Watching this brought back many happy memories of me pulling out big timber and loading it with a aec matador on to our erf the best time of my life bring the 1970s, roy. 😊
I had 2 of these Foden recovery trucks in a gold mine in DR Congo central Africa. We did some intersting recovery jobs with them. Would have made a good few you tube videos, but it want the thing back in 2010. The Fodaen never failed on any recovery job. Miss those trucks for sure , the mine closed but the trucks are still there
in the 70s when i was in my tens we used to have a carnival type thing in Exhibition Park in Newcastle upon tyne. It was class. The place was full of chieftains, stollies, fodens all you can think of. a squaddie asked me to stop swinging on a chieftain's barrel. so i got in and tried to start it instead. great memories. thats why i like yr videos. bringing it all back!
The Foden recovery vehicle is nothing less than what it should be; a very robust & capable vehicle for towing, lifting & winching operations. It is always interesting & satisfying to watch the Foden accomplish any task with apparent effortlessness!
There were a few things I didn’t like about the Foden. The turning circle of 27 metres, the tilt angle of 27 degrees, the slew of the crane, the weight of 27 ton on 3 axles and the underpowered engine. It’s such a pity as otherwise a really really good but of kit.
Awesome. 9pm, Baby son is in bed, Wife is asleep, I can enjoy my late lunch after getting groceries, kick back and enjoy another great video of you folks. And on top of that it's a Foden video. Hooray!
2 Fodens, bliss! But he's got a Hiab on the orange truck, oh they're some tree trunks, no wonder the Hewes crane was needed. Great action well worth watching and clearly a great time was had. Thanks 👍
The lifting power and noise of those Fodens is brilliant, I enjoy these extra none tank videos such as the engine swap in the earth digger the weekend.
hi, great to see 2 Fodens with the motor panels cabs, i remember when the army had both those fodens. the orange one was the s77 and was an artillery tractor.
Impressive as the Foden was, can we talk about those trunks and all the beautiful oak they contain. 05:39 just screams HOUSE to me. So much timber sat there I wasted an hour at work just thinking about it. I really hope the wood goes to good use. 🤞
I imagine it will be sold to a mill and well used. There's probably a decent few hundred thousand pounds worth of quality hard wood on the back of that Foden.
@@mbak7801 I don't mean exclusively wood, and it's more of a primal feeling than a practical one. I guess it comes from growing up in houses with exposed beams, thatched roofs, wattle and daub walls, flagstone floors and solid fuel ranges.
This is one of only two channels on youtube that are an instant click for me.... the other one is Trail Mater - anyone enjoying the machinery and can do problem solving on this channel will probably enjoy Trail Mater too - offroad recovery service in Moab, Utah.
That big old Rolls Royce diesel sounds well. They were definitely not built for comfort those things but when it comes to shifting stuff, boy do they deliver. Love to see them getting to work 👍
Thanks to the lovely Lady who does the filming and probably the editing as well, without her life would be dull. I hope those trunks are going to a sawmill to be turned into useable timber planks? The Fodens as usual, do what Fodens have been doing since they were born, work.
I bet the people in Leicestershire love you with all the help you give them, well done Joe and company 👍👍👍👍 Also love how you have the BOSS filming she is a god send to your channel.
Again entertaining, love the content looking foward to seeing the Stalwart and T-34 progress, My Dad was in REME in the 60s A class mechanic worked on 432, stalwart, saracen and Cent tanks in Germany and Libya Sadly he passed away in 2019 wish he was around to watch your videos it would have been special to reminice with him as you struggled with the cent gearboxes and engines as well as 432 vehicles. Thanks for what your putting up it draws me back to great memories of my Dad.
Good luck getting the Stolly in that large pond/small lake. I foresee you needing the Foden to pull it out after it sinks. It might put the owner off ever so slightly. 😂😂❤❤😂😂
I have only seen logs that big once before cut. One about the size of the first one. A friend of mine dropped into my buddies half ton Chevy pick up truck. The front wheels came off the ground 5 feet when it hit! He could barely steer the six blocks to the tree down because there was so little weight on the front axle, good times lol.😊
That green cricket roller I believe is an Auto-Roller from the 1960's, I look after several of them and they still outlast the modern equivalents...."They don't build them like they used to" Although the original cork clutch can get a bit sticky but you have plenty of time NOT to panic on one of those things.
I enjoyed this video! My father used to skid logs on the farm with mules in the 1920's and 30's. I thought that he would loved the enclosed cab in the video short of you cutting hay. He did the d=same thin thing with horses and mules. ! Early tractors were expensive. thanks for posting both videos.
Class! what amazes me is that vehicles deemed obsolete by the MOD procurement people did a fantastic job! great video mates keep it up. i could watch these all day. i wish i could make the tea at your place i love this old kit.
I got wood, The Foden is a beast, loving the content Joe and Co keep it coming You two, From Tanks to anything Machinery. It would be great to see that beautiful Oak cut into Slabs, Great camera work by the way Love and Best wishes from Paul in Australia.
Look up the Sutton Hoo ship project, they're using huge, old oak trees, split with wedges and trimmed with side axes (adze I think they're called) to build a sailing replica of Raedwald's ship.
Nice job!. Good bit of 'dosh' waiting there with that oak. On sell it to cabinet/furniture makers!. 🙂 Of course something had to 'happen!' 🤣 Nuff said!.
The Forden is a truly great vehicle! Bits falling off in the water isn't good for your street cred but we will let you off because your channel is brilliant!😊😊😊😂😅
Love your videos. Great fun to see your projects. You should get a better microphone so we hear you over the machines. Røde makes good one I think. And perhaps a go pro?
There's a excellent book you can get from the Foden society website about their military and special vehicle division. From ww1 steam wagons to these beasts. Quite a story how they managed to win such a big contract, mainly because they designed, cast and manufactured all major components in house. Also interesting how they designed trucks to transport the UK's nuclear warheads!
Looks like Marston Trussell, a good friend of mine ploughed the field with his mothers golf when failing to make the left turn towards Farndon just along the road from there. Also great memories of driving an old Escort through that Ford a few times, then making minor excursions through the long grass along the old Bunkers Hill field road, to clean the oil off a knackered gearbox just before somebody came to buy it.
that must be an FH70 Gun Limber, converted, very similar to your recovery, never driven on of those, they went out of service with the FH70, many years ago, gotta love a Foden
Dear Father Christmas, do you remember that every Christmas since 2013 I asked for an Alfa 4C and I didn’t get one? Well this year I’d like a Foden, just like Joe’s - or even better, Joe’s Foden.
Be some nice planks out of those lumps, last one should have some nice colours running in it 😁. Gotta admit, 2 Foden’s sound well, don’t think it would be to much of a stretch to get the keys over a mogs 😳🤔🤔😆
Is that a shower curtain rod on the dash? Your Foden trucks sound good. Nice you have a lovely assistant "filming" your work. Large pieces of oak. jack, In The Valley of The Sun, Arizona, USA.
Heard a rumour that if your Foden 🔊🔥 throws its exhaust whilst navigating a Ford and is then flushed with beautifully clear river water it’s then fully ULEZ compliant.
It was a sad day when they stopped making Fodens, so many happy memories I had in them, nice to see them working again
2006 was the last year for foden. I used to work at the leyland plant that made them.
I know you said some followers were complaining about the lack of tank-related videos but I really enjoy seeing you "playing" with your other "toys".😁
Nothing beats seeing a Foden doing what a Foden does best... Apart from loosing its exhaust of course... 😮
Spontaneous straight-pipe-ification.

Foden's double teaming a mighty oak tree, hopefully not for firewood.
The fun never stops. Complete legend that Foden.
Awesome video thanks nice bit of Oak😊🚛🚛🚛🚜🚜🚜🇬🇧🔧🙏
Amazes me how effortlessly the Foden just deals with weight such a well balanced truck for lifting
The lifting power and noise of those Fodens is brilliant, I enjoy these extra none tank videos such as the engine swap in the earth digger the weekend.
Like others have said, Foden doing what they were made for, and still as good as anything out there, solid beasts.
They are far from being as good as anything out there but yes got the job done ... Nice work 👏

Proper Job ! Love it, that oak must be worth a few quid. Love seeing twin beasts in action!
Proper job pard👍
Like watching an old episode of Thunderbirds - even the motors sound as good 😁🇬🇧🫡
