Late 2010s were already shite but 2020s took it to another level. They underuse all the classic legacy characters and give us new randoms nobody cares about (oh no who kidnapped Lauren...). No disrespect to the new actors they're all fine, but the writing is terrible now. I mean look at Peter and Tracy leaving Corrie - two classics who were meant to keep the Barlows relevant.
That was classic Corrie at its best, the combination of Blanche, Deirdre and Ken and then when Peter Chirps in "no wonder I drink " absolutely brilliant 😂😂😂
"They say...that alcohol loosens the tongue. Well you must've took ten to the dozen with that drink inside ya. Or did you get tanked up...." MOTHER! What? Don't be so rude! Well I think it needs telling!
I laughed all through this. I remember watching this episode and thinking how my grandparents were so much like them. RIP Anne and Maggie. We will never forget you both.
Blanche is hilarious as always. Love the bit when she says there like a pair of swingers! Still can't believe we will never see Deidre again😢 This was probably Blanche's greatest scene.
Don't think there was a better 10 mins of Corrie than this pure gold ..I loved it and miss the fabulous Blanche and Deidre so talented and funny ...WONDERFUL !!!
"Well, it didn't make Tracey hit the bottle." "No, but it made her hit her boyfriend with a blunt instrument." "My sister's inside for murder!" wonderfully written!
This is such a fantastic scene. Beautifully written and acted ! I love it when Deirdre announces she needed a drink I cracked up😂 it is a shame we dont see more of this type of story on the Street instead of endless pregnancies, prison visits and hospital stays. Rip Anne and Maggie
"Wait till you try bingo - you'll hyperventilate." "Careful - she'll be coming on to you next." "And I'm not comfortable with your halitosis." These three quotes just made my day! I nearly hyperventilated with laughter watching this! X'D
Tapor - Yes, dead right. The trouble is, there's so little quality comedy in it nowadays - having said that, Sally Yasmeen Abi and Gail drunk in the Rovers last week were hilarious, as was the famous 'Platts in Tassels' scene last year.
Peter " Oh, you wouldn't like it, Blanche. It's just a load of peop,e sat 'round in a circle talking about their problems, that's all." Did Peter even KNOW Blanche?! 😂
Woman: "There seems to be a lot of residual anger flying around if you ask me." Blanche: "We didn't." Blanche: "No, but it made her hit her boyfriend with a blunt instrument!" Blanche: "Careful, she'll be coming on to you next!" Blanche: "I'm not totally comfortable with your halitosis!" ahahahahaha The best 10 minutes of corrie I have ever watched!
This has to be one of corrodes BEST 10 mins. Blanche was a great character always coming out with great one liners. For a character to never be in middle of a big storyline but still be so good is great.
Blanche - "Ken recently had an affair with an actress, oh it wasn't Nicole Kidman or Glenda Jackson, she lived on a tugboat" Ken - "It was a barge" Peter - "Is it any wonder why I drink" SO FUNNY!
@@TyMarshall007 so was I Ty Marshall ! Although I disliked Blanche as I thought she could say some really horrible and nasty things sometimes I actually thought some of her one liners were really funny. A similar character called Evelyn Plummer (played by Maureen Lipman) is in the show at the moment, but to a certain extent I miss Blanche as her actress Maggie Jones died unfortunately in December 2009 at the age of 75.
@@TyMarshall007 so do I Ty Marshall ! Anne Kirkbride who played Deirdre sadly died in 2015 of breast cancer. I was in shock, especially because she didn't publicly reveal her diagnosis, but I understand why she didn't reveal it, as she obviously wanted to maintain her privacy. I feel their deaths (both Maggie and Anne's) has left a void which can never be replaced ot filled.
The writing here is pure comedy genius with such great characters. Classic corrie that sadly isn't the same anymore. What was once a gritty, funny realistic Northern soap with great characters and first class plots/writing has become a dull, unrealistic bore of a soap with unforgettable characters and storylines.
I think Blanche, Deirdre and Ken were some of the main coronation street characters that have kept the soap going on for so long even now and that have kept the programme surviving for so long and they’re some of the main ingredients to the show which gave the originality and classic charm to it and they gave the show a certain euphoria I think with keeping viewers excited and it was “on the edge of seat” type of drama I think and for keeping people entertained too.
This era was golden and the acting and characters were brilliantly funny. Blanche is pure comedy gold rest her soul. Anne and Maggie were gems
This episode is billions times better than coronation street of 2020/2021
And trillions times better than the 2023/24 version!
2024 now and it just does not compare.
yep and better then 2024 aka now

haha so funny this episode
Oh for the days when we watched Corrie to laugh, not be educated 😂
😂😂😂 That line made me laugh so much lol
That was my favourite line they're like a pair of swingers
Goes to support Peter at an AA meeting and Deride says "I need a drink" lol
You would need a drink if you had to attend a AA meeting with all the self pitying depressing stories you have to hear
RIP Anne kirkbride and Maggie Jones. They were so funny😭😭😭😭
I miss them so much!
Absolutely wonderful women. A real loss to English television
so tragic...Anne was apparently the loveliest lady you could meet on set xxx
Absolutely hilarious...I have had enough..I need a drink!!

She was no non pc
My jaw hit the floor when Blanche asked "have you finished" 🤯 😂
Comedy gold! Yes, no other soap can beat it. The funniest bit is when they all say "Hi Ken"...... including Deirdre..!
This always cracks me up - Coronation Street's just not the same without Blanche. I love the look on her face at the end when she's in the chair lift!
Genius!! 😂
Evelyn is the new Blanche

Absolute genius. If there's a better 10 minutes of TV ever made i'll like to know about it.
why does deidre say "hi, ken"
Matthew Steel because she's pissed of that ken recently had an affair with an "actress", according to blanche
Is there a reason why Ken had an affair with an actress
He was tired of Chicken Kiev for tea!

They made Coronation Street ❤❤
Blanche is hilarious as always. Love the bit when she says there like a pair of swingers! Still can't believe we will never see Deidre again😢 This was probably Blanche's greatest scene.
Fun fact at 9:00 Peter put his head in his hands because the actual actor Chris Gascoyne was about to laugh.😂🤧

Cinematic masterpiece. So many parts. The loose women. The slow descent on the stair lift. “I don’t normally have nut in my breakfast”

Brilliant! Blanche and her acerbic wit are sorely missed 😄
For years I thought Coronation Street was a serious adults programme and now I realise that it is a dark comedy.. And its a very good dark comedy.
Fluffy Corrie has always had a comical element to it, more so than any other British soap.
This show is entertaining
Deirdre's "Hi... Ken" gets me every time.
Good old Maggie Jones! This is the best Corrie scene ever! :p
I can watch this over and over and I still laugh as much as I did the first time I seen it

Everything about this is gold. I remember watching this episode at the time about mid to late 09. Without doubt Corries greatest ever scene.
Outside of comedies this is probably one of the funniest scenes in UK TV history
