I quit using my fish cooker, and started using cast iron skillet. The golden crispies, are really golden crispies. More control with the skillet!

A recent bass I cooked had no flavor, it was like trout, but not as tasty as trout, which is just barely... but it was fish! I use my grandpa's filet knife. The blade used to be about an inch wide and now it is closer to 3/4 since it has been sharpened so many times. It chops celery better than my chef knives, too. gets right down between the skin and the meat and peels it off clean, nothing wasted. Thanks, Grandpa. and Thank you for the tip about the full moon. Early morning is the best time for bass in summer around here. Your editing makes these videos really good. And your passion for fishing.

I have a Hula Popper that I bought in 1972. Used it only once. I have so many Classic Lures since the early 70's that I haven't used yet. No boat and being Retired/Disabled from South Carolina Law Enforcement, it's very hard to find a place to fish from land. I even have a new Lew's Bait Casting Reel that I haven't used. I told my Wife Sandy, that if I ever get to go Fishing, I have four Tackle Boxes full of Lures. I only caught one Bass so far and it was a baby.

The big white bass are under the smaller ones at the surface looking for the smaller ones to injure the shad. Use Mister Twister Sassy Shad 2,5", pearl colored, die the tails chartreuse with Spike-it Dip-n-glo. Use 1/4 Oz head, cast out, count 10-15 seconds to let it sink, reel in moderate rate. Boom, big white bass.

White bass is such an underrated fish. So fun to catch when you hit a school of them and they taste awesome! When you filet them, I leave that last 1/16th of an inch on the skin to leave the bloodline on it so it's not too fishy when you cook them. Surprisingly, the meat is firm, yet flakey and light, unlike crappie which can be too flakey if not cooked right. I just love the taste when they are breaded in a seasoned mix. Gosh darn it! Now I wanna go catch some for dinner. I blame you! Lol

MTB has terrible service and constantly lie. I have been waiting 3 weeks for my order. I will never buy their junk again. Plus the mtb box is filled with lures and colors that do not sell. They inflate msrp pricing on their box. You can buy the lures cheaper individually from online dealers

You season the fish, bread it and if you add more seasoning you do it right after it comes out of the oil. To much heat burns the Garlic and makes it really bitter. That is why you have the oil thermometer. Frying fish that size would be 325 degree range.

Are your White Bass ever fishy tasting?
Maybe not so when they are smaller/young fish.
Seems like most of the White Bass I have ever caught, was during the Spring spawn, and were mostly big females; some up to about 2 lbs.
Cant say I have ever tried to fish for them back out in the main lake, though I have caught them there from time to time.
We would have to cut the red meat line off of the outside center or the filet to reduce the extreme fishiness taste.
Grew up in NW Arkansas (Fayetteville) fishing on Beaver Lake. The white bass would run up into the arms of White River to spawn in Spring.
Boats and Fishermen everywhere; many more on the bank than in John Boats. The river had a lot of shallow shoals up in river spawning areas; to shallow for a modern day bass boat.
We would slay them fishing with live crawdads on the bottom! Catching the crawdads was kinda fun also!
We would sane flooded roadside ditches and Spring rain flooded farm lowlands with nets, scoop them "crusty crawlers" up by the hundreds sometimes!!
White Bass preferred the soft shell crawdads about an inch and a half long.
Ahhh, those were the Days! Life was just, well, Simple and Fun!
One could be in fishing Heaven with a couple thousand $ John Boat, a couple K-Mart "Blue Light Special" fishing rods, a package full of hooks, split shots, some bobbers and whatever natural bait one could dig up or catch.

    • @josetellez1803
      @josetellez1803 5 років тому

Some people don't like the flavor it has since most of the blood is around the skin and when you take skin the fish, it takes that blood off. It also makes the cleaning process easier because you don't have to take off the scales
