I bought this SSD last year and its a fast, reliable drive with great performance. I was playing Assassin's Creed Origins on my PC the other day and the game took about a total of 12 seconds to load. 6 seconds to load to the tittle screen and about 6 seconds to load into the game.

Nicely done review, as always. 👍😊 One day late for me, but it confirms my decision. Thank you. 😎 I ordered a Samsung 870 QVO 4TB SSD for AU$531 yesterday as my 2nd SATA Games SSD (the other is an 860 EVO 4 TB that cost a lot more 8 Months ago). I got the QVO because reviews (especially by StorageReview) showed it performed almost as well in most cases as the Samsung 870 EVO 4TB SSD which here in Australia is AU$729! I also use a Samsung 970 Pro 1TB M.2 NVMe SSD (boot: W10/Linux) and a Samsung 970 EVO Plus 2TB M.2 NVMe SSD (for games that work better with a faster NVMe SSD).
@Kryten42: The QVO drives are 4LC NAND-Flash memory, whereas/while the EVO drives are 3LC NAND-Flash memory. You basically have *half* the Read-&-Write--cycles with the QVO than you do with the EVO.
These are great drives. I have an 860 and tested it against my new 870 and found no difference, and the 870 was cheaper! I kept adding drives when I found them on sale or used by a test company that only put two hours on them and took the label off. I ended up putting them into a Windows Storage Spaces Parity drive, and about once a month would splurge on another drive, adding it into the array. I'm at 7 drives of 4TB each in the array and the response time is very fast. I hit the folder for my 4k videos and it opens them immediately, no lag! I want just one more to add as a Hot-Swap if one of the others fails. I back the array up to two 8TB 870QCO drives that are striped RAID0. Together they take the frames my machine makes without complaint. I also back up to a HDD.
AHCI is holding back lots of pc hardware and has been for a long time. I’ve had high quality SSD drives that failed that weren’t abused or overfilled! None of my Samsung drives have failed. Hi Nada, I don't know if you've done such a video but would you recommend an SSD with an external enclosure or a normal external SSD (preferrably SATA but NVMe would be interesting)?
Would this work as a cheaper storage drive for video projects and games? Like once you're done working with a project on an NVME main drive and finished rendering the output, then you can put the component files on to a large SATA drive. Final backup can go on a huge HDD array. The MSRPs for the 870 are insane though, too close to NVME 970 territory.
Weird that it caps out at 4TB though, doesn't the 870 QVO come in 8TB? so what is the point? for 1TB or 2TB rather buy a 970 EVO Plus M.2 NVME. Capacity is more important if it's a storage drive. Edit: huh thought there was a 6TB model of the 870 QVO but I guess not.

I still using 2x evo 840 128gb . bought it in late 2014. and never had problem. ( also have kingston m.2 from early 2014 (120gb)- same same no issues). never understood people who say ssd is not reliable :// .
I've had one or two SSDs die in 10+ years, and that's out of 100s. I'm guessing the people who say ssds are unreliable are the unlucky ones who bought one and had theirs die. And I guess they didn't own enough HDDs 😁
Samsung SSD and NVMEs are great. Over last 8 years I have purchased about 15 drives from them and NONE have failed. Actually, I only use SAMSUNG even though some others are fine also.
SATA SSD is the new SATA HDD. Same price. If you want something faster, get nvme. Costs bit more, but you get something faster. Like it always is. SATA SSD is now finally mainstraim, classic HHD only recommended for very large drives. And nvme is the new SATA SSD. 2020 at least brought us one thing positive
i have question regarding Storage Upgrade.. for my Alienware 17 R4.. Does it Support 4TB & 8TB Samsung 870 EVO & QVO 2.5inch SATA SSD.. ? please let me know.. because nothing mentioned in setup and specification manual.. and dell service dont answer my general question because my warranty is expired.

Should i get a 2tb nvme
Or the
2tb sata ssd?
All i want is reliability and long lasting system.
Something tells me that the older sata ssd are more reliable but i am not sure.
Early for the treat :) Nice video as always ;)
Awesome analysis!
has anyone ever told you that you look like the Linda Gunderson from RIO animation? hugs from Brazil! I watched all your videos and it's helping me a lot to learn English
That's a first 😂 but thank you!
i just got the 870 1tb for my games is that good?
Sure!
EVO OR QVO which is better?
Just got an 860 EVO SSD (500GB), on sale! Makes sense now why i got such a good deal
Sounds like a smart choice tbh!
@@TechTesters it has done me well! Thank you for making such cool vids and hello from the USA :)
Very helpful. Thank you.
I have Samsung 850 Evo 250GB on my desktop... Should I upgrade it to Samsung 870 Evo 250GB?
am the only one that just discovered that you can upgrade the firmware of their SSD??? (with samsung magician) I always considered SSD as plug and play and forget about it XD
@@TechTesters just don’t need to mock the device )
@@TechTesters i hv 850 evo 250gb working since 2015 . its flawless
Samsung SSD and NVMEs are great. Over last 8 years I have purchased about 15 drives from them and NONE have failed. Actually, I only use SAMSUNG even though some others are fine also.
Just a quick question. Hope you won't mind. Are those green plants real or are they just plastic plants?
All are real except for the fern on top of the PC ;)
A bit out of topic, I hope you dont mind me asking. What do you think about Firecuda Sata?
Which one? The 520 and 510 will be included in an upcoming video. Both are good, but it depends on the price.
@@TechTesters Firecuda 120 Sata, its a bit more expensive than 860/870 EVO.
do you have any video about a good ddr3L memory???
Always be in budget for me replacing hdd to Samsung 870 evo 500gb enough for my office work thanks mam 👍 for your review
My pleasure :)
which u choose between nvme transcend mte 220s ( 2 years warranty) or samsung 870 evo (5 years warranty) ? thank you.. ( for movie, data, and games)
Why the dislike it's a honest review!
Please talk about the controller only which is the only difference between them
i have question regarding Storage Upgrade.. for my Alienware 17 R4..
Does it Support 4TB & 8TB Samsung 870 EVO & QVO 2.5inch SATA SSD.. ? please let me
know.. because nothing mentioned in setup and specification manual.. and
dell service dont answer my general question because my warranty is expired.
Thank you so much!
Now the question is...what does one do with their old SSDs?
Currently have a bunch of 860s (1TB) and Im slowly running out of space.
Which company ssd is better for laptop could you please recommend me.
what does a SSD controller do and how does it effect a test?
It basically handles everything, the memory chips just store the 1s and 0s. It's usually the largest factor in performance.
Hi! Good video! Would this one work with a Lenovo legion 5?
No reason it shouldn't. If your version has a 2.5 inch bay.
