I was absolutely privileged to be at this concert in Melbourne. The concert was my excuse to take out a pretty girl, whom I soon married, & we are still Elton lovers to this day. The best concert I've ever been to. Thanks for sharing these songs.
I saw him last week in Huntsville. He sang for three solid hours. Twenty-nine years after his amazing Sydney performance...He's still the greatest entertainer I have ever seen.
Not only do I just love this song but Elton's piano playing talents will never cease to amaze me! To see him play and to have the orchestra back him makes this video one of my very favorites!
I agree - this is incredible with the arrangement by James Newton Howard. When I first listened to it, I cried (age 15). Then I played it for my best friend on the phone: "That's Elton?!" Then, when my grandfather died, I played this over & over, crying, and my mother upstairs opened the door & asked me to play it again: "Tell Elton your 52 year-old mother approves." Thanks for sharing this.
I saw this concert on HBO in 1986, I loved it then and still love it today. I owned the cd for years, lost it somehow and now can't seem to find it in stores. I am going to have to order it off the net.
Elton mentioned that "BlueMoves" wasn't loved by the critics, but I'm really convinced that it's perfect in it's vararities and it's my personal favourites as well... ❤
I was there and I could tell it was Ray Cooper...as he is always 125milliseconds off time when he is due to come in! Ha ha. It both annoys me and endears him to me how he manages to do it all the time!
I saw him that same yaer (1986) at the Bercy in Paris. He opened the show with this number...the arena was dark while this was all being played and the audience was going bananas from the first note. One year later, I saw him again at the same venu, where he made an effort to speak French. Years later, I met him in Luxembourg, where he was shooting a vid. I told him how the French appreicated his efforts and he enjoyed the story. Pretty cool, eh?
What I love about this song is how it makes so poignant and beautiful a situation anyone would understand if you've been in a difficult and combative relationship,
Me gusta mucho "Sir Elton John ! " :-)
Thanks a lot for posting it! Although I'm a fan of Elton John's, I prefer George Michael's voice and his rendition at Rock in Rio. Nevertheless, I must confess I got goose bumps all over my skin listening to the instrumental part. AWESOME!!! It's even more beautifully orchestrated than in George Michael's cover. THIS IS SUCH A BEAUTIFUL SONG!!!
@MsChainsaw03 ...hi,inalso was lucky enough to hear elton perform tonight at sheffield city hall,uk in1983,again he dipped when it came to the really high notes but as its one of my fave elton songs it was stilla dream as i had no idea he was opening the set with it,did a few from blue moves as i recall.
true fact that cocaine and especially weed can fuck up your voice. Reg was doing coke then using scotch and a spliff to come down from it which, over time, can seriously hurt
His voice was shocking at this concert, it was almost bizarre that he pushed for this concert knowing his voice was really bad. I remember back in 1987 when the album came out, the radio stations were playing the live version of YOUR SONG from this concert alot, and I kept wondering why, since his voice was so bad.
It was the end of a 28 night tour and set up for not just the paying public but also for recording and radio broadcast. You can't just pull the plug on it

I think it’s a masterpiece from a pop rock musician.
One of the most beautiful pieces of music Sir Elton has written.
I saw him last week in Huntsville. He sang for three solid hours. Twenty-nine years after his amazing Sydney performance...He's still the greatest entertainer I have ever seen.
The critics are daft, tonight is a flowing work of art that has meaning to every soul that lets it in.
Not only do I just love this song but Elton's piano playing talents will never cease to amaze me! To see him play and to have the orchestra back him makes this video one of my very favorites!
this is one of my favorite elton concerts. i was born in 87 and watching this is one of my earliest memories. i will always cherish this performance.
Long have I been a fan of this brilliant man and while he has so many unbelievable songs, this is without a doubt my favorite.

I saw this concert on HBO in 1986, I loved it then and still love it today. I owned the cd for years, lost it somehow and now can't seem to find it in stores. I am going to have to order it off the net.

Gorgeous. Fantastic orchestra. I would love to see him on the Boston Pops show.

Always in my top 10 of favourite songs :-)
It's Elton as we new him in the 70's but with a heck of an arrangement! I would have given anything to be at this concert.
He is amazing. And stunning. And legendary.
Blown away on Coke, a raspy voice - honesty! And still dead bang balls on! Elton always brings it live!
Magnifique !!!
ELTON JOHN the best composer of all 900 in ENGLAND one of the best in the word!!!
Greatest Elton John 's song ever ! Although i'm not a Elton John 's fan

Thanks for posting this video. Finally after 23 years I know for sure that Ray Cooper did play with the orchestra on this song!

What I love about this song is how it makes so poignant and beautiful a situation anyone would understand if you've been in a difficult and combative relationship,

true fact that cocaine and especially weed can fuck up your voice. Reg was doing coke then using scotch and a spliff to come down from it which, over time, can seriously hurt
Versión demasiado larga
