- This is just an updated version of a video that I did a few weeks back on recognising precursors to blade weapon access before deployment! Had the opportunity to shoot the video in much better quality so thought I'd share it here!

While doing the doors we were removing a group of guys. At the door one kicked off with me, as I grabbed him I got turned around. After a few seconds I lost what I can only describe as my will to fight. We got them out and closed the door. I literally doubled over.
One of his friends behind me stabbed me in the kidney.
I never had anything behind me after that other than a hard surface or another doorman. That put me in hospital for a week.
We don't always see it coming.
Anyone after that who put their hand out of our sight was grabbed at the arms and wrist.
Never taking that chance again. I'd rather say sorry than have a knife pulled again

These law restrictions you describe are to the detail the same in the country of CANADA, more-so in the province of QUEBEC. Therefore this video is extremely applicable to our highly constrained environment. To this point, thank-you for this video.

Any government that would impose laws that stop a man or woman from self defense is not worthy of our support. As they say, better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.
A jury of ur piers may excuse ur weapons possession if you act totally responsible.
It happened near NY. An ex boxer ex con was attacked. He shot the attacker with an illegal pistol. Gave himself up and got probation after many months of jail.
For travel to non-permissable environments (ie UK) a self-defense minded person could use a metal pen clipped to a pocket or shirt where it can be accesses with either hand.
Priceless wisdom. Thank You, you probably saved more lives than you will ever know Sir.

A new way to conceal a knife or box cutter is with the smartphone and the thumb. Handy for entering clubs with wand metal detectors as they can raise their arms above their head.

Arms crossed. A small weapon can be hidden in the hand and behind the other arm or armpit with arms crossed and a blade is poised for a slash or stab.

I have a tactical pen with me, with that kind of flip in my pocket. I can carry it legally in Germany and it is not a to lethal weapon but can do a lot of damage to an aggressive subject if necessary ... if I do not blitzkrieg or cover- crash it 😉

so would a walking stick be legal, or only if you have a valid medical reason? What I mean is, as far as I know, it's legal to carry a walking stick, but if you were in a situation where you had used it against a knife threat, are you likely to face prosecution? Good info except the UK law on permissible knives... it is not 3.5 inches limit, that will get you charged for "an offensive weapon". Gov website, "[illegal to] carry any knife in public without good reason, unless it has a manual folding blade less than 3 inches long". And yeah, we have thought crime in the UK. Just thinking about using for self defense something you carry is illegal. Literally thinking about using anything you carry is banned. And the sheople support it, forgetting that before WW2 most British boys carried a small knife and yet they were not used in fights [except for city gangs of course].
Before you think about an encounter, think about clothing. Heavy woollen overcoats or tough leather long coats and jackets. Motorcycle jackets can be weaponized with heavy chains. Most villians dont have sharp blades, but all the clothing I have mentioned resists many knife attacks or at least lessens the physical damage received.

I saw a video on you tube where this young black guy feared for his life in London. So he wears chain mail under his shirt.
Most people would have no chance against someone with a knife even if you are trained fighter
