    Just ordered the seat concepts. Can’t wait to receive it. OEM seat I think is just a covered 2x4!

    Many of us change oil based on hours, not miles. The first oil change was after the first hour, so it will be interesting to see what your screens look like after 100 miles. Guys who ride their bikes hard will change their oil and filter every 10 hours. I like doing my every 25 hours. I also replaced my in-tank fuel filter at 50 hours; most people recommend replacing the first filter at 60 hours and then 150 hours after that. Have fun with your new KTM. They are both high maintenance and tons of fun.

      Thank you for the feedback. I do plan to go by hours and not miles in the future. My dealer sells a lot of these bikes and races AA enduro and Baja. He told me 100 miles for the first so I'm going by what he said. They also suggested I replace the small filters in the fuel line every 15 hours as well.

      @@chasingtrail I often refer to my KTM (23 Exc-f 500) as my Harley of the dirt. I lost the retaining fastener for the kickstand spring on the third dirt ride. Apparently, this issue has been addressed on the 24, but very common on the pre-24 bikes but.would put red lock-tight on the 24 bike just to be safe.
      I have owned many bikes over the years, and it is not the dealership or dealership owner who touches your bike. Whenever possible, establish a solid relationship with the person touching your bike. Ideally, this is you. You can take the time and learn and understand your bike as much as possible, and with all the great UA-cam references out there, anything this side of a rebuild can be done at home.
      For several years I had a great mechanic for the Harley I owned and an understanding with the dealership owner, Steve Drane, that only Casey would touch my bike, and I would work within their schedule to ensure to make that happen. When Casey retired and then Steve sold the dealership, I really started to get hands-on with my Harley and it was the best decision I could make. Like KTMs, HD do require lots of attention, the only question is, who are you going to pay to provide that attention.
      Unlike my Goldwing, Tiger 800 and WR250r, Our KTMs require a ton of inspection and hands on time. This is a lot of money to the dealership, and if the mechanic is rushed and is expected to bill for 16 hours for every 8 hours of work, which is not uncommon, then doing your own work is often a solid return on your investment.
      BTW you mentioned vibration in the video. For me, it has never been an issue or concern. However, have family and friends riding on the WR I will let them try out the 500 on pavement and I will jump back on my WR, the WR is much smoother at highway speeds the the 500. However, if someone really wants that level of comfort on the highway, get a Wing or a Tiger! :)

      @@richardconnolyThanks for all the great feedback. I do try to do all my own maintenance. A couple years ago I could barely do an oil change, but now there's not much I'm not afraid to tackle. As you said, there are many great resources to guide us these days. It's taken me some time to acquire the necessary tools but there's a lot I can do on my own now.
      The vibration doesn't bother me but it's something I see asked often so I wanted to provide my own thoughts on it. Thanks again for all the tips!

    7:45 That drone piloting at the end is NEXT LEVEL X-D (at least we didn't end up with it in a tree) Hey, You can lay the gopro audio over the drone footage. pretty easy in Davinci (thanks again for recommending it to me)

    How’s the EXC 500 compared to the 430 you had? Which would you say is a better street bike and Supermoto bike?

    • @chasingtrail
      @chasingtrail  29 днів тому

      KTM for street. Pretty comparable off-road. Something about the KTM chassis feel and geometry made it feel really good on the street though, other than the vibration through the footpegs. It vibrates a lot. Once you get used to that though, I think it would be a blast as a supermoto.

    I see you got rid of the Beta. Any reason why? How was bike overall?

    • @chasingtrail
      @chasingtrail  8 місяців тому +1

      Got rid of it to get an ADV bike. Don't read too much into it, I go through a lot of bikes. I get bored quickly and want to ride them all. The Beta was good, no complaints.
      The only knock I'll give the Beta is resale value, it's shit. I had a hard time selling mine and I've seen the same thing with others. My buddy has been trying to sell his 2022 430 RR-S for months at a massive loss and nobody is buying it. People just don't know the brand or something. When I sold my previous KTM and sold another KTM for a friend, they sold very quickly, and for minimal loss. If you know you're going to keep it a long time then I can easily recommend it. If you're like me and go through bikes, pickup a lightly used one for a huge discount.

    So I just ordered a molecule skid plate for my 2022. What was so difficult about mounting it?

    • @chasingtrail
      @chasingtrail  7 місяців тому

      The first minor annoyance was one of the bolt holes was too small for the bolts to go through, so I had to dremel it out. The bigger annoyance is the way the skid plate mounts to the front of the bike with a provided bracket. Getting everything to line up properly was difficult. However, getting the skid plate off and back on the 2nd time was much easier. Also, yours may mount differently as the 2024 has a new frame.
