reset an entire Timeline or "Era" requires the power of Kronika's Crown.
I want to point out but I love that fujin knew it was shang tsung but it was part of the plan for liu kang for shang to win
Things are a bit weird and confusing, but basically ever since Shang, Fujin, and Nightwolf went back in time, they were pretty much in a completely different timeline from before. So since Fire God Liu was from a different timeline, and the fact that he was at the dawn of time while Shao broke Young Liu’s legs, he was unaffected
at least i believe he’s from a different timeline. It would make sense.
Character endings are worth checking out and the alternate ending too

Sindel does feel like a really annoying retcon. The whole reason she originally died was because she didn't want Shao kahn to have earthrealm. Hopefully in the reboot its explained as a temporal anomaly of the 9/10/11 timeline
it is. Devs confirmed it on a stream they did after Aftermath released I think.

Liu Kang is not only a god, but in possession of the hourglass after he deposed Kronika. He exists independent of whatever happens to his mortal versions, and it tracks the whole way through that gods exist outside the normal laws of time that affect mortals (Raiden and Fujin not being frozen whenever Kronika shows up, Liu Kang not getting rewound like Kitana and Kung Lao when he fought Kronika the 1st time, Kronika stating that she can't ignore Liu anymore because he's an immortal, etc). It's also established that he can send people back to the past, he just can't reset the entire timeline without the crown.
He was looking at and watching Shang Tsung the whole time, that's why Shang said "YOU let me win." That was the destiny he made for Shang Tsung, and when it was time to act, he went back himself to stop Shang from resetting the timeline (that was what the conversation with Fujin was about at the beginning of the whole ordeal). Not a plot hole, just details spread out amongst the saga.

i forgot to point out in the other videos(for anyone not familiar, if you are familiar you already know and thus this is not for you) shang tsung here is modeled after tagawa, hiroyuki. he's the actor that played shang stung in the mortal kombat movie. and he's also the voice actor for shang tsung in this game. he was a great choice.

The reason why Fire God Liu Kang was not affected by his past self dying unlike the Bad Raiden was because after he is currently in the VOID Outside of TIME where he had his Final battle with Chronika in the previous Time Loop. So currently we have 2 Timelines existing concurrently in which Liu Kang becomes a God and in the other one he dies. Shang Tsung was trying to DELETE the Other Timeline by taking Control of the HourGlass thinking that Fire God Liu Kang cannot travel back himself while he sent others through the Hour Glass in his own Timeline. That's why Shang Tsung was surprised when Fire God Liu Kang travelled back himself to Stop Shang Tsung from Deleting / Overwriting Fire God Liu Kang's Timeline via the HourGlass. Got Jany.....Got It Achara babe
To my understanding with the ending of aftermath, Fire God Liu Kang was not affected by what happens to liu kang during aftermath because he was in a different timeline, as Raiden earlier in Mk11 explains that there are many timelines. Liu Kang sending shang tsung back in time was sent him to a different timeline, and that Liu Kang arrived at the end to that timeline to beat Shang Tsung so he can reset time completely

One of NRS's retcons that was almost universally hated was Sindel always being evil and not just brainwashed. I hope they stepped their game up writing-wise in MK1.
One positive is that it was refreshing to have the bad guys win in story mode for once.
In mk 1 mileena is Khan and she thinks kitana is trying to take her throne so maybe sindel will help her daughters make up

One of people’s big problems with MK11 is that it retconned Sindel as having always been evil (OG timeline she is what we have heard, good but brainwashed into evil)

They just pulled Sindel always being evil out of their rears... Why did Sindel stop Kahn from invading Earth if she were always evil?
It’s just a bad retcon, I don’t know the reason why but it was one of the dumbest moves they’ve made, Sindel & Shao Kahn’s power trip segment felt like an awful filler episode to any fans

Well it can all easily be explained I think. Quan chi decided it would be easier to control Shao Khan if he killed Sindel and used her life as a spell to block Shao khan entry to earthrealm. He then lied about Sindel's death to Shao Khan. The back and forth in MK9 where Quan Chi asks Shao khan if he ever wondered why Sindel sacrificed herself, then Him replying that even after all these years the reason still eludes him makes a lot more sense if we consider Sindel was always evil.

Taven is the main protagonist from Mortal Kombat Armageddon, son of Argus. He is a basically a demigod,. His brother is called Dagon and their half-brother is Rain (the purple ninja).
So that wasn’t the modern Kung Lao but it’s his ancestor the Great Kung Lao who first defeated Shang Tsung

That was the Great Kung Lao the first champion of MK and first hero and savior of Earth realm. We know this bc that green dragon was the family heir loom Kung Jin tried to steal back from his “Great ancestor”. Present Kung Lao is his reincarnation so they’re nearly identical, but personality wise they’re completely different people. That’s also Liu Kangs ancestor so it’s like seeing his Grandpa but great great great great Grandpa lol

The Kung Lao showed at the end of Aftermath is not the modern Kung Lao, but his & Liu Kang's ancestor. Liu confirms this when he says that the Great Kung Lao is humble, unlike the Kung Lao he once knew (that being the modern Kung Lao). Liu Kang basically reset the timelines, and now looks to redo the destiny of the Great Kung Lao. As for Fire God Liu Kang's unaffected by revenant Liu Kang's injury, I'm sure various people in the chat have explained it, but the reason why he wasn't injured was because he was made a god due to Raiden's merger.
This was established by Raiden early on during his confrontation w/ Kronika, and later on in Aftermath when Fujin was also unaffected by Kronika's time magic. The writers did a fairly good job in playing within the rules they set, I just think Jaby might not've been paying close enough attention. I would say if there was any spot where the writers dropped the ball, it was them virtually leaving old man Johnny Cage out of the remainder of the story after he was shot in the leg by Kano. Even in Aftermath, we saw his younger self, but didn't see his older self at all.

@52:46 to try and respond to what you're saying, As Shang Tsung explained, Fire God Liu Kang waited at the Dawn of Time for all the Aftermath events to play out. Much like Shang Tsung, Fu Jin and NightWolf weren't affected while in the Void, I'm assuming where Fire God Liu Kang was works the same way. Because he was outside of time when the Aftermath version got killed/absorbed, it didn't affect him. 🤔
Liu Kang was both at the edge or outside of time and was now a god so like Raiden he is affected different by time magic. So Kronika's hourglass and the paradox system they set up wouldn't effect him. Most likely because his past 2 selves were still human at the time. If they became a new Fire God Liu Kang it would probably erase our Liu Kang like it did Dark Raiden.
If you enjoyed this series, you absolutely have to watch the cutscenes for Injustice: Gods Among Us. It's the same studio and i believe writing team except it's with the DC characters. Imagine all of this same level of quality except it's about Batman and Superman
