A Dell Optiplex 9010 MT or 7010 MT will be able to maximize that I7 3770. It can support 32GB RAM(8Gb 1600Mhz x 4), a normal 2 fan GPU, and the motherboard supports a regular 24 pin power PSU, the only caveat on the last one is that it needs to be non-modular. Modular PSU's are too long and will bump into the side panel locking mechanism.

I have a i5 3570 and using it on my overkill XP retro PC.
Planning to upgrade it to i7 3770 as I have watched a video that it is faster with HT disable over i5 3570 because of the extra L3 cache,
I am still rocking the K one at 4.5Ghz to this day. Simply the best CPU of all time in terms of value. Nearly 13years old and still handles most things perfectly fine.
I run an I7 3770 with a 2060 plus and now with 32gb of ram because 16gb was not enough at times, but it runs at 100% most of the time on Farcry 6 and I am now just looking to upgrade. What processor would be a good upgrade and still use my DDR3 ram without spending a fortune on all new PC.
I have an i7-3770 paired with a 1660 super and 16gb ddr3. I don't know if it's my mechanical hard drives that are failing, but fortnite is completely unplayable, even on the performance preset. It gets good frames, but it stutters all the time. Like really bad stutters and super frequent. Neither my CPU or GPU is pegged in that scenario either, which is odd. GTA also doesnt run as well as it should with it dropping down into the 40s no matter the graphics settings. However i did install a game on one of my hdds the other day and it completely refused to load, so i put it on my boot ssd and it was fine... Maybe the drives are dying. Really odd.
What is the name of the motherboard that you are using in this video ?
still have a 3770, 16gb ram and a 1060 6gb, it runs everything
good stuff! my interpretation of the results is that not many games utilize hyperthreading very well fortnite and gta v being the exception here! nice video :)
Thank you! It does seem that way, but if the game didn't utilise the extra threads, performance varied a bit. Still I'd take the 8 threads any day😅
A Dell Optiplex 9010 MT or 7010 MT will be able to maximize that I7 3770.
I am using an Xeon E3-1240 that has the same performance as the i7 3770 in games and on another system an Xeon X5680 with some light OC to 3,8 Ghz.
Good video.
Would love to see if it can run CS2?
I made a video with the i7 2600 and that plays it. I’ve got a video with the i7 4770 releasing on Sunday. Both of these videos have CS-2 performance.
Still using an I5 6500 paired with a Gigabyte 1660 Super... things still running fairly good.
After switching to a personally rebuilt iMac for audio/video? I've got an i7 3770, i7 2600s, and i5 3470 I'm about to ebay list to sell off. Also got a 2 gb GTX 750ti that I legit salvaged from a curb binned Dell Optiplex 3010. I also pulled a Kinston 500gb SSD/8gb of ram/MB & PSU out of that one! Ha! Lucky score!
Lucky score right there and some nice hardware to play around with🙌
Also worth noting that you can be CPU limited without hitting 1% usage. A game can be cache or single core limited, but not saturating the entire chip 100%
amazing video i have the i5 3470 and i am planing to upgrade to i7 3770 so its really helpful
It's a quick and easy upgrade. If your performance is struggling in some games, it's worth the upgrade!
Worthit upgrade dari i5 gen3 ke i7 gen 3?
Subscribed for the Fallout New Vegas inclusion best SP game of all Time.
Fallout NV is a legendary game!
Also worth noting you can get intel made motherboards for these. The dk77mq is rock solid stable.
Bro how much of a performance boost can I expect upgrading from a i5-2500 to a i7-3700?
Up to 35%
you used molex to 8pin? is it safe?
I've used molex to 6 pin and it worked. But I still don't recommend using it
@@ProYamYamPC do you encounter blurriness on screen?
Does good gpu can increase the fps a lot? for example i use rx 6600 to handle bottleneck for cpu intensive games
no
I had an i5 4690s and upgraded to an i7-4790 both with a Radeon 470, and 32gb of ram, I bought everything used a bit at a time, got some good prices especially for the gigabyte board with 4 memory slots, you can make some pretty decent stuff if you learn a bit and shop around....
you could go up to a 3060 wih that 4790
@@vxllfire Thanks for letting me know, that is definitely worth thinking about...it's not a bad PC in the slightest...have a fun week! ;D
I noticed that your motherboard is a PCIe 2, try a PCIe 3 and run the test again.
is the GTX 1070 overkill for this CPU or will the bottleneck be not too bad?
I think it would be pretty bad on some games. But, it depends on what you play. I personally wouldn’t pair anything more powerful than an RX580/GTX 1060 with a 3770.
No. I had paired with my unclocked 3770K a RX 570 and MSFS would run choppy. Pulled the RX out and put in an RTX 2070 and the sim runs nice and smooth. Same RAM DDR3 32GB 1600mhz.
@@ProYamYamPC
@@jf4872 Unless you're playing 1440p/4K, you're pretty much bottlenecking that CPU at 1080p.
Not by a whole lot.@@Swattii
@@jf4872 By a lot. CPU is gonna be hitting 100 percent usage, especially in CPU intensive games like most FPS multiplayer games. Discord is gonna start bugging out and shit.
It pairs well with a 1660ti/ 1080ti and 16 gb of 2133 mhz.
I hear DDR3 2133MHz could cause some issues like BSODs. Obviously this depends on your memory controller's quality. But if you can run them speeds, go for it!
@@ProYamYamPC It does pretty well. I play fortnite usually and its a pretty cpu intensive game. My i7 3770k runs at 4.3 ghz on air with a noctua cooler. Temps are stable and most games run good but ive had to do a lot of tweaking. Quicker ram and oc helped quite a bit.
24/7 it has been overclocked to 4.3 ghz for about a year now. ive had the computer for about 7 years though and upgraded from an i5 2500 non k. I really feel intel did well with this generation. Very reliable

then i threw the cheapest ssd in i could find for windows and a 1tb hard drive. its got a 500w power supply.
Ive never had to replace anything in terms of rapairs just upgrades. its lasted me years and ill use it til it doesnt serve a purpose or breaks which i dont think it will any time soon.
Nice vid. I have an old i7 3770K OC@4.2 ghz since 2012 + GTX1080 + 16GB RAM + SSD. Just work fine, Hunt Showdown at 1440p, ultra, 60 fps. Just some difficulties with Hell let lose in 2k, in high details, fps drop at 40fps.... if u play in full HD at 1080p, you will have consistent fps at +70, without any drop. Conclusion: very efficient platform for this +10 years config !!! I will change of platform when i will be forced to play in medium details.... maybe 1 to 3 years. So...3500 $ for a new i7 platform wth Rtx 4080, does it woth it ? I don t think for the moment !
ah, and Half life Alyx in VR is ok. Medium details. Need to change platform for high details...but we are talking about one of the most greedy game . And it s in all case really great to be able to play Alyx with an old platform like this
It's amazing to see how well this gen has aged. A lot of people overlook the 3rd gen CPUs. But this i7 was a great investment back in 2012!
it sure can! i have one on a super basic asus board (h61) paired with a sexy asus 11gb 1080ti
i game on a i7 3770 with no slow downs or anything so i say its still good atm.
I rock an i5 4670K at 4.4 GHz. Runs well.
You could pair up to a GTX 1080 if playing at 1440p but the days are numbered on the 3770 with windows 10 support ending in 2025.
wait i7 3770 will not support windows 10 in 2025?

ive got spare itx build with 4770 16gb ram 500gb ssd and just need gpu like 1060 6gb

@@ProYamYamPC CSGO, Fornite, POE, GTA V, Lost Ark, Last Epoch
I have a 3770 in my htpc, disable spectre and meltdown fixes and it is so much better and the risks tiny.
Do you mean OS fixes or Bios?
In the CPU world. The i7-3770k is legendary material
I’m inclined to agree with you. It’s aged pretty well all things considered
modern games need a lot of cpu power. in the lowest settings 1080p 3770k cant reach 60fps for example rdr2, the last of us, uncharted etc i upgraded to 12400f and now gpu is 100% 3060 12gb
I've noticed with older and weaker CPUs, you have to tweak game settings by quite a bit. The goal is to make yourself more GPU bound, especially so with older CPUs
However, congratulations on the upgrade! I have the 12400F in my test bench and it's a great CPU
thanks! 40fps cap on higher settings or resolutuion is working well on many games... i will use 3770k as second pc for media player on 4k hdr tv with rtx 3050
I'm currently still running my i7 3770k non oc 16gbram 1600mhz rx580 8gb

You aren't working either of those CPUs enough with that RX 570, change it out for a RX580 or GTX 1660 Super and you might start to see a larger gap in some games.
A 4 thread CPU horrifically bottlenecks an RX 470. I believe an RX 470 (or similarly performing GPUs) is perfect for a 3rd gen CPU.
From this video it seems that paying 50$ or more to upgrade from a 4C/4T to 4C/8T is not worth it at all, and newer games are going to require at least 8 "real" cores to run smoothly, and faster single thread power, it's probably a better investment to purchase a new CPU or one of those old 8 core Xeons to re-use your DDR3 sticks.
I just checked the prices on ebay and yeah, for some reason i7-3770ks are like $50-$60 USD... I remember buying mine for like $12 dollars. A good new CPU would be the i3-12100.
