- Adagio - Bach - Violin Sonata No. 1 BWV 1001
Performed by Tony McManus
Featured in this recording is the Greenfield G5, Also known as "Mini-G". Inspired by the C.F. Martin size 5 from the turn of the last century. this soprano guitar is great for fingerstyle players as well as singer-songwriters who like to play capoed at the 5th fret or higher. Because of its very small body size, the G5’s voice brings an exciting timbre to your music!
Information about the G5 model played in this video, as well as my custom order guitars, is available on my website at www.greenfieldguitars.com
Recorded with a KM-184 style mic and a PreMix-3 Sound Devices Recorder.
Bach compositions have the ability to remove the veil of the material world and transport one into the multi-dimentional spiritual world.
A lifetime's dedication summed up in one piece. Tony's articulation has a clarity, punch and deliberateness I will continue to strive for.
Mesmerising
So incredibly wonderful for both Tony and Michael, BRAVO!
Oh my. Brilliant. Just brilliant.
Another classical CD like the last one pleaseTony. We are hoping to see you back at The Spotted Mallard Brunswick Australia before too long - maybe a bit of a wait, I'm guessing. Always a spare scarf for you and yours if needed.
Tony's sense of timing..expression...is breathtaking.
Beautiful music, very skillful and sensitive performance, marvellous sound.

You are my hero!
Very fine work Tony
amazing how you can get this sound out of such a small thing👍🏻
Muito top
Hi Tony, I'm one of your many students. Love that piece - stunning playing, and that would make a nice little travel guitar.
I can't believe this body size can produce such sustain
Utterly fucking glorious
Hi Michael, I think I need a G5. Please bring one to the Holy Grail Guitar Show. I will buy it. Cheers and see you , Christian (proud owner of a GF and G2).
Litle guitar
I have a slightly larger G3 on order. It's almost a year away. Video's like this are not helping my patience.
3 months
At least you can afford one.
More time to save money for it😂
How's that guitar?
Very nice guitar. What is the scale length of this beauty?
does anyone have a tab on this version. Love Tony playing on this.
I tried writing it out.....it's very difficult to notate! contact me for more details.
Hello Mat, there is version on Classclef
@@MrPeterlowden of this version? can you send me a link?
Incredible, tuning ?
GDGCDG so basically DADGAD capoed at the 5th fret. I'm working on writing the transcription......long process!
What was his tuning for this piece? DADGAD?
transposed yes. GDGCDG. Transcriptions for all 4 movements of the Sonata are available from my site.
I have a couple of questions.... What tuning? ,,,and is that a Sure SM81 that you're using?
GDGCDG so DADGAD up a 4th. I've arranged the four movements of the sonata for this tuning.
Six Six Six
Is he playing that in DADGAD or regular tuning? (besides being up a fourth I mean).
Yup it's DADGAD up a fourth. Stay tuned: I have the other three movements in the same tuning!
@@mcmanustony thanks, it is really beautiful. Nice size guitar to travel with as well!
Well, I like to be picky, but I just can't fault this (neither the playing nor the guitar).
Shame about the reverb. I'd prefer to hear the guitar.
a few mistakes here and there, but the tone and feel is lovely.
So glad you noticed...
@@DaveN2012 While some us stand and admire the beautiful sunset, there are others who complain about the clouds.
ZeGypsy - Mistakes? HA! I never make mistakes. I thought I heard a mistake but I was mistaken. How about variations. Let's just enjoy the wonderful interpretation. Thanks
Lol literally where?
