We take a deep dive into the Fender '57 Custom Deluxe and get to know this high-end amplifier a little better! Fender '57 Custom Deluxe - bit.ly/3FR8v8s
Beautiful sounds and a great, comprehensive demo. It’s also nice to see a fellow nail/fingertip player. It’s surprising how few of us use the “invisible pick” method. I’d be willing to bet most people wouldn’t even realize he wasn’t using a pick.
Great video! Nice to watch you getting all those tones out of this amp. I have had a ´57 Custom Deluxe now for a couple of years now, and I love it! The only thing that doesn't show in your video is that this little 12W beast is a pretty loud amp. If you try to play it at home, fully cranked up neighbors will start to hate you. And even some band members will tell you to turn it down, ´cause they can't hear themselves playing. An attenuator is not a bad idea, if you have an amp like this. That said... but it sounds great cranked! In fact it stops getting louder after 3 (the volume pot goes to 12), it just gets more saturated and compressed. One more important thing for me, that has to carry my own stuff is that it is, a pretty light amp (11,8 kg). Compare that to a small Fender Blues Junior that weighs 14,3 kg! The price tag is pretty high, but this amp will bring joy to you for a lifetime. And you should have tried it out with a Blackguard Tele, they sound great in these tweeds!
Cool video. Interesting to see someone who has never messed around with a Deluxe work their way around the controls. There are SO MANY different tones you can pull out of that amp, it's insane.
Tone 9, Instrument Volume 4, Mic Volume 9. Guitar into instrument and jumper instrument 2 to mic 1. That’s a pretty dirty setting but if you want more headroom just unplug the jumperer cable. Tele, Strat, LP all sound amazing. Learn to use the guitar volume and tone controls as your main “effects” but most importantly your fingers. Touch sensitivity is a major factor with this amp. My favorite amp. Glad you guys got to demo it. Great playing too. I enjoyed. Thanks.
Would be a smart thing to have an ab switch in line with that jumper cable. Clean/dirty channel. And of course use the guitar controls to get all the shades in between. Of course you could get much of the same effect by patching and just using the guitar controls, but a footswitch could be a nice addition to some.
Thanks for this demo of the 57 Tweed Deluxe. You gave me exactly what I needed. Good job. 👍 And, the strat I enjoyed as well. BTW, I have had many of both, and I appreciate good effort and enthusiasm. Carry on ..... friend.
Awesome playing, great amp I have an EC Tremolux but wish they included the instrument/ mic function also as you demonstrated some great variances in tone. Well done…..subbed
you do very good relevant demos. Focussing on the sound, variations and how the amp really works and not trying to show of your guitar pyro techniques. Well done
I'm feckin buying one. Love my 57 custom champ but it's optimized at about 3.5 as far as that touch, edge of thing.... This seems like about a grand$ worth of more of that? Hopefully
Got one of these beasts a few weeks ago. I have mine set going into Instrument 1 with the tone on 9, instrument volume anywhere between 7 and 9.5 and the mic volume at zero. Throw a tubescreamer type pedal in front of it and its hours of fun. It responds to different pickups like no other amp. its insane. I've also put a Keeley Katana v1 in front of it which is also incredible. I'm yet to find a band sound out of it. Well.....unless you ask the neighbours. I dont think they're fans
@@snowtube6739 ahhh. Same here. Love it. I don’t play favorites because I look at amps like I do guitars. Every one has things they’re good at. But I do find myself plugging into my deluxe more than the others.
The mic channel and the instrument channel work best in opposite directions as you turn one up higher you partially turn the other one way down to like 3 or 4 and the other channel goes up 7 or higher and vice versa even when jumped into both channels for more saturation. once you figure out where you desire it from there you understand how to work the 5e3 circuits.
You’ll notice the hole where the tremolo bar would go, has a sticker over it. I’m guessing they want to keep that sticker there for whom ever buys the guitar.
@@JoelPerez-le2jc just want to say anyone can put any sticker that’s been taken off a trem hole back on again. People do it all the time trying to act as though the guitar is so clean it should be more expensive because…. There’s a sticker lol
Um, you've said here "a pair of 12AY7's" at one point, and then later-on, you've said "a 12AX7 as well"??? There's only two preamp tubes, so which is it? The reason I ask, is because Fender themselves seem to be a bit confused. On their own official website, they state 12AY7 + 12AX7, but on their official inside-the-cabinet sticker, they say a pair of 12AX7's. Color me confused! And dude, if you want a tremolo effect, then just put a whammy war on the freakin' Strat.
Yes, believe it or not, people would sometimes plug mics into amps back in 1957, considering there were no portable PA systems you could buy to set up in your garage to sing through. Try singing over an electric guitar and a drummer at rehearsal sometime.

Best amp in the world
Solid video. Thanks for the run through.

Man, that Performer sounded so good through the amp. I'm going to have to try that myself now!

Two 12AY7s plus a 12AX7? Does that mean the preamp stage has been modded from the original 5E3 circuit?

Sounds great!!! Except for the moc clipping
moccasin?
They make a trem arm for those subtle flutters. Just FYI. It's much easier than pushing down directly on the bridge itself. Leverage > no leverage
Yes yes a trem arm.
You went the sleeve tats. Not many doing that these days.
How much does the deluxe weight?
for you?? 26
can i get good result usin this amp wirh helix floor ?
Micke!!!
There is a bar you can put on that guitar. It’s called a whammy bar. Imagine that!
no. they dont make those anymore

ALOT of players hard tail their Strats including myself.

Overdriving mic pre. Does not help the demo.
Annoying
To be honest, I liked it. Get a life.
These tatoos are aweful. How can you do such massacre to your body...
Different strokes for different folks. Get a life!
