Galaxy 7 just got updated. It can import routes file as well. Used it about a month with fold 6. 1,5 days battery with an hour running per day with gps on. Cant ask for more, it works and cheap. Actually what makes samsung wearable is great is samsung health app. It tracks everything, from your sleep, sport and calorie intake. It suggestion is also great! Im trying to lose weight and it helps greatly. In terms of watch, i believe there are much better option depends on your need, either sport based, design or else. But, if its about wearable ecosystem, samsung nails it! You only need 1 wearable and 1 app to solve everything. I just jumped off apple ecosystem, and i regret all those years when i found samsung health. It is best all rounder Ps: all are personal review as regular person doing regular sport
That's great news about the Galaxy Watch 7 update for importing routes for offline tracking! Good to hear your story about looking beyond Apple's walled garden. I'm currently working on a full in-depth comparison between Samsung VS Google VS Apple VS Garmin wearables so watch this space 👀
Hi! You read my mind 😀 I'm editing my full in-depth review of the Google Pixel Watch 3 as we speak and will be out soon, followed swiftly by a detailed comparison between the Pixel Watch 3 and Galaxy Watch 7. Stay tuned 😉
Great review! Lots of great information, thank you. Just one note going over the GPS map. While you were in the tunnels your GPS was not solidly locked on to you. It lost connection, And drew straight lines from the last recorded data point before you went in, and the first one recorded when you came out. That's why it looks smooth. 17:31
Hey I'm wondering if the ultra watch band that comes in box fits a 5.5 inch wrist? Can you please reply? Planning to buy the ultra.... Great video btw🔥
Hi, glad you enjoyed the video! Yep the Marine band that comes in the box should fit a 5.5 in (140 mm) wrist. The slots for the strap buckle go almost all the way to the watch so it has plenty of adjustment. Hope that helps.
The Ultra goes exceptionally slick with nice clothes too, it's very versatile, yes the 7 is slimmer hence slicker. Why not the ultra for sleep tracking too? Is 7 better?
Why not the ultra for nice clothes too? It's a very versatile slick watch and goes nice with suits. Yes the 7 is slimmer and slicker. Also why not ultra for sleep tracking, 7 is better at it or just more comfortable?
I love my Galaxy 6 clasic especially after the new update I was ready to get the Ultra but having a Pixel pro cell phone and not be able to use all the features of the watch I keep the 6 classic. Thank you for a great video.
Hi. Both watches have magnetic "pucks" that just attach to the back of thr watches rather than having to plug the cables into the watch. Then you connect thr other USB-C end to a charger. The bands on both can be changed to others but removing and installing on the Pixel Watch 3 can be a bit of a faff compared to the Galaxy Watch 7 (but once you've replaced it it's solid).
They both look awesome. But i ended up with Ultra because they gave me $400 for my watch 5 pro. Can't pass that up. The 7 will be great to get later on eBay if you want something smaller.
I am not able to see the map while trekking.... are you using the standard health app or a 3rd party one to see the map while walking? I have a galaxy watch 7 lte
Hi! Galaxy Watch 7 does not have the facility to load a map for hiking onto it - it's on the Galaxy Watch Ultra. But you can still load a map on the Samsung Health App for hiking: Pick Hiking from Workouts > press 3 dots in top right corner > Routes > Import > pick your GPX or TCX route to import > then press on the imported route and you should see it now in the app. When our start hiking, press the bottom right map icon to view the map as you hike.
Hi! With Google's Wear OS 5 in the Galaxy Watch Ultra, we now have one of the slickest operating systems (with probably the most smart features other than Apple's OS) for wearables in a sportswatch - previously the market was limited with Garmin, Polar and Suunto sportswatches that had their own OSs with very limited smart features but now with Wear OS 5 in Watch Ultra, there's a whole heap of smart capabilities like using apps (whatsapp, google maps, make calls using e-sim, messaging, sports apps that you'd use on your phone, etc.) in a watch that can do some multi-sports like triathlons, duathlons etc (Garmins, Polar, Suunto, etc. can't do that). Hope that helps.
i watched this review and asked myself one question: are the features in the ultra worth nearly 300 dollars in price difference between the two watches? my answer was no and on top of that I am a visual person. the watch 7 actually looks better to me. so 7 it is. Notwithstanding all of this, I do understand why someone would buy the Ultra. Particularly outdoor sport enthusiasts.
Great content. As for the ultra. The case is a copy of the galaxy gear sport. I've had the watch4 44mm. The ultra is a breath of fresh air. 3000 nits is really great, as for the band mechanism is genius, super secured. As for battery. I have the ultra on power saver, with some heath turned off. I'm averaging 101 hours per cherge.charge. I am able to measure my heart rate, my steps,
Trading in my galaxy watch 4 so getting the ultra for $260. I honestly might consider the regular watch 7 if i could get black on black like the watch 4. $260 though? I'll take it...
@christophercarcamo4730 if you are doing multi-sport activities like Triathlon and want the 4G cellular capabilities with all the smartwatch features then it's the Galaxy Watch Ultra. But if you're not doing any triathlons, then think if the difference of 120 between them two is worth the extra day of battery life on the Galaxy Watch Ultra (plus the additional bulkiness compared to Watch 7). Me personally, if I wasn't doing triathlons, I wouldn't go for the Galaxy Watch Ultra. I'm going to post a video in a few days for the Garmin Venu 3 which has amazing battery life compared to both Galaxy Watch Ultra and Watch 7; and balances the smart and sports features well. Stay tuned 😉
Everyone will always prefer the more expensive one its just facts lol but for those who cant necessarily (yes me) afford the more expensive one, the watch 7 is just an amazing watch as well!!
Hi! On the hike you see in the video, the Galaxy Watch Ultra's elevation gain, ascent and descent were largely similar to that on the Galaxy Watch 7 (difference of around 5-10 m on average). However, the Polar Grit X2 Pro, that I also used on this hike, the elevation gain was around 48 m higher than that on both the watches (but altitude measurements were similar) - which leads me to think that the reference points for elevation gain might be different across both brands. Hope this helps.
Hi! Depends on your settings. For "normal" use with all health tracking features on, the Ultra will not last beyond 2 days. With certain things turned off, it could up to 3 days but definitely nowhere close to 5 days.
I am using watch ultra clone vwar watch or JS watch ultra. exactly identical to samsung watch ultra. battery life almost 10days ( wear all the time except 15min shower) did 1.5hr of training with all workout timers, running on treadmill with timers, cross training machine. same watch face as original( price 30$)😀. having samsung original active watch 2 pathetic battery life charged twice a day. earlier used Huawei GT2 which is again not compatible with samsung phone and notify the alerts only but had almost 10-12 days of battery life
Yep battery life is a consistent issue amongst the big brands like Samsung, Google and Apple watches. I feel the Ultra's battery might still be sufficient for multi-sport activities and events (triathlons, duathlons, etc.), but then needs charging again!
@@thewearableist You didn't understand what he is trying to explain, he has clone copy of Watch Ultra of Samsung with same watch faces and it costs just 30$
Hi! Saw a similar comment on my other video 😀 I've copied my thoughts below: hardware-wise the Watch 7 is similar to the Watch 6 except for 1 thing. Both have sapphire crystal glass on screen, dual band GPS antenna, IP68 water and dust resistance, 5 ATM water resistance (around 50 m water depth). The main difference (from hardware point of view) is the 3 nm process in the Watch 7 which is an upgrade over the 5 nm processor in the Watch 6 - so a bit smoother to whizz around the UI, quicker to open apps and slightly better in managing battery drain - but the 5 nm processor on the Watch 6 is still good IMO. The optical HR sensor is good on the Watch 7 - I haven't tested the Watch 6 so can't comment on it but the upgrade would not have been gigantic given 1 year difference. If you are want the best processor then Watch 7 is the one to go for but keep in mind the similarities I mentioned in hardware - still probably not worth the $100 price difference. Hope that helps 😉
Hi! I didn't feel they were completely off. But, I'm testing out the Garmin Venu 3 now and my full in-depth review will be out very soon. Garmins are known for accurate HR tracking. Watch this space 😉
Personally I find this ultra unprecedentedly ugly designed more looking like a plastic toy from the distance... By the way on 7 there is no sephire... please research.
Hi! The Galaxy Watch 7's display IS made of sapphire crystal glass (so was the Watch 6 Classic, and Watch 5 Pro). Here's from my extensive research: www.samsung.com/us/watches/compare/
Samsung's Galaxy Watch 7 or Galaxy Watch Ultra? Which one are you thinking of buying?

Both watches look amazing when you see them in person, especially the Watch 7. I prefer to Ultra though.

I have both. I use the ultra for everything in the day and the 7 44mm for sleep tracking and when I wear nice clothes.

You should review the ultra with the Garmin and other core sports watches.

That's great. Yep agreed the band is really good and stayed locked onto my wrist (I had the Marine in orange).
@thewearableist i have the marine also, the trail, and a bunch of 3rd party bands.
Yes exactly. The Ultra isn't a "copy of Apple" or any confusion about round or square. It's a revisit of the Gear Sport from 2017.
Trading in my galaxy watch 4 so getting the ultra for $260. I honestly might consider the regular watch 7 if i could get black on black like the watch 4. $260 though? I'll take it...

Best buy told me for my galaxy watch 4. They'd only give me $10 lol
@kadhafi21 wow! I just checked on the Samsung website and they can offer $175 for Watch 4 for buying the Watch 7.
Hope that helps 😬
$379 for watch 7 def better deal then the $650 with the Ultra. To big of a price gap for what you get with the Ultra
Inclined to agree with you!
But what if the ultra is 450? Still can't decide but i have the option 330 for the 7 watch or 450 for the ultra.
