Thanks for uploading these. My wee mum would be so pleased if she could see me now, she loved her Corrie. I watched it occasionally when it was on with mum but I was never an avid viewer. Started watching the 1970s episode's and got hooked......not loving these ones as much though but I might just watch it up to when Bet leaves :-).

Michelle Holmes who played Tina (who’s had a successful career in film, tv and theatre since Coronation Street) remains friends with Billy Ivory who played Eddie. In fact, Michelle appeared in several projects written and created by Billy Ivory (including Common as Muck) as he’s become a very successful film & theatre writer.

@@EveHenleySpread They were part of the same cast from August 1983 to December 1983. The actor who played Albert last appeared then and was due to return in late April 1984 but died at the end of March 1984 and never got the chance. Though it was obvious by 1983 he wasn't long for this world as he looked very frail and it was becoming hard to understand what he was saying and he was shuffling when moving about.
One thing I do like about this era (apart from it almost being a masterpiece compared to the rubbish it is now).is hearing music of the time - good memories. Also, there are more scenes away from the Street, adding to the realism. With Corrie, I find the further back I go, the more I appreciate it. I think my earliest 'live' Corrie memories are Ernest B being shot, and Ray going to the Netherlands, leaving Deirdre and TracyLuv behind.
I agree with you there i.e. the further back you go, the better it is! I've found myself just casually watching 1980/81 at the weekend and marvelling at what a masterpiece it was (the drearly Tilsleys aside)! Glad we're still able to enjoy it on here for now! ;-)

3 out of 4 hours of deirdre boo hoo hoo hoo hoo hoo hoo! 3 hours of perfectly calm, composed, sensible Ken. I think I know which character I prefer. I also know which character I would want raising my own children if indeed, I had children and it would never, be moaning Myrtle.
This is brilliant compared to the nonsense stories of today
Love when Rita pretends she’s got something in her eye when she’s dying to laugh! She did it when Mavis’s budgie died too, when Mavis and Derek said about giving it a private burial, in the Rovers! Even Bet was struggling to keep a straight face 😂
I love Mavis, but Rita taking the piss out of Mavis over the years is nothing short of brilliant.
@@Kay_Watermelon Oh, absolutely! Some of their exchanges were absolute gems! A favourite of mine was when Rita, about Derek, mimicked Mavis perfectly, going “Tell him I’m not in!” Then, in exactly the same tone of voice, Mavis retorted “I don’t talk like that!” 🤣
Thank goodness we now know better - it’s awful to see how Deirdre expects Tracey to be hostile to Wendy and Ken just because she’s hurt, as though a father-child relationship means nothing 😢 This storyline didn’t age well. Thanks for posting these eps! ❤
Percy's telling Mavis moving Harriet to a new house could finish her off, but he moved Randy from his old place to his flat, then to Emily's House, so...
Yep and the original Randy died and Emily replaced him with a lookalike unbeknownst to Percy!

Is Tracy's name Tracy or Tracyluv, lol. Why do they bring in new people that you automatically dislike. I love the old episodes far better than what it is today but I couldn't stand that Steph or Des.
Ugh, I was thinking the same about new characters. Who the hell are this new couple who just landed on the street and are interjecting themselves in everything and stirring the pot?! Couldn't stand them from the off.

Ken payed little to no attention to his own kids , but fawns over Tracy …… in my opinion , … it’s to triangulate her . No wonder Tracy , ended up a neurotic Narcissist . Horrible to everyone , braking up marriages, and only loving herself . Kin acts superior to everyone . He acted that way with his own parents when he was young . Just because he went to collage .

The storyline between Des, Steph and Kevin is as naff as hell. What grown man would allow another man's wife to do that.
To be fair, I always thought that mustache was ridiculous. Now, seeing him without it, I'm not sure if I'm wrong or not.

Yes a few tragedies hit the "odd" side...but we had Val Barlow's death, the factory fire that killed Fred Gee's first wife, Ernest Bishop 's death...and of course the tragedies that were to come on that side.....the budgie dying was the portent of things to come.
That Des and Steph. Where do you start!? His voice/accent to begin with. And her thinking she's a ride when she's actually rotten looking. The fact that Des is not bothered in the slightest at his missus openly telling him what she plans to do with Kevin because it's "a game" yet wanted to flatten Mark when he had the most innocent of attempts at her. None of this pair make sense.

I didn't like RIta and Gail laughing at the fact Mavis was off sick because her budgie died. That was very unnecessary and really quite callous, in my opinion. Out of character for Rita, I'd have thought.

This was around about the time I started watching Corrie (the "Tracy's in her room listening to tapes/Deirdre's perm" era) with my mad Irish grandma, I think she thought it was a documentary. I'd ask her what she'd been up to, and she'd tell me that Steve McDonald had started a chip pan fire, or some such. Ah, great days.

I watched coronation street on cbc as a teenager. Got married moved to a part os America where it wasn’t on. Was so excited to watch from the very start. Now I’m in 1990 and I’m very quickly losing interest. It is becoming unwatchable. Egad!

1:02:26 - For just a few seconds, I did feel genuinely sorry for Tarty Tina, but she'd have soon got bored with marriage to Lunkhead Eddie. She always came across as a girl on the make, her eye on "bigger, better, richer" rather than someone who'd be content with step-motherhood and washing nappies and builders' togs. Also the glare from her forehead is so distracting, almost makes me reach for my sunglasses every time she's on screen.

I remember my little holland lop rabbit being my flat mate when I was studying in uni. She really cheered me up during long revision sessions :) she's going on in age now, but she's very cute.
