Thanks for the video... I've had several Garmins and today I use a Watch 5 Pro, along with the smartphone functions you're able to perform on it. I was thinking about buying an Epix 2 Pro mainly for the "body battery" function I missed, but now Samsung has brought it to the 7 Ultra (it will come for the 5 Pro too later), now I'm seriously thinking about staying at Samsung.
I have the Samsung 5 Pro and gave my Epix Pro 2 to my little brother after using it for 3 months. I felt like I was overtraining and missed all the smart watch features such as, blood pressure checks, lte, Spotify on the go, and the Welltory training app. Now using the Samsung 5 Pro again. I realised I didn't need all the training feedback Garmin gave and the watch was very boring along with horrible watch faces. Samsungs sleep tracking had been more accurate for me in comparison to Garmin where the recovery metrics and body battery are reliant upon sleep the tracking, which wasn't very good in my experience.
It would be great if you could do a few runs with the Garmin on one wrist and the Samsung Ultra on the other. That way you could provide a direct comparison between GPS accuracy and heart rate comparison.
@jonathantimm4645 I know Garmin would be more accurate. But can u just do 5k run with ultra and not miss Garmin ? Or Garmin is just too good for running as compared to ultra ?
@sidha22 My Garmin Epix Pro wins overall but on the two 5k runs I have run (I am coming back from an Achilles injury so no long distance yet) the distance recorded on both watches are similar, the Ultra was about .03 more on one run and .02 on the other. Another difference I have found is the real time pace information on the Ultra tends to jump around quite a bit, but at the end of the run it is usually off by two or three seconds when both paces are averaged. I had a heart rate strap on for both runs attached to the Garmin and nothing attached to the Ultra. I found that the accuracy in this area was good as well when averaged at the end of the run they were off by one bpm on both runs. There is some difference in real time but I was happy with the results. Not sure if it will replace my Garmin yet but other than real time pace information I am really happy with it.
I liked how i could tell if i was getting sick on the garmin stress tracker. Tactix is an awesome watch, but I would have loved if it at least had the ability to take a call on it or type out a text reply on it.

Great video! I mainly cycle/swim and the occasional hike or walk. My bike computer takes care of the cycling part, and I am currently using a Suunto Race S for swimming/walking and health data. Works great. BUT, I miss having the "smartwatch features" that an Apple Watch or Galaxy watch offers with dedicated LTE service. Might have to give the new Ultra a try. Ty for posting the vid.
Very informative and helpful video! I currently have a Garmin Tactix 7 pro and for the most part I love it. I am not an elite athlete, but I do exercise regularly and use my Garmin for hiking. The biggest feature keeping me from switching is the offline topo maps on the Garmin. Do you know if the Galaxy Ultra can utilize any offline mapping during hikes? I am interested in the Android integration, but I don't want to give up too much of the navigation functionality by switching. Thanks!!
Yep, based on the sounds of it I'm guessing it would be hard for you to switch...even for me I still miss the Garmin. I'll report back with another video soon. Also, let me check on the offline maps!

I did have a 7.5 years old Garmin Fenix 3 watch. In the last 18 months, the GPS kept losing the location / total miles i would of completed when MTB at trail centres! Also it wouldn't up load properly on Strava! The charging cable / casing was hard to connect the properly to the watch! Just traded it in for £100 to Samsung Ultra watch! Happy so far, it's about right with 1 - 3/4 day of charge! Again takes battery life out when doing exercises such as weight training, spinning classes, n yoga. Unfortunately I'd discovered the Ultra watch is not compatible with my Strava App as an example when complete a Spinning Class it would upload onto Strava to record the Sats! It's seems to only work if I do it the other way round such as Strava App live GPS location off my phone to record MTB and then it will transfer data to Samsung Health! This wouldn't be as accurate compared to Garmin n no heart rate recordings! Please when reviewing the new Samsung Ultra watch can you record live fitness data and see if there a work round Strava! It's a shame as I been using Strava for over 11 yrs or so with decent recordings, KOM, PB's!
The Fenix is a sports watch, and as such it has a more minimalist approach where features are concerned, but performance as a sports watch, battery life and sensor integration etc are in another league. The display will look nicer on the Samsung and it will be full of gimmicks, just not serious as a training tool like a proper sports watch is. Apple is the same as Samsung in this respect.
